Yeah eve is still growing but hardly anyone plays it. WoW has a much larger playerbase while EVE is still just some nerdy spreadsheet game made by some no name developers that can't even make a fps on the PS3 without it looking like it a N64 game. /takes breath.

WoW started in late 2004 (might as well just say 2005), in the first quarter of 2005 they got up to ~1.5 million subscribers, their peak was at ~12 million and then it started to drop until it hit a little under 7 million and then it started to rise again with them now at around 10 million.
You can't make EVE and/or DUST look better themselves by trying to dump sh!t on other games.
It's hard to believe I was once one of the biggest fanboys Dust had.

CCP are very good pc developers, and invest a lot into Eve. I won't argue they were not that great and a bit naive jumping into the ps3 game development as they did. The game is not for everyone, and I for one am glad of that. It doesn't take being a nexkbeard to play it, but it does help :) |

No it doesn't help. This player base has one of the scrubbiest player bases of all time. Even for a F2P game. Mainly because of the no gun game, isk consumption, eve nerds.
If CCP is so good at making PC games then why is there only 20,000 people playing EVE compared to WoW who has 10,000,000?
It's because EVE is a boring spreadsheet game that no one has heard of. |

Perhaps you need to join Eve University or sign up with a large corporation to appreciate Eve Online which is mainly a PvP based game. Not PvE.

Eve has something that nothing else can touch, and most are scared to even attempt. It is nearly full player driven, it is not some theme park. You make it how you want it, it's the players game. The player driven economy and market are talked about in forbes magazine dude, college courses have used it in lectures. There are some people playing that game that are also the same people who do big things in this world.

EVE is growing? Last I saw in 2014 and 2015 they lost significant active subscribers.
CCP is on declining revenue projections unless EVE actually has it's unique concepts developed on..
Not some pretty new ship and some new wormholes for 4 years of development. |

WoW has been copying other major MMO's since Ultima Online and Diablo 2. They have never had an original idea. Its the best (and worst) ideas of many major MMOs over the years. Many of their playerbase has never played a major MMO in their life, and their turnover rate is insane because of it.
IMO WoW is the most pussified joke of an MMO I have ever seen. They don't even let you attack other players because their pansy-ass playerbase can't take it.

This is flat out ridiculous. EVE: Online is an extremely influential MMO, and every self-respecting gamer has heard of it. EVE: Online is famous because it does things that no other MMO does. EVE: Online broke the rule book.

It hasn't been falling since its height at launch. It grew since launch and peaked at the launch of its third expansion. It's been falling off since that point specifically.
Blizzard has never made it a secret that they take what other developers do successfully and attempt to refine it, polish it, make it more accessible, and then dump a ridiculous amount of production value into it. Thats been their gaming philosophy since pretty much forever and it hardly needs much defending.

But... But... But MAG! But, on a serious note, Dust is the most enjoyable FPS on the PS3 right now. Even if its glory has to be fought for against over-hype of a dream we'll never see come to life in the game's current edition. It's undeniably addictive, so they've done something right. Also, Doom wins the FPS debate. That shotgun is just orgasmic. |

I quite WOW to play EVE.
WOW was being continually dumbed down while I was playing it to the point where it provided no mental challenge whatsoever.
With EVE I still felt like a noob after playing it for years. There was always more to learn.
DUST is a nice half way ground between the two. It has complexity, but not to the point of feeling like you are studying for a Masters Degree to learn it. Also the actual combat in DUST is intuitive and requires you to aim, which neither WOW nor EVE do.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Actually to be fair, there are 10 year old girls who play WOW. My wife was on Coms with one a few times. I have never met a 10 year old who plays EVE.
But then, what does that say about those two games?

You're comparing two different games.
EVE is a strategic sci-fi game where you have to risk to get reward etc space stuff.
WoW is a game where you can dress your doll, kill magical creatures and that's pretty much all.

I don't do that anymore. I won't deny that I used to do it before the matchmaking changes though, and that was because I wanted to make sure I had the best chances of winning. Losing a match wasn't fun, and so I tried to make sure it happened very infrequently.
Now though, I focus more on having fun. If I can't find anyone to fill the squad, I'll just deploy anyway. I've found that running with a full squad is now counter-productive to maximising my chances of victory, because I'll end up getting thrown against the rootinest tootinest pubstompers you ever did see, usually with uneven teams.

It's not quite like that.
Before matchmaking I used to prefer full squad stomps, because I was a scrub.
Now, I prefer better, more fun matches. Most people will tell you I still play in a full squad 95% of the time, mainly because I have many friends, of a wide variety of skill level.
What I mean is that if you try to bring a full A-team into a pub, you're more likely to get steamrolled yourself. That's because Scotty thinks your full high-mu squad can take on a full 16 average players, which it can't, especially in Skirmish.

I'm not only playing against scrubs. Not only am I having more even and difficult pub matches, but I'm also becoming more active in PC.
