I mean the progression system is cool and all but when you can't even fully fit a Marduk G-1 with basic modules, whats the point exactly..?
I mean, the idea behind the progression was to have them more in line with dropsuits but I don't have any problem at all outfitting a basic dropsuit with basic modules. Hell, I can fit some complexes in there if I really wanted to, maybe even sacrifice a smidgen and get a prototype weapon on the thing and do some real damage.
Tanks? Nah. Paper thin fits because I can't fit a Marduk G-1 with even basic stuff. Here's what I wound up going with:
Highs: x2 Militia Scanners (useless) x1 Basic Fuel Injector (meh)
Lows: Complex Light Armor Repairer (can't fit a basic heavy repairer as it's too PG costly but this works just as well) Basic 120mm Armor Plates Basic Armor Hardener Militia Blaster Ammo Expansion Unit
Turret: 80GJ Blaster
So, I dunno, Engineering and Electronics don't increase base PG/CPU so it's basically trying to fight a losing battle against the low fitting ability. I might as well just run the Madrugar because it has just -SO MUCH- more PG/CPU and thereby can fit things a bit easier. I can run the same exact fit as the one listed above and have PG/CPU to spare to upgrade some things.
I really don't see a point in using the Marduk when you're sacrificing PG/CPU to not have turrets - that part doesn't make any sense to me. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just say: "Madrugar G-1 has 100% reduced PG/CPU costs of Standard Small Turrets, G/1-Series has 100% reduced PG/CPU of advanced small turrets, and Gk.0 has 100% reduced PG/CPU costs of Prototype small turrets" instead of just making them just generally better? I mean, hell, they already have the turrets built in -AND- they get PG/CPU increase? That's just lulzy.
Why punish Solo HAVs just because they don't want the two small turrets? Personally, I run the Solo HAV as a preference because I'd rather my team-mates be on the ground doing something productive than shooting aimlessly at the sky being generally useless.
TL;DR - Thoughts 1) Solo HAVs are unnecessarily punished because they don't want two team-mates being generally useless in their tanks. 2) Electronics/Engineering skills that don't increase PG/CPU making it unnecessarily difficult to fit basic modules with the same freedom that you see in Infantry, thereby creating a brick wall in the progression, forcing them to use higher tiered vehicles to use minimally effective gear or investing -INSANE- amounts of SP to get Fitting Optimization skills. 3) Honestly think we need to advance a few generations in technology and have 'Vehicle Drop Uplinks' so we can stop losing vehicles to RDV shenanigans through no fault of our own. 4) No Large Blaster Turret cooldown skill? Thing overheats at half of the magazine, hard as hell to manage around between that and constantly having to reload (although I predicted this was going to be a problem during development). 5) Bugs abound like SHAVs having two turrets built in anyway and small blasters being generally ****ed off.

They said solo HAVs would be speedier, but nope same speed et al. Yeah, I'm not getting advantage of a solo HAV when even the fitting is nerfed relative to the "crew" version.

Both "solo" HAVs are currently bugged, in addition to "losing" the PG and CPU normally reserved for small turrets, they also have with nothing fitted additional CPU and PG used up as if they had a pair of militia blasters.
So yes, they are broken.

You can fit all basic mods... if you're skilled into HAVs, that is.
I think the thought was that they should reward players for running turrets so infantry can jump in as they please and the role can be more of a "main battle tank" as said in the dev blog. My only problem is when infantry won't leave. I was in a match today and I got two blueberries in my tank. One was doing pretty well, but the one in my bottom turret just afk'd for the rest of the match (I could tell because the turret never moved on it's own). The thing is, there's no way of kicking blues out (I have this problem with dropships too). I think they should add some afk detector for vehicle passengers, too.

Explain how, please.
The only way I've seen to be able to do that is through investing SP in Fitting Optimization skills for... Well, everything. Even then those only apply to the modules therein instead of an overall bonus like Dropsuit Core upgrades/Electronics/Engineering.

They take up the majority of the PG/CPU and 5% per level (I think) adds up.
If you're not sure, you could use protofits to make a tank fit and mess around with the skill tree to see what's required.

The reason you can fit way better modules on a basic suit is the basic suit has far less slots than the basic Maddy. The basic GalAssault has what, 4 module slots? The Maddy G-1 has 7.

This doesn't really work as a comparison because the fitting resources of a tank are not equivalent to the fitting resources of a dropsuit.
The reason you can't fit modules well on the tank is because of a lack of PG/CPU, not because it has more slots than a dropsuit.

I can't run a solo tank even if i wanted to.
They left the small turrets on it anyways so that screws the fitting even more but even if you take them off you still run out of fitting.
If you use the basic HAV fitting basic modules on it will get you killed quicker because by now everyone has proto AV and you have basic with long cooldown timers which get you killed.
It really is useless.

Yeah, the -one- militia module that actually mattered: Militia Blaster Ammo Expansion, which I applied as an afterthought because I couldn't fit anything else related to Armor. Same with the two militia active scanners which only require CPU cost and no PG costs.
Kinda.... Stay with me here, dude, have a bit of knowledge in the modules that I'm referring too...

It's basic ****ing modules, how much SP do I have to invest to be able to fit basic modules on a standard ****ing tank? Get real dude. Contribute to the debate or keep your dumb thoughts to yourself.

Cool. Now how about telling us how you managed to do that (what skills and what levels they're at) instead of making an unnecessary rebuttle that has very little to do with the overall point here (btw, that point was: basic modules on standard tank).

Someone already gave you the best answer to why you can't fit a marduk properly right now: THEY ARE BUGGED. You ignored that response and went right on expecting a better answer. Don't get testy because of it.
Short answer: Don't use the solo HAVs until they fix the bug.

Do all of you people that complain about fitting , have your fitting maxed in the skill tree .?. you know , for armor and shields ?
I see people complaining and I always wonder that also , HAV's are like the suits .
Wanna fit the best and most , go PRO .
I can't see how all of you thought it was going to be different ?
You wasn't able to fit a lot on the STD's but people still complained about how unstoppable they were , maybe CCP is tired of the whining so they constrict things and now there going vanilla on a lot and I accredit that to the whiners who complain and create non-issues for attention ... oh yeah the troll threads calling for nerfs too .
Edit : Looking at the post above mad me think about turret fittings as well because that does help .
Thanks for the reminder .
It seems that people forget about these things .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

Well, I just tested this myself because I had not tried it yet.
Turret Slot 1 Std Large Blaster
Low Slot 1 Basic Heavy Rep 1 Basic Heavy Plate 1 Basic Armor Hardener 1 Basic Blaster Ammo Expansion
High Slot 1 Basic Scanner 1 Basic Heat Sink 1 Basic Blaster Damage Mod
CPU Left 604 / 689
PG Left 2019 / 2074
Now let's see why I was able to do this: I have all skills maxed out. If someone is just starting to get into tanking there is no way that he/she could possibly fit all basic even if he/she had skilled into them, and if not, then it would even harder to fit some militia in there.
And even I had to use ammo expansion for low slots because I just couldn't fit all basic otherwise. Now, I'm sure that if I had made some other less viable fit I might have been able to squeeze something else in there instead of ammo expansion.

If there is supposed to be vehicle progression, why is it expected to have fitting skills at all (let alone maxed) in order to fit basic mods on a basic hull? Shouldn't there be a skill progression that at least allows a reasonable ability to fit vehicles as you progress? This max your fitting skills or go home mentality seems odd to me.

Whats the problem here? I got shield+armor fitting opimisation maxed out and dont have issues with fitting tanks properly. And im working on turret opimisation now to squeeze more out of my tanks. STD tanks can be a pain to take out and it just getting harder the higher you go.
The same thing i could say about dropsuits when i need electronics+engineering at max. Its just a SP sink which you should have to begin with. I usually can make a fit with a STD tank that has mainly basic and some enhanced modules. At ADV i use mainly enhanced and some complex and at proto i only use complex stuff on that.

Simply what I think should be done is slightly more PG for standard tier, maybe advanced too, I dunno. Proto fitting at least seems fine considering that Rattati has hinted at future PG/CPU skills for vehicles.
