For all of you who run proto in public matches. You all are total deuche bags. You can try to argue about how everyone else needs to get better. No. You need to quit running proto in public . It is Your fault that people will not stay to play this game. Run a basic suit in public and learn to play for fun not your kdr. I blame all the proto stompers for messing up this game. I see your point, but nothing will change. The playerbase isn't big enough to enforce any new rules.
I always play solo in pub matches. I wear proto when I want and I die too. Its my choice.
But, I also run militia and basic dropsuits and I kill players in proto suits so, the balance remains. |

I don't run proto dumbass learn to read. I KILL proto in my militia suit and gear, know what that is yet? It's rookie gear, it is paper thin and I still beat proto players. Go to the market. I used to play street fighter and kof competitively. And every once in awhile some new or scrubby vocal dude would say fireballs are cheap, or let's play with no throws, or this and that tactic according to him is 'cheap' etc. What you tend to find out about these dudes is everything they do in life is mediocre. they try to join communities that have years of experience over them and they feel entitled to be babied or get rules changed for them. Again these are the vocal ones, the other kind learn tech, ask questions, put in work by coming out to events, and they get good. Don't blame people who run proto as you should be playing our game, we shouldn't be playing yours. Blame the weak @as match system, or the huge lag you get playing against corps like 1 up and nyain San. Blame the lack of tutorials because nubs still don't raise their cores. Blame the length people stay in academy, should be 1 month of playtime. Blame the lack of isk payout that makes it so people who are not in corps avoid running proto, because I garuntee if you could run proto every suit you would because that is 'playing for fun' |

Where else are players supposed to run proto? Not everyone likes or has the time to play planetary conquest and factional battles currently have poor wait times.

CCP needs to remake match making so that there are three levels of play basic advanced and proto then the new guys that are trying to learn how to play can do so without too much frustration and the proto stomping deuche bags can proto stomp each others asses into a mud hole.

When there was no Aim assist... Players could compete against proto with their skill...
CCP Gave in and gave new players Aim assist.. because you needed it so much obviously...
Sadly it just created a game based on 1+1 =2.
I have "X" amount of health, damage and skill points. You have "X" amount of health damage and skill points. I Lock on with Aim assist, You lock on with aim assist... Subtraction in numbers = winner.
I learned how to play DUST against some of the best players in the game in full squads wearing proto.. when no one had proto.. And i enjoyed the challenge.. It made me crave jumping on the game and getting better.
Now all that makes no difference... I wear my proto with 75Million skillpoints and use the same aim assist someone else does and it is down to math to who is the winner.
Now aren't you glad CCP helped out new players with Aim assist? |

I kick asses with any tier. I play Std as much as I play proto because I grinded for it, I can afford it, and because there are butthurts like you who will always be there to whine about proto players :)
Proto looks badass and that's the main reason why I use proto gear x)
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.
(Hint: hit detection, lags, glitches,.. you've got some work :) )

I have "X" amount of health, damage and skill points. You have "X" amount of health damage and skill points. I Lock on with Aim assist, You lock on with aim assist... Subtraction in numbers = winner. I learned how to play DUST against some of the best players in the game in full squads wearing proto.. when no one had proto.. And i enjoyed the challenge.. It made me crave jumping on the game and getting better. Now all that makes no difference... I wear my proto with 75Million skillpoints and use the same aim assist someone else does and it is down to math to who is the winner. Now aren't you glad CCP helped out new players with Aim assist?
This is the same flawed logic that says increased payouts increase the gap between the top and noobs. Aim Assist without a doubt helps crappier players more than skilled FPS players. Just as increased payouts would help the lower tiers more than it would the higher end players (they are already rich). |

I use to run basics & Advance just to conserve ISK but with the countless death after death i keep getting from Proto dudes, i'm like "**** this i'm going Proto & i'm gonna proto stomp the **** out of you" as you could tell i'm more pissed off at people using proto than most people are.
Y'know if only their was a better matchmaking system then people should be able to avoid proto users, but oh yeah matchmaking still sucks... |

It's amusing that you're blaming the entire problem of people being unable to get attached to Dust on a single factor within the game, rather than some of the very things many of us still complain about. Annoying terrain, being devoured by the map, weapons not firing or switching randomly, having to buy a new controller because the game doesn't like the one you're using and likes to bring up the map at random intervals in battle... and let's not forget that the amount of time it takes to level things up, while attractive to some, is a major turn off for others who have grown accustomed to instant gratification. The squads of proto stompers that I'm assuming you're referring to (And not just anyone who runs a little proto in pubs every now and then?) are only a single part of the problem, problems that we hopefully will be able to shed off one day.
Oh, and some people run proto specifically because it is more fun. Why? Because punching a guy's face in for 550+ damage while running at 10m/s is fun.

On top of not having things to distract veteran players from stomping pubs the payouts don't reward players for trying to push against the odds and earning a win.
More than new players getting run off, it's veteran players who refuse to participate when they see a tough squad on the other side. I leave matches now if solo against a good squad. I used to take it as a challenge, now I know that my dot on the map might be the only one outside the redline.
I think it's lazy and ignorant to blame the skilled, less casual players of the game for all the problems. |

You're right about "protostomping" ruining this game. However, its not the SP, or the gear. Its the experience curve.
But view it from the "protostomper's" POV, he does it, because he needs to do it.
-Its protection against variables.
Running solo, or using lesser gear in this game is just plain suicide. The protection of a protostomp squad is pretty much the only successful way to play pub matches in this game. Blame CCP, because if you had the ISK and SP, you'd do it too.
Pubs are those pesky things that we need to get our SP.

I think it's just boring to stomp the **** out of a weak team.
I usually start a game in a blueprint with advanced links, if that gets instapopped by a bunch of protos, I check if the uplink situation seems to be ok, and if not I check the roster. If that's showing a full squad of notorious stompers and my side has no squads or promising players, I leave as well. Especcially if I'm playing an alt that just needs a win for a key. Not worth to die 10 times to a proto squad with a low SP character. And no fun as well. |

Leaving the battle isn't the answer. The pool of players is too small. As sad and unfortunate as it is to recognize an enemy you can't beat, being able to recognize a threat and run away is part of the game. CCP even advises it in a tool tip, so check your target's info, and run away if you are outclassed. *recognition of the types of rep tools helps... If they have multiple reps going, your ONLY chance is the extreme alpha strike weapons (RE, PC, FG). If you don't have the right weapon to beat the rep train, run away.
If you put together a full squad of vets the only thing that will beat them is another full squad of vets. The potential imbalance is exacerbated with random n00bs who might charge into a 0/13 slaughter. They'll do that until they quit or learn not to do that.

There is no "militia/adv only" mode, this is CCP's design ATM
People play in teams and don't want to lose and also want to be a effective part of that team. There is nothing douchey (sp?) about that is there?
I hate getting stomped too (debatable weather using officer gear in pubs is douche)
But it's usually a team that you lose to or it's a lack of a good team for why you lost.
So I think your (everyone's) issues are matchmaking and lack of modes that are friendly to new/intermediate players
I run adv gear 90% of the time (I'm thrifty:)
You have to understand that running anything but proto is inefficient
For example, When you add a complex dmg mod to an adv weapon, you are more or less giving it the dmg profile of its proto counterpart but without the increased optimal range
So why not ditch the complex mod and just use the proto weapon? The fitting requirements are higher, right? And proto suits solve that issue

Unfortunately, many veteran players still care about their KDR. They want to wipe new players off the map to pad their egos, it is a feeding frenzy, this gets old fast with many players, Isk is not a problem with veterans, so what would be the rational (because you can) is a poor excuse in my book. I enjoy a bar fight match that has bodies flying everywhere on both sides, would it be that much trouble to dial it back abit and maybe help newer players (the few that stay) instead of bullying them constantly. |

Just as a reminder, some other fps games forced 'Auto Balance' on matches while they were still going. You could be winning solidly and then all of the sudden you would be on the other team. It prevents or reduces stomping, but ruins squad play.

This just isn't true. The small playerbase and the number of solo players doesn't lead to as many squad stomps as people make it sound. Many times its a squad with a bunch of horrible blue dots trying to fend off 16 solo veteran players.
I went through a stretch a week or so ago where I lost like 8 matches in a row with a beast squad. We'd have over a hundred kills in the squad and lose. |

Bro, you dudes need the new players here or else the game won't properly survive. Developers know this. You got the ultra hardcore spending countless hours on Dust and then there is everybody else whom make up the majority of the playerbase. The dudes aren't asking for handouts but just want a fair chance. This must be considered if CCP wants to go to PS4. Dudes will stop playing and play other titles that doesn't punish for not being in clan, not running proto, and lessening your SP gain for lackluster efforts.
While SOCOM was fun, where is it now? While bros loved MAG, where is it now? Yet more user friendly FPS MP are franchises on consoles and are still highly successful while hardcore shooters are stuff of "remember when?".
Not everybody wants to be a try hard bro.
