This is a simile, not a metaphor.
Simile is when something is "like" something else. Metaphor is when something "is" something else.

The title says metaphor, then gives an example of what he is looking for (Dust is like). The example is a simile. This just irks me, as these are easy to understand the difference. Also, I learned this when I was about 10, so it seems like something everyone should know.
