You don't even know what kind of game legion is going to be?

I get the sense that Legion is at least a year away from beta. It may have even received the red light.

IMO the best course of action is to continue with DUST, add things that will be necessary for Legion (full racial parity) and get them balanced. Figure out PC, player markets etc. Work out ways to improve the NPE. Basically get all of this stuff ready to cut/paste into Legion so it can hit the ground running. Meanwhile, the Legion team should be busy focusing on making a game with smooth controls, excellent frames per second and a polished FPS experience. Then we can migrate over to Legion for the beta and hopefully to the PS4 shortly thereafter.

I just wanted to clarify that as CCP stated last year they were focusing on building Legion for the PC for the moment, they never stated that legion would never eventually go to PS4 and due to the PS4s architecture being extremely close to that of a PC it would not be out of the question for legion to eventually see a port to PS4.

If I had more faith in CCP I would probably say 2. In fact when they first announced Legion, after the initial shock, I was actually okay with it.

But considering their tendency to make promises they don't deliver, start multiple projects, never finish the projects they start, and be secretive about any progress they make on projects they're working on, it has to be #1 for me from now on forever.

you did nothing but make an unrealated statment. this thread is about seeing if the playerbase though letting development stop on dust would be acceptable if it meant getting legion out earlier

You know... the whole reason they decided to move to PC was to get rid of limitations of outdated hardware (and think what you want. but the PS4 already is outdated) and Sony checks for their patches. So I don't see a PS4 version of Legion.

1. The dev's continue spending time and money on further development for dust 514 as it slowly declines while doing some work on legion in the background?

2. The dev's halt all development on dust 514 and throw all of their effort into getting Legion to us as fast as possible?

No, other PC shooters do not get along fine with hackers. It is a regular sight in PS2, BF and CS:GO. Even at a professional level people are banned from competition regularly for it.

It is tolerated because PC gamers have no choice. We, however, do have a choice. To NOT put it on PC in the first place.

As I said, I do want Dust on PS4. I don't want Legion on PS4.

Dust is not Legion. They are different visions by different teams. Legions vision is a half-baked idea by some marketing guy who is clueless about gaming.

I don't know but we have to trust CCP that we will get our fix of New Eden's battlefields some how.

I want to see what would happen if Eve development was paused for a month or two (exempt for minor bug fixes) and all development was poured into Legion. Would that be enough to launch Legion in an early form to PC where a smaller team would pick up after the guys went back to Eve and move Legion to PS4 after a year of polishing, fixing and adding/finishing content left from the Eve team's visit.

I have to disagree with you on your point concerning the PS4, Exactly how is it allready outdated? if legion were ported to PS4 it would be capable of handling allmost all of the same functionality as the PC version with potentially slightly worse graphics compared to PC.

The PS4 is one of the first consoles where cross-platform connections between it and PC are far easier to create then previous generations. the PS4 is literally a PC with fixed hardware.

How can you say that?
CCP introduced it as the replacement for dust 514 last year.
It shares content and gameplay with dust but also includes PVE missions.

I just don't see the point in everyone ignoring the elephant in the room. dust is slowly dying and if the idea of what dust was suppose to be can continue threw legion then lets push for it.

EDIT: O and if legion isn't suppose to have gameplay like dust then maybe it should and they should market it as the replacement for dust. this game can't survive on an outdated console

They CAN'T Finish it. that's the point. It will NEVER be what they proposed it to be because of the limitations of the console.

When they say Legion will have a player-versus-environment setup does that mean it will have AI clones running around? If so I will not play that game. I play games to compete with actual people, not some predictable AI crap.

EDIT II: Perhaps the first option seems a little bias but I could not figure out another way of praising it, We as a community have to accept that dust 514 is now on the previous gen of consoles, sony will cease manufacturing new ps3's by the end of 2015. while the game may still be supported by CCP the console and hareware are stuck in the past
