What would you consider the worst thing to happen to dust why?
For me, it's cloaking devices. Back in beta, battles were alot more honest. NO ONE could charge straight at an enemy squad or clear out a whole whole single handedly, yet today because cloaking devices (and other mechanics related to scouts) I see it often.
Situation awareness used to be a thing, until CCP literally took it out of the game. There's no skill in being invisible. Cloaking devices never added anything of value to the game. It broke game balance so badly that it took months of buffs to other suit classes just to compete. If CCP would ever remove anything from Dust 514, I would want the cloaks to go away like black ops tanks did, and never come back. |

Same as the cloak users complaining that the cloaks were nerfed too hard, you are swinging way too far in the opposite direction.
Cloaking devices were meant to give Scout suits the ability to safely cross open terrain with no cover which they used to have issues with. People using them as GOTCHA bullshit was part of why the CPM was so insistent on not going with CCP's original concept, which would have had NO movement shimmer whatsoever.

I know it sounds iffy but...
Aim assist. Gun game when flying out the window. Lower TTK...
And i wasn't here for it but leaving chromosome... People always talk how that was the best feel dust had... Chrome + Ratt + ppl before rouge wedding = perfect.
Sooooo! I've come to the conclusion that the wedding was the worst... It made so many people leave dust... And now people are in fear that one day we'll just get abandoned or told "this is a beta"

The Caldari Prime and the Templar events. As I understand it, there was a massive use of resources to make those events happen at the most critical time in the game's lifecycle. If those resources had instead been spent improving the game we probably would have had a much better release, which would have meant better reviews, more players sticking around. All of this would have lead to a larger developer team and would have snowballed into a radically different future for the game.
I know some people remember those events fondly, but we paid an insanely high price for them.

I think the worst thing that has happened in dust is the series of nerfs of the HMG. First off, they increase the heat build-up of the gun, making it faster to overheat the gun. Then they nerf it again by not only reducing the damage of the gun, but also reducing its effectiveness towards vehicles( I remember taking down an Incubus with my ADV HMG). This game is supposed to take place tens of thousands of years into the future, so why does the HMG feel like it came from WW2. I feel that the HMG will always get the short end of the stick when CCP decides to nerf/buff stuff. In my opinion, if some weapon is OP, then buff the other weapons in order to balance it out(Example: Nerfing the EXCREMENT out of the Breach AR 's ammo is a no-no, now to many people, it's the worst performing AR out there). I feel that if the HMG were back to its original state, it would give justice to its nickname, "Death's Machine". |

Cloaks. Being invisible is just too much of an advantage. They aren't completely OP, just inherently bad. On the other hand, some people like them and if they keep people playing then they can't be the worst thing to happen to Dust. Maybe 1.7 tanks.
Because, that's why.

The poor core fps mechanics, buggy implementation and half-assed development standards that got Dust dismissed by the gaming press and most of the players who tried it.
But that was only a symptom - the cause was something broken in Reykjavik that made CCP unable to see past it's own kittenshit.

The only correct answer is deciding to call the incomplete product that was Uprising 1.0 the "official release" and allowing all the make gaming media to review the game as though it was a finished product.
"Dust 514 may be free, but it's not worth a minute of your time." All the players trying it out, getting the wrong impression, and never trying it again. Just a terrible way to "launch"a game. Should of kept the beta title.

What?
You can see the people.... if you're aware of your surroundings. Using the radar does not qualify as "situational awareness".

thats fine. but gal scout? thats not fine. youre either invisble to the eye, or invisible to scans... not both. gal scouts goes hunting more than scouting.

i use both. if im "lucky" ill catch a scout sneaking up on me if im in the open on a hill. he usually would instantly stand still, at which point i can barely see him.
it was harder when they had passive scan while cloaked that had the little arrow that told them which direction you were facing. cmon man, how many crutches did scouts need lol?
imagine if they had the passives while cloaked and directional arrows allow with their superman jumps? what part of any of that sounds remotely balanced with anything else in the game? there no justifying anything the scouts had up til now.
the least they could do is nerf your movemt and sprint speed while cloak is activated. i mean the cloak is for moving unseen right? why do they also need to sprint, and jump over buildings while cloaked?
blah blah blah... im ranting. sorry |

Rouge Wedding, though it really is cheating as it is not a single thing but rather a symptom of the game itself.
For the symptoms: CCP knew they bit off more than they could chew, they were over-hyping things too much and not delivering what they were promising. FanFest 2014 is shorthand for just how CCP failed to deliver on what they had hoped to do. Even if you think the game is decent, which I do, you cannot say that the game has been a success based on what CCP originally wanted to do. With the delivery, it shows that CCP has been terrible with giving information to the player base; the months of silence after the announcement compounds this point further.
For the single thing from FanFest: CCP got on stage and announced "but the only way to realize that vision (...) is to go on PC." Regardless of ANYTHING that CCP has done after this, more development or just walking back from that, doesn't matter. They officially announced "we cannot make DUST what it was supposed to be." In short, they effectively announced "we failed." Anyone that learns about DUST now can just see that CCP announced this 'failure' and have absolutely no reason to get into the game. Whether it is coincidence or causation, the weekly average of players dropped from ~2,900 to around 2,200 (24% drop) as it is now.
