If you tank you may have noticed that railgun installations automatically fire at your tank now without someone using them. This is a major change that I didn't see listed anywhere in the patch notes and as far as I know wasn't even talked about before the release of WL 1.1. This is a major change to tank gameplay and it's definitely not a change for the better. We don't need even more proto rails hitting our tanks from the redline. |

So let me get this straight, an installation that would in the enemies redline, which is there for defensive purposes, is blowing up your tanks?
I don't see a problem here.

Wait, they finally fixed railgun installations? I'll have to check that out, that'll be nice. I was getting pretty sick of just rolling up to Installations and killing them since they refused to fire back.

The original issue was the rail installations had near instantaneous rotation with 100% accuracy. Which they used to destroy derpships constantly. That automatic behavior was eliminated as was the infinitely firing missile turrets having infinite range.
If the rail turrets are enabled, enforcing the militia level turret rotation speed would balance their effectiveness. Two vehicles can, and should, confuse the AI. One attacks while the other reloads and the turret has to s-l-o-w-l-y turn to the other target.
I have complained more than once that I want to hack Their Turret with the insta-rotation operation. Forget tanks, that rail gun turret is what I want. Not the POS that it turns back into whenever it gets hacked.
Stupid C++ and bad programmers with 'new' objects. MOG (My Other Game) any turret stays in the position it was in last, hacked or not. The turret isn't pointed in some off target area if you jump out to kill the red coming at you. Only to find the barrel is now pointed behind you, again.
My favorite tank is a Lightning. Just sayin.

But non redline installations start of neutral so hacking them would have a benefit to the team no just your 50wp
It wouldn't target cloaked scouts which strengthens their non slaying role

When's the last time you played the game buddy? As of 4/27/2015 railgun installations didn't shoot unless someone was using them. |

The problem isn't that the rails are auto firing, it's that the rails do a ridiculous amount of damage to have so much armor, a rail installation will pop my tank with a hardener on and 4200 armor within 5-6 shots, while I have to take several more shots at it to destroy it, either nerf the damage...or cut down the hp. The thing does as much damage as a proto rail turret...it's basically a stationary proto rail tank with 10k armor that WILL kill you from 300 meters if so much as tapped with a shot from a blaster. |

I know they were always intented to work this way but with all these changes to tanks they feel very strong against tanks... A single blaster tank can barely take out an unmanned rail installation alone at close range. And I'm talking about full proto tank. And that tank needs to pop most if not all it's cooldowns to be able to take it down.
Now I'm not going to go into saying that they are OP but I want to know if they are intented to be that strong?

The problem is it doesn't lead to good gameplay
if installations target only vehicles
- call in railgun
- destroy all installations
- recall tank
- bring in ADS/blaster tank
if installations target vehicles and infantry
- run whatever you want because infantry have an incentive to keep installations blue

It isn't just tanks... before you could destroy rail turrets with forge or swarms and have no fear.
Now, it is a very deadly game of avoiding being one shotted as infantry.
Firefights around an enemy rail turret are much more interesting as even a stray bullet may lead to being killed by an unmanned turret.
