A beautiful lady cooking you the most amazing meal ever...You take a bite and you're blown away...This is the most incredible food you have ever tasted....Then she says 'wait' before squating over your plate and taking a dump right into your food and revealing that she is really a man...'bon apetite' he tells you with a cheeky wink... |

Skullmiser Vulcansu wrote:As long as you use "like" in comparing dust to things like you did in the title, it is no longer a metaphor, it's just a worthless simile.
Dust is your dead father who no matter what tells you that you're not good enough, and that you belong in a garbage can.
Lol alright there fancy pants I do know the difference...A bit picky though don't you think? (Obviously not)...Why are similes worthless BTW? Kinda the same thing just with 'like' in the sentence, as you so kindly pointed out...Just a bit of fun dude chill |

This is a simile, not a metaphor. Simile is when something is "like" something else. Metaphor is when something "is" something else. The title includes metaphors and similes: '(Dust is like)' The title says metaphor, then gives an example of what he is looking for (Dust is like). The example is a simile. This just irks me, as these are easy to understand the difference. Also, I learned this when I was about 10, so it seems like something everyone should know.
Lol bet you was teacher's favourite eh? Relax there Point Dexter |

Good boy... Broham, the mere thought of saying the phrase "this isn't English class," is grounds to sh*t on you for being ignorant in the states. Especially on the internet, please admit your mistake and submit your offerings to the great grammatical mastermind know as the Modern Language Association of America.

Just sounds proposterous what you're saying is all, like you're joking...Sometimes people just pretend to take themselves seriously for comic effect, you know...Hard to tell sometimes with the cultural differences and all...Heard some crazy ish coming from some people...Anyways this wasn't meant to be some kinda flame war, just a bit of fun...the mistake I made was thinking that could be the case here... |

Firstly, I was just light-heartedly screwing with you...Secondly, i'm English, like I said...I've only heard Homer from the Simpsons say Poindexter...I'll admit my ignorance and apologise for my ignorance on that one...How can I ever be forgiven for my so unforgivable mistakes? I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me... |

I actually don't care where anyone is from, or was born...Especially on the net...We're all human beings on Earth...If you're cool, you're cool and if I understand what you're trying to tell me, then that's good enough English for me...Language is ever changing, and derives from usage, not dogma... |
