Now all that makes no difference... I wear my proto with 75Million skillpoints and use the same aim assist someone else does and it is down to math to who is the winner.

Now aren't you glad CCP helped out new players with Aim assist?

This is the same flawed logic that says increased payouts increase the gap between the top and noobs. Aim Assist without a doubt helps crappier players more than skilled FPS players. Just as increased payouts would help the lower tiers more than it would the higher end players (they are already rich).

Sir Punchalot has heard your complaints and will deal with them according to his rigorous code of knightly honor and... I'm screwin' with ya. He's just gonna Falcon Punch your face. It's amusing that you're blaming the entire problem of people being unable to get attached to Dust on a single factor within the game, rather than some of the very things many of us still complain about. Annoying terrain, being devoured by the map, weapons not firing or switching randomly, having to buy a new controller because the game doesn't like the one you're using and likes to bring up the map at random intervals in battle... and let's not forget that the amount of time it takes to level things up, while attractive to some, is a major turn off for others who have grown accustomed to instant gratification. The squads of proto stompers that I'm assuming you're referring to (And not just anyone who runs a little proto in pubs every now and then?) are only a single part of the problem, problems that we hopefully will be able to shed off one day. Oh, and some people run proto specifically because it is more fun. Why? Because punching a guy's face in for 550+ damage while running at 10m/s is fun. My Plasma Cannon says "Hello" to your face~

I have a hard time playing and not caring about winning or losing. If I think I need to bring out the big guns to push my team over the top, I will. On top of not having things to distract veteran players from stomping pubs the payouts don't reward players for trying to push against the odds and earning a win. More than new players getting run off, it's veteran players who refuse to participate when they see a tough squad on the other side. I leave matches now if solo against a good squad. I used to take it as a challenge, now I know that my dot on the map might be the only one outside the redline. I think it's lazy and ignorant to blame the skilled, less casual players of the game for all the problems.

You're right about "protostomping" ruining this game. However, its not the SP, or the gear. Its the experience curve. But view it from the "protostomper's" POV, he does it, because he needs to do it. -Its protection against variables. Running solo, or using lesser gear in this game is just plain suicide. The protection of a protostomp squad is pretty much the only successful way to play pub matches in this game. Blame CCP, because if you had the ISK and SP, you'd do it too. Pubs are those pesky things that we need to get our SP.

I usually start a game in a blueprint with advanced links, if that gets instapopped by a bunch of protos, I check if the uplink situation seems to be ok, and if not I check the roster. If that's showing a full squad of notorious stompers and my side has no squads or promising players, I leave as well. Especcially if I'm playing an alt that just needs a win for a key. Not worth to die 10 times to a proto squad with a low SP character. And no fun as well.
