Just putting this here for those RPing and those interested especially since some OOC stuff has been seemingly clogging up the pipeline.

Name: Jason Carter Race: African American
S: 4 P: 8 (6 without glasses) E:4 C:6 I: 8 A:5 L: 6
Traits: Good Natured, Four Eyes.
Tagged Skills: Medicine Science Repair
Current perks: Comprehension Retention ??? - Your characters don't directly know this one
Known backstory: Jason was clearly a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse with a variety of the skills often associated with the group - medicine, research and mechanical maintenance abilities. A pacifist at heart Jason tries his best to avoid direct confrontation if he can, even having a Stealth Boy on his person so that he can slip away if trouble arises, though his lack of experience can cause him to simply abandon the memory of it occasionally.
Jason clearly suffers from an addiction to Mentats, which he claims he takes for a more medical reason. He is an avid reader of pre-war books and often would read any he can get his hands on, travelling with what can almost be described as a small library of books to pass the time with gaining as much knowledge as he can.

So... a few things. Firstly I've started Fallout Shelter, and I'm loving it.
Secondly I just realised that Jason's Mentat addiction puts him at 10 perception and 10 intelligence most of the time.
Thirdly, Kador I love both those perks personally but if I had to choose for your character it would honestly probably be Way of the Road since interacting with people would be how you would come across most of your supplies, since medical supplies would be a little more difficult to just find.
Finally, I'm thinking of Follower's Expertise for my companion perk: Allows for the use of less resources for medical and maintenance related tasks - leaving this mildly open to interpretation. Looking at it from a more mechanical point of view efficiency of things like Stimpaks and repairing weapons from scrap parts are increased.

True Adamance wrote:I agree with you on the companion perk for Eddie. I take it your perk is like Arcade's Better Healing but in terms of raw materials. E.G - Jason is the McGuyver of the Wastes. Also when considering Mentat Addiction if you fail to have any one you....... you get hit with a -1 PE and 1- INT penalty......aka a really lousy migraine. PS: Using my characters actual name is awesome Well honestly Jason suffers from migraines naturally especially as you may have noticed OOC during stressful situations so it's nothing new to him.
I was trying to avoid directly copying Arcade's perk. Jason is a jack of all trades so yes. Don't forget it works with both medical and maintenance stuff so better healing is a part of it as well in the sense of using less medical resources to get better results; a result of working with the tight resources of the Followers.
The thing with your name is such a habit now that whenever I see you I automatically translate it to Kador.
If it makes you feel any better Max the iPad I'm using isn't mine and the person who uses it has to take with them to work so... yeah.
PS: An OD on Mentats like what Jason is on now would be a horrible thing to come down off of especially given his uhh condition.

I've always wondered how Hydra was applied. I assumed it was a drink, especially since it was in a bottle unlike healing powder, that was a very effective painkiller and would begin the process for bone and marrow regeneration in a painful way hence the poison no doubt used a s a number and the night stalker blood to counteract it while the cave fungus' healing properties for limb regeneration was activated by one of the other components.
If this is true, presumably you could have drunk it before anyone even woke up unless you want a recommended dosage which given your character's brashness I doubt.
Oh and hope to see you around Fizzer.

Since Jason will be helping Eddie bury the bodies, I'll point this out for Eddie, Perception or Medicine check will notice something about the raider Jason fought, which you would know he did in fact fight because of the wound he had and the fact that he retrieved the weapon.

When I made Jason I knew he would be a bit fickle mentally when it came to certain things but I didn't originally expect to have him be around Nipton when that happened. I love it.

True Adamance wrote:Jakar have you ever thought that rather than have Jason suffer from his inner voice when he needs a mentat eventually start talking to it and embracing discussion about higher level concepts like causality and such.
Y'know going mad because he is too intelligent. The idea is that he suffered from the inner voice before he actually had access to mentats and it actually culminated in an incident occurring, involving him revealing himself as being a hematophage. (really enjoyed that quest in Fallout 3 by the way. Thought they could have done more with it.)
Luckily one of his parents (haven't decided whether it's his mother or father) was connected in some way to the Followers which is how he came to be with them at the Mormon Fort. Julie diagnosed and treated him, resulting in him using Mentats as a form of treatment. Being around the Followers resulted in exposure to a great deal of books, which led to his knowledge base. The voice subsided as did his strange desire though it would crop up now and again. It's more a fear of something occurring again that keeps him on the Mentats than anything else. The headaches tend to come from the addiction craving, stress and panic when he hears the voice as he's been led to believe it's a bad thing. I have an idea for a conversation with an NPC after Novac that could result in something interesting.
Mechanically the voice is part of the reason for his high perception. I'm trying to determine the extent of that so that it doesn't become an automatic ambush detector. Also a bit of a spoiler: Jason's soon out of Mentats so your characters will probably learn about it soon.
In short working with a few ideas that'll make interactions more interesting but I don't want to make it too convoluted.
Another thing - I'm wondering whether to stick rigidly to the skills and perks system or loosen it up a bit. I mean with the tags we know what his specialties are and I may keep the skill sheet just as a basis but I may loosen up on things like the level and skill requirements for perks since it's something he would gain from certain experiences occurring. As an example I'm thinking after a few more fights I'll give him Living Anatomy but he can't get it now because despite his medical skill he's not a particularly capable fighter at the moment.

So I was reading through these OOC thread and the RP thread and I want to ask Max a question. You do know that Joshua Graham wasn't a part of the Followers, he was a missionary from New Canaan, and that Caesar encountered him during his trip to the Grand Canyon? Also Caesar was never at the Mormon Fort since he came directly out of NCR territory from Boneyard. Meaning Max could only ever encounter Joshua Graham in New Canaan prior to him meeting Caesar or following the formation of Caesar's Legion.

OK I suppose but you could clear it up a bit. Also at one point you mentioned your character being like late twenties I think. Caesar's Legion is 34 years old.
Kinda waiting for Adamance to respond before I continue in the RP thread.

So I kind of opened up that bottom floor room since technically it's barred off in the game and can't be accessed. Figured if Bethesda didn't want to use it I will.

The one I chose here in the RP is closed off in the game, so I opened it for the RP.

Tell you a secret. I was looking at the Forecaster's dialogue lines on the wiki so I could make sure it came across properly.
Tell you another secret. Kind of relying on this RP for my writing fix since I haven't written anything in an age and have lacked the will to write anything in an equally long age since I'm afraid it'll come out like crap.

Same here though I am using the RP to attempt to write a more casual and human character. Behind the scenes I'm attempting a full ch 10+ chapters of Kador's back story from his youth to present day during which time I really want to develop his character.
The worst thing I ever did was attempt to play too much of a 'straight-man' type Templar. I always wanted to portray Kador as character who if given an inch will always take a mile, emotionally unstable, sardonic, dour, spends all his time trying to wrap himself up in duty and dogma to keep everything in line.
I lost the will to write stories related to this universe when that announcement regarding Legion came through at Fanfest and pretty much everyone I played with left. I had such plans for the stories I was going to write but I need something engaging with the universe and I kind of lost that when it turned out the game was more or less on the back burner. I miss writing for this universe honestly.
Doesn't help that I can't play the game properly because I have a crappy third party controller that has the worst sticks ever and the triggers aren't triggers. The person who bought it for me is kind of cheap...

So I was thinking. I hope I'm not making it hard on anyone to follow on sometimes since my character just does the whole shut down thing. He's, at the moment, more of a reactor to situations rather than an actor which is why I write him like that. I hope that isn't creating a problem.
