Maybe make it so depots dont reset scanner cooldowns?
Maybe add in scan immunity after being scanned where you are scan immune for X seconds after being hit by an active scanner? |

I'm probably in the minority but I don't think active scanners are anymore scrubby than dampened out shotgunners with REs.
I also believe that in the time of "permascans" someone who does fit for avoiding scans has a HUGE advantage because people are so used to seeing everyone. With scouts being much less of a spammed class it sets up the true scout artists to have a lot of success.

It takes three scanners with a Gallogi to achieve permascans with flux scanners.
Also, if you're using all of those proto scanners using a standard suit is really a stupid idea, because you're already spending so much you might as well run proto.
And finally, it's only 90 degrees. If someone wants to go into a completely specialised role with a high degree of SP investment in that job and devote all their equipment to the task and play as a weak suit so they can do it, I don't mind being permascanned if I refuse to dampen properly and refuse to come in from any direction other than a completely obvious one, especially seeing as my assault is vastly tougher and harder hitting than them.

I think the db/precision balance between suits is ok at this point. Ewar should be an important part of the battlefield and a viable specialty. The problem is that scan data is shared amongst the entire team. Having a consistent picture of the battlefield should be managed from squad to squad, as it makes for a very powerful advantage. We shouldn't be sacrificing ewar balance in the name of making solo players more effective, it should primarily be a teamwork encouraging tool and a force multiplier for organized groups.

OuchGǪthis is a difficult subject.
If we haven't notice by now, CCP adores the mechanic called EWAR. They will not likely ever tone down the tailor-made "bonuses" that exclusive suits have when it comes to evading scans, and the scary tension that suddenly comes over us when a scan is run and suddenly 20 red mercs light up and look to the right in unison like deer in the headlights.
I have hit the "Like" button on the players whose posts I agree with.
And special Kudos to Thor, for pointing out my agreed opinion about the Cloaker Scout Suits being different from true-skilled Scout players! Rock on, Thor.
As long as there is a fall-off mechanic in the game that will automatically cancel your EWAR bonus you may have, and give the adversary some brief chance to escape you or detect you, I think we should accept the way things are (maybe not fully comfortable for us, but acceptable).
Having the scan results appear on the entire team's HUD is acceptable to me, because the "fall-off" is that the reading only lasts about 5 seconds (and can be reduced by CCP in the future if we need to do that).
Having exclusive Scout suits evade almost every scan is acceptable, so long as you'll have to BUILD your suit to accomplish that, AND efforts are being made to give Installations (CRU, GUN Installation, etc) enough native scanning to protect you from a dampened red who is sneaking up on you, and make even the most dampened Scout's invisibility fall off.
And I think Rattati's team mentioned they are TRYING to script a squad-version of the scanners to compete with the team-version scanner currently being used, and ultimately make the team-version scanner less frequent on the battlefield.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Didn't Medium Frames JUST get an EWAR buff?
I was under the impression that Assaults and Logis just got a major buff to their ability to dampen and beat scans.
I just, I don't understand what the problem is and what you want done with it.
I can see maybe reducing the number of team shared scanners, but if you want to further buff Medium Frame EWAR you blatantly take that role from scouts.
I get the frustration, but you have Complex Dampeners at your disposal if you really hate seeing the message that badly.

That is why you run as a duo. If there are cloak scouts on the enemy team, me and my logi both run needles. He dies, i destroy scout. I die, scout is left with 20 armor for logi to destroy.

"Technically." There needs to be like a 1-2 sec delay between bursts, but that's negligible. Oh, and you can still fit a third proto scanner if you really want, I typically have a Focused in case a scout wises up. (And the suit only costs 55-80k, not too bad)
Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:And finally, it's only 90 degrees. Thanks for reminding me, in fact there actually is an amount of "spin-to-win" still functional, so the actual range is more like +180-¦.

And yet when I run a ~300-450hp PROTO Cal scout dedicated to scanning (using 2-4 of my MAXIMUM 6 available slots for ewar mods) and costs over 5mil SP of an investment, everyone loses their sh*t and some how that's OP. I was thinking maybe if the active scans only propagated to the TACNET of people within a certain range of the logi that might do something (especially in regards to supply depot ballet scanning).

You know whats funny?
In almost all of my daily matches, I run a bluepring SEVR logi suit. It has no modules on it to reduce scan profile. I have my cores at 5, so that should make my profile -45Db.
There are so many people out there using militia scanners that I see SCAN ATTEMPT PREVENTED anearly as often as I see YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED.
Now, sure, when I'm in PC I get scanned all the time. I expect to, so I don't care when it happens. The scanner doesnt know if I'm a logi, a scout or a heavy just that I'm there. My PC suit has 2 precision enhancers, which get's that logi suit to a precision of -27Db and a 13M range ( i think it's 13M) anyways, even if a scout tries to run in behind me, I have a few seconds that he's on my tacnet so long as he's not completely damped. I kill a lot of shotgun scouts in that suit, even when they do scan me first.
Stop worrying about active scanners so much. They DO NOT give you enough detail to know if you can win a fight or even what you're up against. They can only show you the amount of people in front of you, and while that can be important, it's not the key to winning a fight. |

Something like that would finally give my Assault a worthwhile equipment to use that isn't Nanohives. Mite b cool It would help a bit with the Ambush steamrolls you see so often.
After the scan changes, it's become so easy for teams to just zerg the red dot swarm while permascans light up everyone on the field. Scanning is so incredibly stupid right now. There need to be more counterplay options for it besides "Oh just waste all your low slots on dampeners!"

Like I said in the OP, everyone else can be permascanned, and it makes for boring matches.
yeah man squads of cloaked sg re scouts going 40-8 make for exciting matches If you're being sarcastic, Im not sure why, since the gist of my post is that it results in boring gameplay and isnt very fun for anyone but scouts. Or 75/11 as I had the pleasure to watch a Third Rock member go with a scout using REs only - a mere 36 hours ago. okay?.....that was one member, wasn't your complaint about squads of them? try to be consistent little imp .. you people with scanners never move a step without scanning an area.... you aren't slayers you are opportunist you run away at the first sight of danger but you feel brave when you see a MLT suit lmao
No. Another poster complained about squads of scouts. Although squads of scouts are like squads of heavies -- a symptom of a problem.
I have no complaint with your guild member. I could care less about, as the guy above me said, "squads of scouts."
I have a complaint with CCP that your guild member (and in fact any scout) can get away with running into a room of 3 heavies, 2 logis, and on occasion 2 or 3 others, dropping a remote, and making it out the other door and blowing everyone to hell without even losing their shields. Over, and over and over. Not having to stick around to fight is ridiculous. It's only moderately less dangerous, yet significantly more rewarding than camping on an MCC. The fact that so many people can and do do it says 1 thing.
It's easy. Anyone can. It's not that some scouts are talented, properly fit, have practiced, are skilled, have experience, or anything like that. If there were some die hards in the game that could do it -- I would applaud them. The fact that anyone can and does says this means that the skill required is not matched between roles. It takes (incoming made up numbers for analogy) on a scale of 1 to 10
3 skill wise to reap tons and tons of kills. Yet a skill of 8 to defend against it. 9 to replicated it with a different role.
GTFO with that.
And I, of ALL people, saying this! I miss the days when my baby was not broken Q.Q |
