Let's simply study the reasons why CCP has ultimately D.E.S.T.R.O.Y.E.D. Caldari in literally every form and fashion.
Rail Rifle: Doubled the charge-up time Massively increased the kick Now, a creodron breach AR has not only a higher DPS...but zero kick, zero charge up time, & near identical range performance. All that comparatively to both the ishukone and kal rail rifles.
Scout: Reduced/removed passive scan precision capability. Now, not only is the scout completely vulnerable to being 1SK by any adv or higher shotgun, but you don't even see it coming to ANY scout who has only 1 dampener equipped. NTM, CCP's "nerf" of the cloak allowing two shotgun fires before the user even decloaks. Very nice.
Assault: Worst. Bonus. Ever. Thanks for allowing me to reload my broken RR faster. You've reduced the Cal Assault to nothing more than the red-headed stepchild of the scout and commando. No e-war capability, no damage bonus, no speed.
Shields: If what I'm hearing is true, you intend to now add movement penalty to shields? WOOOW. Alright, so not only does ferroscale armor plates add MORE health than complex shields, but it comes with no movement penalty. Armor stacking is king now, btw. Just because your shotty hit detection pours in complaints and QQ's of people unable to kill speedy scouts, gives no argument to then just nerf shields altogether. With no way to "rep" shields other than recharge/energizer usage, a shield's effectiveness is now nullified. Please welcome your Gal Assault Breach AR uber OP on two rep hives. GFG.
Pythons: Oh, this one's my favorite. Massive reduction to missile RoF. Buff to swarms, especially speed. Near invincible, perfect-aim autoturrets on the ground. NTM, a complete inability to fit ANYTHING without using a proto PG upgrade - even with skills MAXED. Where should I start? Idk, let's do the math. It took oh, around 15 mil sp to get my Python where it should be. It costs roughly half a mil per ship completely fitted, not including the pro fit one flies around in. How much sp/isk does it cost the guy wielding swarms? How bout the turrets? Even better, today I discovered a grimsnes - YES, a grimsnes, with an xt-1 side turret, able to rep THROUGH my damage. Even if every missile landed, the BASIC dropship would rep through the damage before I was reloaded. Why on Earth would you think that placing a turret on the ground that would take literally 2 full minutes of uncontested damage output (that could put me down in 3 shots) is a good idea?
Edit: OH wait, I almost forgot...haha. Yea. If I'm just having a good day flying around, ya know, enjoying the sp I dumped into doing what I enjoy(ed), the kids resort to simply ramming my ship with any militia DS they can come up with. Ha, and they survive. Tell me, what happens when I ram a tank into another tank? Sure, getting rammed by another ship should do some damage (as in LAVs), maybe change my path of flight some. But complete destruction? AND they fly away? Awesome.

Well yea it was definitely stacking reps....I stuck 8 missiles down its throat, just sitting still in air. Before I reloaded, bam, full armor. Doesn't matter how many reps it has. I should be able to take it down, especially if I land every missile....no matter what. |

I agree with the movement penalty to shields, it's so stupid, they take up much more space than ferroscale, AND they already have a shield delay penalty on them!
The Python needed a nerf, and it's still the best ADS in my opinion.
Caldari Assault does have a broken bonus...
Scouts needed a nerf.
The RR doesn't need such a high charge up time, they should just lower it by a small amount.
Why must you use prototypes?

To take AV role you should down it with Incubus and small rails. Small missiles aren't supposed to be the best AV, so it is working as intended. And I've also never heard of Standard Drop ship QQ.

Sigh...smdh. yes im sad that ccp is killing shield tanking, i couldnt give a flying raptor jeebus about the scout tho.. the assault works well still just not as good at brawling as other races..
as for pythons.. with high sp they can be rather godlike still with up to 80% resist to swarms.. and i admit im guilty of ramming the odd caldari DS/ads with gallente ships to pwn them..
as for weapons.. id say the BAR is equal to the RR atm.. tho RR has a scope and low kick when aiming down sights and very little dispersion and max range of 101m effective of like 70m.. where as the BAR has no scope, you gotta dump alot of sp into sharpshooter to cut down on the aweful dispersion max range of like 71m and effective of like 50m... so being the short range weapon its entitled to have very little kick..
oh and Prepair for Ramming speed!

I still think the Cal Precision being changed was BS.
Cal needed to damage it's primary tank to get the great scans.
And only with 4 precision...all of it's primary tank moldules...could it get better scans that the amarr scout does today.
Amarr? 2 slots of it's non primary tank slots...to get to about the same place 3 cal precision scouts did..changing it from cal to amarr changed VERY little in the meta.
I argued this then...but what do I know.

Reason is your base precision is still pretty much good enough to pick up most mediums or heavies, and you really shouldn't be relying on your passive scans to pick up Scouts. That's all visual and sound recognition. Not being scanned is way more important IMO. Besides stacking a 4th mod of anything with stacking penalties is pretty dumb.
The way I know a Scout is near me is typically hearing footsteps/cloak/gunfire, quick glance at radar to see if blues are near, and usually from there you can recognize what's up. With everyone and their mom dampening because of how stupid wallha----I mean EWAR is, it's not really good to depend on scans.
Passive EWAR still needs a significant change. It shouldn't light up chevrons over peoples heads. Having a visual cue directly over nearby people's heads while carrying a high-alpha weapon is what makes Scouts broken. Red chevrons hovering over people's heads should be reserved for active scanners because they have a duration. Passive scans should just feed information to your radar because they have no duration and are seamless.
I guarantee if you did that Scout play would completely change and all of a sudden you'd start seeing Scouts running into the open getting blasted because they've been so dependent on the game telling them exactly where everyone is. I would absolutely love it if the game made me use my radar to, for example, see and recognize there's some reds in my area and then actually have to use my eyes and ears to find them and not have some giant red arrow telling me "HE'S RIGHT HERE!".

While it might have been true that swarms were lacking lets not forget something. The Forge gun was always good vs dropships, tanks, lav`s and installations and it still is. A Forge fight vs ADS used to be a good battle. Shots from the ADS could really mess up a forgers aim and as a forger you had to train yourself to let the blast / smoke clear to make sure your shots line up on target.

While some points are correct but the Caldari Assault suit does not suck in anyway. It's a damn good assault suit and has the potential to be the best suit in the game if it had a useful bonus. It's like the Gallente Assault, the fact that the **** bonus is what makes it bad.
The Python as well is not as terrible as you would like it to seem but that doesn't change the fact that some of the other stuff was improperly tuned though.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

Breach AR had half the range (40M, compared to 70) and only 10% more dps your crying over the rail is invalid. If you want a cqc weapon then your using the wrong one to begin with, granted in EVE the caldari use both rails and blasters so instead of bitching about how you can't use a rail at close range why not ask CCP to allow bonuses for all hybrid weapons for both Cal and Gal? Also you can use a short range side arm to supplement your cqc, there is no long range sidearm, except the bolt but it's horrible.
You can still equip the modules... Just because you don't get a bonus for them doesn't mean they are useless.
Yeah the bonus does suck, but the Cal and Gal have been stuck with the same crappy bonus forever. Nothing new here. Aside from that the Caldari suit is probably the best suit in the game. Great speed, hp, and regen.
Yeah no, I'm pretty sure CCP will add that new penalty to all plates, it's not a movement penalty per say but a strafing reduction, forward movement speed and sprinting would remain unaffected. Although imo it would be much better if we had inertia.
Pythons suck, hate em. Used to be a assault dropship pilot, I only use Caldari vehicles. Now I'm not gg to my python and my Gunny :/

Armor has always had it's advantages over shields. Now it will be even worse.
In addition to the points you made also don't forget than fluxes make shield tanking difficult, especially for sentinels and there is not a shield rep tool.
It's obvious CCP wants us to all go back to stacking damage mods in the highs, armor in the lows and active scanners keeping us all perma scanned.
It will be like the logi slayer days all over again. :(

I'd love to see a rocket launcher in this game.
One for Caldari, one for Minmatar.
Caldari one has more direct impact, high acceleration, less splash radius and damage and more precision.
Minmatar one would have High Splash radius and damage, High speed, slow acceleration, low direct damage and less precision.
Then we get the Amarr with their Laser Cannon

And if you're sitting still, the wreckage will either land on your head when you land, or stay close enough under you that you never get the option to hit the Inertia Canceller, and you die from hitting the ground.
The only way to be effective in an ADS anymore is pretty much to deploy with a squad of 5 infantry and have them spend the entire match just hunting AV players on the other team so you don't get insta-killed.
Also, I've been using the Incubus with Railguns and Blasters, and various Rep and Hardener fits. Blaster hit detection is borked so that only the shots that go down the center of the circle register (just like how the HMG was before they fixed that), and no matter what combo of Hardners and Reps I use, or even if I just stack Reps, it's still hard to avoid dying in seconds.
Also, STD Dropships are ******* dead. The Myron and Grimsnes don't have anywhere near the acceleration, speed, or maneuverability to get out of Swarm range before there are 6+ full volleys in the air, and no matter how much HP you stack and how many Hardners you use they'll either shred you because you can fire and reload them so fast, or the Kinetic Impact effect will throw you into the nearest object or flip you sideways so you fall to the ground.

The Python needed a nerf, and it's still the best ADS in my opinion.
Caldari Assault does have a broken bonus...
Scouts needed a nerf.
The RR doesn't need such a high charge up time, they should just lower it by a small amount. Python needed a nerf is so ignorant. Not everybody can pick upa python and dominate it. What CCP has efficiently done is flushed 2.5 million sp i put into python down the drain and made it come near death with every 1 swarmer. 2 swarmers and you might as well jump out because you're but to be lit up. Or you can just turn on a hardener and kill them?
Why must you use prototypes?

I've been slowly skilling into everything at adv level because I've never cared to be competitive and enjoy the hell out of playing all sorts of classes interchangeably.
With that in mind, i'd recently unlocked min, cal, and gal assaults and at least when considering those the caldari is definitely the weakest link. To utilize its advantages you really need to put a recharger and regulator on it, which although its nice, there's nothing really special about the Caldari. Of all the suits I make, the Caldari line especially the horribly under slotted logistics is just incredibly fragile. The only decent standard rifle (as in not the SR) that Caldari have at the moment is the Assault Rail, and although its nice the reload speed wasn't a big deal to begin with. If Cal assaults could carry forge guns then i'd say their racial matters otherwise though its kind of lame. If anything since they keep increasing kick on rail weapons giving Cal assaults a kick reduction would be more favorable.
As far as speed goes, dual tanking at a faster speed on a min assault is just better. As far as absorbing damage I find the Gal assault to be the better choice as their armor repair synergy gets pretty ridiculous with more e/hp then my cal assaults. The big factor being that although my cal will recharge 41 shields a second while my gallente will rep 16 armor a second the caldari has to hide until its fully recharged. My gal can just keep going ducking in and out laying down suppressive fire. Add to that, the fact that a gal suit gets 20 shield recharge anyways I just find gal to be better skirmishers something Caldari were arguably supposed to be good at.
Hell I only use my Cal sentinel for forge guns and my Min sentinel for HMG because heavy shields just get ripped to shreds even against other hmgs. Only thing that seems to work well is trying to outmaneuver your opponents hence why I set up Min sentinels for speed IE no extra plating.
I say all this only to say why exactly is CCP considering nerfing shields? Two of the best all around rifles right now are shield damage oriented, the ScR and Breach AR, so why is this even a thing? Don't tell me we are back to a year ago where the old devs are making bad calls again. Rattatai you are doing a great job rebalancing this game don't let them come back in and screw things up again!
I feel like its this time a year ago again where it felt like the devs were huffing glue.
PS. at least in pubs, ADS are pretty pathetic now, but I spoke out against their nerf before it hit so don't blame me. It's extremely easy to ishokune assault forge 700k+ ADSes out of the sky before they can escape which I shouldn't be able to do alone. When I hit an ADS that's above me and it starts flying away it should be able to escape me before it's shot down, I mean hell I'm not even optimal for shooting them down (I don't have complex damage mods lol...) |

I agree with some of what you said, but honestly I think the dampening bonus is better. The dampening bonus on the gal scout? How does is the contention that a dampening bonus was better in contention with what I said? No the dampening bonus on the Caldari is better than the precision bonus we had before.
Scanning people is useful, but it's not nearly as good as being invisible to everyone else. The change to give Caldari dampening was a buff IMO, just like the projectile damage change felt like a buff to guns like the CR and HMG.

Because someone HAS to be seen on your tactnet for you to kill them. Scanning is way better than being invisible on the radar. (i.e. player x is here he can see player y from a x meters away, player x has the advantage. player x can't be seen on the tactnet, he can uh sneak up on players he can see with his eyes or scans, huh, I guess it's an advantage...)
Gallente scout, heavy, logi, and assault

Well either way, scan precision and dampening is only really useful in urban sockets where there's tons of cover. In that situation i'd have to agree that on a light suit i'd rather be invisible then be able to see everyone. Because if they can see me too on the TACNET I'm absolutely boned with my lower e/hp. All I can rely on then is the buggy hit detection on cal scouts.
I know just with level 3 scan precision I can see undampened minmitar scouts on my assault suits without any precision mods. |
