Being placed everywhere around corners and scouts just suicide to use them. They are so frustrating and if someone drops one from above, I can't even hear that it has just been dropped like a grenade.
As a heavy, I am struggling very hard to deal with these and they are causing the vast majority of my deaths because they excel in the area where heavies are supposed to excel. Is there anyway as a heavy (with no scanner support cause all my friends left this game) to deal with these? Should they add sound for when they are dropped so we can actually hear them? I would say that accurately about 80% of my deaths this last week have all been to remote explosives, and even with being stupidly careful at looking for them (which gives you a disadvantage against everything else because it will take you a second to bring up the aim again, I still struggle with them . Any suggestions on how to improve this? The guy that used the remove explosives last game went about 52 - 1. -.- |

I can buy that at Proto. Those things are crazy.
Adv and basic are fine IMO. ADV takes a good second or two to detonate.

Funny thing is, most of the whole squad bunch up in doorways and clutter around one another so its easy to drop a RE, hear the explosive set and then press the button. Everyone is trying to back up that they cluster into one another and have no place to get clearance. Easy +50's. I can't tell you how many squads I see just running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Hilarious.

I remember you lol I killed you with remote explosives like 4 times in a domination game where the "A" objective was in that basement.
You know why remote explosives are used so much? Heavies. That's the only hope a scout or a medium suit have against an armor tanked juggernaut with a proto HMG. You don't like being killed by them but I don't like being killed by 7 heavies standing in front of an objective.
I also don't care much for being killed by shotgun scouts...but that's par for the course.
But remote explosives are fun....and they do make a sound when they're dropped. That's why its hard to sneak up on snipers with them....well, its not that hard but people who pay attention always move lol
Yesterday was a banner day for me...I dropped 3 remote explosives strategically and when all the heavies flooded into the objective where I knew they would be I detonated. I killed 8 of them in ONE shot with F/45 remote explosives.
and then spent the rest of the match getting mowed down by heavy spam and cloaked shotgun scouts....what can you do? |

A good heavy will not fall for it. They'll hear the remote sound and instantly back up a few paces, shoot the RE or flux it. and sometimes if they're in a long corridor they will ACTIVELY search for remotes on the ground or walls and shoot those. Those heavies are the ones I can say impress me because they're self-aware and are hard as **** to take down. Most times I'll opt out and just go find a different target, one who's not smart and stupid... there are a bunch around LOL.

Yup, I have an alt with proto Amarr Sentinel, I don't die to RE's often. Why? Because I look around before I step. I have that paranoid mindset to look in every corner and above. If I do die to an RE it's because I get greedy for a kill or I'm backing up into other teammates who are staying stationary shooting at the opposing team while I go flying off the ledge due to an explosion.

I love it when the heavies shoot the remote explosives lol because scouts and the rare instances of medium logi suits are ALWAYS running around like chicken's with their heads cut off and when the heavy shoots the RE, it blows up his teammates, which is HILARIOUS.
You should see players Chances Ghost and Michael Epic use them though...I talked about them recently in another thread but they are masters. I saw Michael Epic in a game throwing them through a window and I saw the kill feed rain with kills he made. I tried to do it too but couldn't figure out how he did it lol |

So much wrong. At least logic wise.
Lets suppose scout #1 runs around at 9.35m/s. Min scout with 1 kincat.
He wants to throw an RE at heavy. He starts sprinting in cloak.
Oh wait, can't deploy RE while cloaked. Starts decloak. Finishes 2 seconds later.
Jumps to throw RE. At 9.35 m/s he will take 1.6s to cover 15m.
RE is thown halfway throught jump. RE takes 1.5 seconds to arm. Lets say he manages to detonate after 1.8s (He's slow by 0.3s)
Time between start of manuever and detonation: 2+0.8+1.5 = 4.3 seconds spent decloaked and moving
AND YOU STILL CAN'T SEE IT COMING
Granted, numbers are rough estimates, and there could be some optimization in there. But the main point is that RE's are deadly to you if you NOTICE them too late. Stay on your feet twinkle toes, and most problems will disappear.
This is what I mean, in PC Re's only work against people who are staying too long in one spot and not paying attention. Trying to RE throw in other areas only gets a kill about 1/4 the time, since they can normally HMG you to death or stop you from getting close enough to land it in a good spot.
I've said it before. Almost every time I've been killed by an RE, I'VE DESERVED IT.
The ONLY Exception to this is tossing RE's from high ground. THAT is the thing that needs to get nerfed (And the Proto RE arm time), as they can be thrown from amazingly long distance and be ready to pop the moment they hit the ground.

They should increase the RE timer to 5 seconds. They should make a noise as well, like grenades do. At present they are stealthy, OHKing grenades, which is surely not how they are meant to be.
If you did this to REs and did nothing else, heavies would run rampant, especially once the passive scan direction indicator is removed. So heavies need to be nerfed as well. Either HMG damage or HP needs to go down 20% (or both down 10%). They can be death machines OR virtually indestructible, but not both.

Not trying to be rude, but: Do you want to change an aspect of the game just because it's not according to your style of play? Yes, I also suffer from RE, but then, why do you insist on dying in the same way? I mean if you go heavy and get killed by a remote, and you go back to heavy again and does get killed ... it is fault of the game? In my point of view, in this game you have to adapt, change strategies, and develop attacks based on what the enemy is using, if they use heavys, you shloud switch to scout and kill them with remote or knives, if you can't against them, don't go alone; don't see RE? change to scanner and use flux, this game, as I understand it is that.

And listen. I hate nerfing. I really do. I have no other complaints in this game beyond re's and the stupid people that defend them to the death. I have no problems with a strategically placed re waiting for someone to come along and go boom. I have no problem with re's blowing up vehicles but when a scout can toss an re down from above and have it detonate as soon as it hits the ground, then I have a problem. |

the RE HAVE BEEN NERFED A LOT at one time you could blow your RE in bleeding screen, the damage was 1500 on all re and boundless had 7.5 meters range. you can no longer sprint and throw the RE. remember there is about a 1/2 second delay between what you see and what has had happened. I throw a RE then wait 1.5 seconds for it to arm what you see is me throw it and wait .75-1.25 second for it. BTW this is not COD or battlefield look at the size of the RE that size. heavies can live though it. I have an heavy alt same as Vesperz. rarely do I get RE why because I listen and watch for them. see a scout run off around a corncer don't chase him there is normally a RE waiting a rule for all heavies DONT GET GREEDY FOR THE KILL.
ps the re have a noise just listen for it |
