As for me, I don't use proto gear on occasion because I like the freedom of being able to just go "F**K IT" and run right into the fray.
When I play in proto, my serious face goes on and I tend to pick engagements and prioritize winning the match overall.
In short: If I'm not in proto, I'm not taking the battle seriously and just having fun. If my team can't hack it, I'll probably end up pulling out proto and trying to one man army the thing.

because mk.0 scout have only 1 slot more (for damp) and my melee M/1 scout does it without it. min and cal logi = always proto

Cost efficiency. I can run a adv suit with proto eq/mods for about half the cost of a true proto suit, but do basically just as well. If I die 3 times in a 225k is suit, I lost isk. If I die 3 times in my 95k isk adv suit, I still made isk. Considering that I die 4/5 times to some OHK shotgun/RE scrub or a sniper, I really dont see the benefit of proto in pubs.

K/D is pointless once you're in a good corp and have a reputation. Besides, I couldn't drop my K/D to scrub levels even if I tried.

My quafe gal assault with one damage mod and a basic AR couldn't take on your duvolle , allotec, or creodron when we exchanged fire ?

I wish I could not care, but I haven't fully built my reputation yet. My PC career is just starting.
And I thought that it was people with high K/D's who were scrubs, not people with low K/D's.

I don't run proto usually,every now and then i run it for a round to remind my self that I spent millions of SP on my suits and weapons. The reason I don't is simple I adore my Templar gear >.<

I'm saying that people who say that they need to limit themselves by running STD/MLT are deluding themselves, and are not as skilled as they say they are.

You max your cores, get your bonuses up, and every fit is a proto. So, at that point, the cheaper the better. All my fits come in under 35k ISK (most uner 20k), and I don't as a rule use BPOs.
KDR matchmaking fixes everything but the stupid purple Quafe stuff.

I would run out of isk if I proto stomped and Proto gear is usallyt 2 hit points better than standard. I use proto gear in PC battles though. I use proto swarm launchers, nova knives, and snipers. |

I probably would run cheaper gear sometimes if they would give me more slots for fittings. I currently have 10 suits at lvl5 which only allows me a couple fits for each suit and I have at least 10 fittings for logis and commandos alone.

Figured i should get good with the basics so when i went proto i wasn't just throwing isk away. I have 5 proto suits i never wear because i'm good with the basics so why throw the isk away.
The true value of proto gear is the bonuses you recieve, not the suits themselves.
That & the proto caldari scout looks like crap next to the kaalakiota scout!

I din't run proto because protostomping is the bane of this game, although proto gear itself is not yhe main problem, and it is too hypocritical for me to complain about it, then engage in it.
It is simple to me. Player A is 6'6", fast and with a 40 inch vertical jump. Player B us 5'4" and only average athletically. If they play basketball, neither player will have fun unless A is sadistic or has serious ego problems. It is neither A or Bs fault. Neither is the bad guy or too blame for this. If they are going to have fun playing though the solution MUST come from A. A must handicap himself so he will be challenged and B have a chance of winning. If A doesn't do this, then he us being an ass. If he blames B for the problem, he is a bigger ass, and if he invites 5 of his 6+ footer friends to play on his team against players like B, then he probably plays Dust in a big corp.
Because, that's why.
