I won't deny that I used to do it before the matchmaking changes though, and that was because I wanted to make sure I had the best chances of winning. Losing a match wasn't fun, and so I tried to make sure it happened very infrequently. Now though, I focus more on having fun. If I can't find anyone to fill the squad, I'll just deploy anyway. I've found that running with a full squad is now counter-productive to maximising my chances of victory, because I'll end up getting thrown against the rootinest tootinest pubstompers you ever did see, usually with uneven teams. Before matchmaking I used to prefer full squad stomps, because I was a scrub. Now, I prefer better, more fun matches. Most people will tell you I still play in a full squad 95% of the time, mainly because I have many friends, of a wide variety of skill level. What I mean is that if you try to bring a full A-team into a pub, you're more likely to get steamrolled yourself. That's because Scotty thinks your full high-mu squad can take on a full 16 average players, which it can't, especially in Skirmish.
