The following updates were made on January 6th, 2014 around 6:00am EST You can look at the road-map here
- Achievements have been pushed back one update cycle (From "Next Release 1.0" in February to "Next Release 1.1" in March)
- Player trading has been pushed back one update cycle (From "Next Release 1.0" in February to "Next Release 1.1" in March)
- Simple Crafting has been pushed forward (From "Backlog" to "Next Release 1.1" in March
Based on the tasks on the Trello board as of today, here is what I anticipate our next two patches to consist of:
"Next Release 1.0" will be focused on "End-Game" Content Quality: Fixing Planetary Conquest, improving recruitment, and fixing battle rewards. Currently, the tasks to be done include:
- Warbarges (High Priority)
- Timers (High Priority)
- District Overview (High Priority)
- Recruiting Tool (High Priority)
- Battle Rewards (High Priority)
- Marketplace User Experience (Normal Priority)
- Fitting Metalevels (Normal Priority)
- Battle Quality (Normal Priority)
"Next Release 1.1" seems to be split between further iteration on end-game context and work on adding options and quality to casual - but not NPE - play. Currently, the tasks to be done include:
- Warbarge Flotilla (Normal priority)
- Clone Vats (Normal priority)
- Corporation ranks (Normal Priority)
- Corporation matches (Normal Priority)
- Corporation advertising (Normal Priority)
- Simple Crafting (Normal Priority)
- New Maps (Normal Priority)
- Simple Trading (Normal Priority)
- Metalevel Lockout (Normal Priority)
- Achievements (Normal Priority)
Comments
I urge the CPM to talk to Rattati about giving the work on Vehicles, parity, and new weapons more visibility. I would suggest making a second Trello board titled "Hotfix-able Items" so that people will be more aware of the work that is going into these important but underrepresented tasks.
Additionally, we strongly need a better NPE if we ever want the DUST player base to grow past 3000 players at peak times. If at all possible, please urge Rattati to include some serious NPE work into a patch.

How about "current game fixes"
FPS Lag PC frame rate Lag and latency Hit detection Terrain glitches Installations still not able to be shot through RDVs glitching out Etc
I don't ******* understand how the community and/or CCP doesn't see how these things could also improve NPE.... If we want to keep players how about we fix the god damn game so it's playable for the majority and not the minority...

The focus on end-game content like planetary conquest is baffling. CCP seems to be placing a lot of eggs in the PC basket and I'm not sure it will pay off for them as much as they think it will.
The hotfixes were more valuable to the playerbase than the entire EPIC - Planetary Conquest section of the trello roadmap.

Now, this is me speculating, but this could be improvements to things like framerate and hit detection. Time will tell, February is just around the corner.

Put them on the trello board as suggestions.

Too bad. After all they had "a working version of PVE" in their offices back in 2012.

Imagine a party host (CCP) asking his guests (the players) for their pizza toppings (updates, features, etc.). 12 of the guests say pepperoni, 8 want extra cheese, 3 want mushrooms, 1 weird guy wants black olives. The host can only afford to buy 5 pizzas (CCP Shanghai is a small dev team with limited resources).
So the host says, "Okay then, I've got 1 black olive pizza, 3 with mushrooms, and 1 with extra cheese. Got it!" The guests are confused, and rightfully so. Some of them will eat the pizza with the topping they didn't order, but it isn't at all what they wanted (corporations participate in PC because there is **** all else to do).
PC appeals to a group of specific large corporations that want to have territory wars. They do not represent the majority of Dust players. Why we are trying to appeal to them is what baffles me. We are appealing to the Black Olives and the Mushrooms of the party, when there are many more Pepperoni and Extra Cheeses.
EDIT: I don't believe that PC should be completely left out of development. I believe it should just be behind such things as PvE, additional maps, more weapons, missing racial vehicles, improving the new player tutorial.

I just want a pizza with a stable crust! Really getting tired of picking up a piece and my hand is unable to grab it or my hand falls right through it!!
I've been telling them for years to put the **** back in the oven...... Nope... Just gets re-delivered with different toppings and still a worthless soggy crust.. |

Never post while you are hungry man. I believe they are trying to make PC more accessible to all players. The reason PC is only popular for big corps is because it's difficult for small corps to get in to, it's not for them not wanting to be. As a regular PC player, I truly hope these updates help more of a the player base get involved. PC is a rewarding experience (looking past the lag, which isn't easy) and should be the true pepperoni pizza of the dust experience.

The updates to PC might very well make it accessible to small corporations, but I'm not entirely sure how. To maintain ownership of a district you will need ISK and a large enough fighting force to have a 16 player team available during many peak times. That's not something a small corp can pull off.
Maybe CCP has some magic that can make it possible.
But I'll draw your attention to the crowdsourcing trello board. Take a guess at what one of most voted on cards is... PvE. The highest rated PC card has HALF the votes of the PvE card. And that card's focus is more about getting PC's game mechanics explained in a single document, not overhauling the entire system.

What updates can be done to the current "end game PC" in order to appeal to the 5 -10m SP new player... ?
I say current because you know the current Dust dev team isn't going to or more likely able to overhaul ****... |

Don't worry, I expect the whole thing to 'get pushed back a month, then another month...." I know, it seems odd that they dont fix the actual bugs, terrain issues and try and improve performance.
I understand that they want PC to be something everyone goes into but so far I just do not see it.

Most of the CPM got elected on the platform of fixing PC. PC has been their longest standing grievance since passive ISK was removed.
Im glad CCP is finally going to appease them and get it out of the way so that they can focus on building the game as a whole. It looks like "corporation battles" might come back, and that also seems to be a big deal for alot of the veteran corps. Get these people the organized fighting they want and the territory disputes, and then everyone will be more or less happy.
Im personally looking forward to simple trading. Also, on that note, lunchtime! |

I don't believe that's true. Zatara definitely is the big PC person, but if anything, my big push was EVE link. But I think PC is really what the game is meant to be about, or at least, that sort of gameplay, as CCP sees it, and hence they want to revamp that system into something a larger portion of the playerbase can enjoy.
The new PC stuff should be explicitly be designed with less top tier folks in mind.
