I use Proto so I don't become one of those scrubs who say 'I haz skillz!' even though they just went 8/11. 'But I was using STD, so that proves I'm gud!' 
I think those that say 'I do well in BPO/STD/MLT' actually do know that they're bad. They know that if they used Proto, they wouldn't be able to hold a > 2.00 K/D, and then they'd have to face the realisation that they don't have as much skill as they made out.
When people say 'I have a low K/D because I run BPO/STD/MLT', it's just a poor excuse to cover up their lack of skill. If these people are truly as good as they say, I challenge them to run exclusively Proto for a week, then post the pic of their > 10.00 K/D. Then, and only then, will I retract this post, and say 'Yes, you're right; you are simply so skilled that you need to limit yourself by using BPO/STD/MLT.

I make a profit running Proto. Even if I didn't though, I have enough ISK to back me up till the servers die.

I wish I could not care, but I haven't fully built my reputation yet. My PC career is just starting.
And I thought that it was people with high K/D's who were scrubs, not people with low K/D's.

I just went 40/3 in a Dom running an ADV Amarr Assault. I don't use Proto because I need it, but because I want to run it.
Forgot to take a picture, but I could get people to verify this.
