As long as you use "like" in comparing dust to things like you did in the title, it is no longer a metaphor, it's just a worthless simile.
Dust is your dead father who no matter what tells you that you're not good enough, and that you belong in a garbage can.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

The game, as itself, is not bad at all. Its a great concept with alot of good assets. its the community and its server system that makes it so detrimental.
If we had more people that were like "Lets have fun, this is a game" instead of "this aint not game ******, this is my life!", it probably wouldnt be that bad of a place.
I guess the best metaphor would be comparing it to a sunny 3rd world country. Everything about it seems great until you realize the people who live there are the biggest problem, followed by malaria. |

Someone doesn't have to be in a league or tournament. Im referring to people who use 6 man proto squads vs new players in militia gear. People who just want to farm numbers at any price, even if it means the cost we all pay is a game with a much lower population than it should have.
People forget that with online multiplayer game, it takes other people who want to participate in order for the game to work properly. Since we are doing metaphors:
A 6 man proto squad is like playing monopoly with 5 other people, except then 2 of them join up and begin to be rude and heavy handed to everyone else. At some point, anyone who was there "just to have a good time" is going to pick up their drink and say "uhh you guys can go ahead and play, im done for now". Then at the end of the game, you are left with just the 2 cretins who valued their monopoly money more than other players. |

The title says metaphor, then gives an example of what he is looking for (Dust is like). The example is a simile. This just irks me, as these are easy to understand the difference. Also, I learned this when I was about 10, so it seems like something everyone should know.
