It seems like people are a little confused about how the EQ bandwidth thing is supposed to work, so hereGÇÖs some examples to help make it more clear than RattatiGÇÖs spreadsheet (I do give him a +1 for the use of both GÇ£shenanigansGÇ¥ and GÇ£follyGÇ¥ in a spreadsheet). Personally I like the idea (a lot) so I want to make sure everyone understands its purpose and mechanics before they jump to any conclusions.
Example 1: This is exactly what the BW mechanic is intended to stop. -Player starts match in scout suit or speedy min logi suit stacked with uplinks. Litters the map with them along a path leading to supply depot -Switches to another suit, drops a bunch of triage hives at a chokepoint, heads back to supply depot -Switches to HMG sentinel, camps said hives. -Profit. When he dies he respawns in the relatively cheaper sentinel suit while the expensive equipment is used cost-free
Example 2: The way I, as a proper Amarr logi specializing in tactical logistics, starts basically every battle: -Spawn in with scout suit with 2 uplinks (the Amarr logi suit is not really any faster than a Min sentinel once you put some armor on it). Place uplinks judiciously, in well-chosen locations (click signature for details) -Switch to Amarr logi suit. Drop a couple more if itGÇÖs a large 5 point map. Do logi stuff with rep tool or nanohives or whatever -Replace uplinks when needed -No profit as my suit is expensive and the d-bag above stole all my WP by dropping his uplinks right on top of mine after spawning on them. GG, dude.
-Insert bandwidth here-
Example 1a: Same Scout/Sentinel 514 youGÇÖve grown to love, but now with BW! -Player starts match with ADV min logi suit (BW=6 EQ worth) -Craps out 5 uplinks on the way to supply depot in numerical order, #1 under the MCC, #2 in the middle of the road, #3 kinda near the city entrance, etc. -Switches to another ADV min logi suit, drops 3 more (#6,7,8). -Ooops! Exceeded BW of 6 EQ. (5+3 >6). Uplinks #1 and #2 pop. -Returns to supply depot, switches to cloaked shotty scout to display l33t skillz while farming uplink WP -Uh oh. Scout BW = 3 EQ. Uplinks 3-5 pop. Sad face. -Complain on forums
Example 2a:You can still be a logi -Spawn in with scout suit (BW = 3 EQ) for initial run, drop 3 uplinks, need to be even more judicious since itGÇÖs only 3 -Switch to Amarr logi suit (BW=8GǪ yay!), drop the remaining uplinks, letGÇÖs call it 5 total. -Do logi stuff. Still have room for 3 REGÇÖs to set a trap or to drop a full complement of proto hives. -Profit. Less equipment is being spammed. No one else is stealing my WP -Rep tool, injector, scanners not affected
Hope this cleared up any confusion. I can always put up a couple other scenarios/examples if desired.

Indeed. And equipment logis aren't even trapped in their role. Conceivably you can still fit a logi suit for deployables, deploy your stuff, and then switch to a rep tool/injector/scanning fit without torching your bandwidth and losing your links.

In most cases im the only one who cares about giving av support and uplinks, what i usually do is go somewhere high, 2 pro flux links, and 3 quantum nanos, then suicide and switch to a minheavy with an iafg. Forge gunners will no longer be able to use suit switching to allow them to operate solo beyond the intended capability of the suit. To spawn on a high tower, you'll need uplinks placed by another person. To restock, you'll need nanohives placed by another person.

Bring a logi with you the first time up? Would save you the cost of the first suit, maybe give a new player in your corp a viable role at the same time. Nobody should be able to be a one-man-army in an allegedly team-based shooter.

Question, does the Heavy have any BW? If it has like 1-2 eq worth, it would still be possible to toss yourself a uplink/ishy hive, but no throwing yourself an invuln nest that is impervious to any sustained DPS.

Currently it doesn't, but the numbers aren't set in stone. I don't personally see why they have to have 0, I think one EQ worth is probably OK.

Your type of gameplay is exactly what this change is trying to eliminate, because it tries to turn a team-based game into a single player one. Like others before me have commented, if you would like to sit on a high tower and blast ADSs out of the sky with impunity, then you need to have a squad who will allocate resources for you to do it.
Trying to roll Logi functions into other roles by spamming equipment, suicide, and then giving yourself logi support with the aforementioned equipment is both bad game design and a tactic that undermines the importance of a logistics suit in the squad

This also applies to players who sit in the redline with a sentinel/Heavy using snipers (Commandos do not count in this case seeing that is an intended use for them).

Completely agree, I do not want sentinels to have bandwidth simply because there is no purpose for them to have any. They do not use equipment unlike commandos so there is no reason for BW. Also, I do not like seeing people drop equipment with a light frame, than jump into a sentinel.

I usually drop one militia uplink per match and often switch out to a heavy frame later in the match. Will this pop my link? I don't want to be trapped in a medium or light suit to keep that link active if the situation calls for me switching to heavy. (When I run heavy frame I play commando role not hmg.)

because if sentinels get bandwidth then it's easy to do an uplink or reload campsite in a logi or assault then swap suits over to go stand in your helpful new ammo/armor rep zone or keep a spawn point locked on a tower. just for you in a suit that can't drop equipment normally, but you're circumventing the limitation, which detracts from the role of the logi, you know, the guy who's there to keep you alive and supplied?

Will I still be able to place the maximum of 15 Proximity Explosives at once with the BW proposal?
EDIT: Apparently so, as that would be thirty BW and I could have 32 as a proto logi. Interesting.
EDIT: 2 waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, what's with this "max deployed" bullcrap, it says 8...

Uplink spam is ridiculous in some matches, in others there is nary a one at all.
I like the bandwidth idea, I want better frame rates...
To a point that I often suicide run with fluxes just to take out equipment nests.
We still have maps that are way too sensitive to electronic spam.
Oddly enough this frame rate problem affects players differently, some are totally unaffected... others are devastated and have to leave the match due to their frame rate dropping to something akin to screen shots being displayed on their screen every 2 seconds.

In a commando you're good. You'll have basically the same BW as an assault so you can have at least a couple pieces of EQ out.

Quality over Quantity We want players to use the best Equipment they have at their disposal. ThatGÇÖs why Bandwidth will not increase with item tiers. We also have the capability and intent to reduce Scan Profile with tiers, so Advanced and Complex gear is not as easy to scan. Spawn first Nanohive and Drop Uplink at point A, redeploy to Objective B, spawn second Nanohive and Drop Uplink, and so on. Stay out of trouble and you wonGÇÖt need to switch or restock for quite some time.
Just pointing that out. This is so that you aren't hesitant to plop down more equipment when needed.

That is a common misconception (see here). The Amarr logi bonus works when you are - Alive - In an Amarr logi suit
That's why the bonus goes away when you die (which it shouldn't but that's another discussion.) Doesn't matter what suit you are in when you drop it. Otherwise everyone would be spawning in with amarr logi suits to spam their links before switching suits, and every uplink on the field would be 3 sec. This way is better.
Example one was extremely common in PC. Almost everyone carried links at the start and then switched suits. A few people in Hellstorm used to actually wait and not spawn in the second the match started, but instead drop in on the first set of proto Amarr uplinks that were placed, either in Sentinel suits, or roll forward with more of their own uplinks, like playing uplink leapfrog or something.

I think heavies should have 0 BW. We don't get an EQ slot for a reason. Even if they had the BW for 1 rep hive they could go and drop it, switch suits, and use it as a heavy effectively giving their heavy an EQ slot.
So yes -- this is one of the kinds of limits heavies should have! |

Couple of concerns:
Will there be an indicator of BW used/available?
I am a fan of prox mines but they are woefully underpowered thus forcing you to lay a large amount of them. While I generally lay a field and drive them into it with a PLC if the tank doesn't come near I'll eventually leave as the field will generally catch a LAV at some point. With BW if I switch to assault there goes half my field which will no longer even kill the LAV. While I drop uplinks I don't go out of my way to spam them and the same goes for nano's but here I am being punished because CCP's original plan to fix equipment spam just hurt real logies not the dedicated suit spammers.
Your game f'ing sucks, but I'll still play it, damn you! Turns out I wont.

This would mostly only affect the Amarr and Caldari logis. The Minmatar and Gallente probably won't have much if any problem with bandwidth. On a PRO Min logi, I could put both a Six Kin Triage and Core Focused on it, with a Wiyrkomi Injector.
I made a STD Gal logi with 3 PRO scanners so I can spam them and have the enemy team constantly scanned.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim
