There should be another way that is not AURality rank, i play since open beta and i'm level 5, without aurum reach level 4 will take at least half a year (being generous), i didn't make it from level 5 to level 6 from loyalty rank introduction and i play pretty much.
Another thing is that one can always spend 50k AUR than he's free to trade despite being new.

Create alt and get some free stuff and a new recruit
Buy AUR
Buy Boosters
Get level 5
Play for 100k WP (for more BPOs)
Wait a month or two until booster & BPO will be tradeable. (only first iteration)

2 years i have been playing, bought a merk pack, havent spent all the AUR yet. Nowhere near Lv 4.
I like this game but recent additions by this company are starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth. This is a features that has been teased and asked for for ages now. They finally did it, thatGÇÖs great. But if they expect me or indeed a new player to fork over money for a GÇPvery basicGÇ¥ version of trading i think they are mistaken.
We need new players and player retention NOW. This means not shielding functions after a X year of grinding daily. Most people just donGÇÖt have the time for that kind of grinding. They should now be excluded from a cool mechanic of the game? Casual playing is not good enough to participate?
I just think this company is asking ridiculous prices for very little development value. What rattati and his team is doing for the game is great and to be commended and iGÇÖm grateful theyGÇÖve not given up on us. But someone in that company is experimenting with the monetization knob, which i get, but you can take it too far.
WeGÇÖve had the Boxes, the Warbarge and now thisGǪ too little content for too much money. And donGÇÖt pull the GÇPiterationGÇ¥ card and proceed to not give a glimpse or a hint of what can be expected in terms of the future of dust. I hope i can say that i was looking at this all the wrong way a couple of months from now, but if this is the price of GÇPdust is now profitableGÇ¥ the well...
Also, i think i'm coming down with the butthurt.

I paid about 40Gé¼ in Dust in 2 years. Played about 1500h (if not more) and even though I've had many long breaks I'm in the top 800 or even better (as many people here).
I'm only rank 5. I'd probably be rank 3 or 4 without paying anything.
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.
(Hint: hit detection, lags, glitches,.. you've got some work :) )

One of the problems with the Loyalty Ranking system is that it does not count money spent on the game, only Aurum. This means that if you bought the 100 Dollar Dren pack that has zero Aurum, you get less Loyalty Ranking than someone that bought the 5 dollar Aurum.

I think that you can redeem only newsletter after your subscription.
BTW, i can't trade with any of my alts, all created in open beta, that's ridicoulus.

yes its possible but you have to grind your arss off . first week fw came out thats all i did . made 40000 lp. was great with the pay outs . im lv 9 now and still need 6000 pts to 10. few months yet . lv 10 dont mean sht anyway lol. just saying it is possible just be rdy to grind your arss off .

Thats faction loyalty rank. The ranking to which trading refers is the generic one based on logins, games, warpoints and aurum purchased.

Logging in and not playing seems pointless to me. I play casually and after 2 years i'm still somewhere between Terribad and awful at this game so kill-wise it won't be pretty too. This should not exclude me from trading though.

I would be more inclined to be based on warpoints as either they will have to do a lot of logi stuff, or work a long time depending on how it is set up. It would just be said if you killed my broker business before it got off the ground. Trying to help people in an unforgiving world. And I get shut down.
On the bright side with not paying Aurum it will only take till Valkyrie for me to do Player Trading.

I'm level 2, last I looked. 3 at most.

I was Level 5 when the Loyalty Rank system was implemented. Had not spent a cent before that day. Have been playing since August 27th, 2012, with less than a handful of breaks.
Now I've spent $70 and am now at Level 6, nearly halfway to 7th.

Soooo.... I bought 4 Templar sets, and put the spare 3 on ALTs, as it didn't make sense having them all on one account. This way I could play ALTs with BPOs once I had capped on this account. Now you say that because I never bought any AUR and didn't reach the crazy high "gametime" requirements to reach level 4, I will not be able to sell these items?!
You gotta be frigging kidding me! So, what now? I gotta go illegal and sell the PSN accounts? If not, I gotta spend real money just to enable the sale of these items OR play each ALT for 2 years.

Ah a bit of confusion, so this is my main, which i play most days, but both characters are on the same account so if i play dust at all, i will sign into my alt to get the login bonus (maybe, but rarely do some missions) first, then switch to cray and play. Although i will say i have played this game more than i have any other and without aurum after 2 years i am rank 5.

I spent quite a bit of time playing this game and due to that I have purchased Aurum here and there. I did that because even though this game is free to play, I know it was not free to develop and is not free to maintain. That is why CCP has created small mechanisms to entice players to pay as all free to play games do. There are several free to play games though that have expansions or areas you cannot access unless you pay and I find such restrictions wrong as it is somewhat gamebreaking and not truly free to play. At least in DUST, you have access to everything without paying a cent; those that pay though get tiny advantages over those that don't which if you think about it is not that bad as it is those that pay that keep this game funded and going.
I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

in case your all wondering PC will be reduced to a paywall as well as the "corperate" warbarge level will be dependant on the individual warbarges in your fleet wich are timelocked behind a paywall leaving you the option to wait a year to play PC with your corp or deny corp acess to anyone who doesnt have aprticular warbarge requirements .

It does not matter if you salvaged anything on your alt. You can still say that you have 50 Officer HMG"s and ask for the money up front. Sure the guy will be pissed when you take his money, and sure he will tell everyone he knows not to trust you, but you can send the money to your main and delete your alt to replace it with a new alt with a untarnished reputation.
If you have invested enough effort or AUR to get a character to Loyalty Rank 4, then that character is no longer disposable.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Then CCP can just trace the master account and identify the main character.
Oh, and all 5 of my alts are rank 4 or 5, so I guess they're not disposable?

Try putting two Shield extenders and an Armor plate on it.

Also i think the restriction is working against player retention and the NPE.
Assuming a player is attracted to Dust in the first place, or assuming a player randomly downloads the game, it's prolly not the traditional shooter elements that keep that player in the game. Almost certainly not given the range of broken systems, poor mechanics, etc.
The player is sticking around because there are ideas and systems in Dust that make the game something more than 'just another poorly implemented f2p shooter'.
Imo gating those engaging systems behind a paywall or a time-played wall effectively ostracizes noobs from gameplay, and using Loyalty Rank is a mistake. We definitely do need anit-scamming controls, but what Rattati has proposed with Loyalty Rank will hurt the NPE as well as the veteran player experience.
What he's proposing is basically the same old vets trading with the same old vets(and not even all the vets). I'd wager players are leaving the game faster that they are attaining LR 4.

Although, if it was Loyalty Rank 4 or Factional Loyalty Rank of 4 that might solve the same problem and provide an option for people who don't want to spend AUR.
