It would be nice to have a battle mode where the player would hack the objective in order. Example hacking A - D blue team, D - A red team. Blue couldn't B until A is hacked, and Red can't hack C until D is hacked. The effect would make the battle more linear which might be desired or hated.

Good mind, Little Angus! Kudos.
A player way back last year suggested a sister-version of that idea:
A giant facility (Caldari) that progresses DOWN into a canyon or crevasse. An orbital cannon null is located at the lowest part of the facility, but can't be "hacked"---it has to receive the Decryptor command from two other admin-station panels located on bridges or sub-buidlings near the surface. The two admin-stations are hackable just like regular Null cannon points A or B, but BOTH must be hacked in order for the Orbital Cannon panel C to be decrypted and activated (GǪand I think both A and B had to be HELD while C completes some kind of countdown, or else C will have to be manually activated again). It required Tug-of-War, PLUS your team had to operate as 3 separate forces waiting to hack in the necessary sequence.
Yes Pleeeaaase!
But that idea was posted before the "Great Dust/Legion Shakeup at CCP" that cost so many employees and so many fans fear and grief.
It's good that you brought the idea back. I would endorse it.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Another potential enhancement to the idea is to have all the points but the middle already hacked by their respective teams, so that both sides have some initial state to be pushed back to without being redlined.
For example A = Red, B = Neutral, C = Blue as initial state, with the tug-of-war happening from there. This would also have the effect of having the game progress to the action more quickly, as the entire game only has a focus on a two points at a time. |

I prefer the original idea, as it allows a wider variety of strategies from the start, so you can either split your force to try and hack further forwards at start, but risk not being able to hack anything if the other team sends a large force straight to your base.
Either way, it sounds interesting. |

Suggestion: The further it is away from the centre point the longer the hack?
What're you looking at me like that for? I'll shank you I will.

Is this the same as what we have Skirmish? Something I would think of is like King of the hill you and your team run around the map and hold a point like what Halo has but in a way of a Dust 514 fill to it. |

Been suggested. Been supported by the community. Been a good idea for a while.
But not in game sadly. I am happy when I see threads like this -- when many different people have the same ideas or arrive at the same conclusion independently it just gives more evidence that it is a good idea. +1 op |

I didn't expect any feedback on this whatsoever, thanks guys!
The current skirmish mode we're playing now I've seen in just about every battlefield game, and other war sims alike I once played this PC game that was very advanced for its time, but not so popular, and it was called Joint Operations. It had letter taking but the mechanics dictated that the objectives must be taken in chronological order. (Also had a built in map editor)
I don't feel alone when I say these current maps & play style is getting boring.
And what about free roam with more ground to cover?
When do we getting to fight on space stations? Or "The Pit" residential modules in EVE?

The idea behind the above concept appears to be to funnel all fighting into a well defined area. So strategic choice in where to deploy in the beginning seems to counteract this. Somewhat like a domination map with a moving target but with more control over the progression of the fight than switching between points randomly.
I also like the idea of making hacks take longer further away from the center of the map. There should be measures in effect that hinder a team that is 1% better than the other from pushing the other team into the redline.
Also, don't forget to have a re-grouping phase after one objective is hacked before the next one becomes active. If object B is under attack we don't want red scouts loitering at objective C to hack it the second B is flipped. |

Sadly never happen with current situation.
Try play any domination now. People get point and almost never leave it. In your scenario teams only get 'domination' capture point closer to redline, because lack of any chance to capture someting else. I wonder if this is good.
But someday we get new match-mode for sure ;)
Not much time left...

My man! Skirmish 1.0 had it's issues (like once a tank hit the field it was easy mode for destroying A and B) but it was amazingly tense at times. I know there were many matches that were won/lost by someone manning the last remaining rail turret and blasting away at the MCC. |

It makes me sad to burst bubbles because I too see the vast potential this game has, even in its current state. However given that it appears that there is barely even a skeleton crew working on DUST, I dont expect them to be able to do something like this :(
Personally I always wanted them to open up the MCC`s in game so we could have a proper Titan mode - BF2142 style.
Still the OP`s idea has merit and I think similar things have come up before with a lot of support from the players.
