There are tons of people who names get messed up by other players, or the person was drunk when they choose the name. Anyone else feel the same way about paying money for in-game name change. In DUST, they are free things that never run out. Sure, you could state that all suits and weapons are nanite paste and when we buy an Assault Rifle we are really buying a 'license to print an Assault Rifle' so a BPO is just a never ending license but that is STILL vastly different than what it is for EVE. In EVE, there are no respecs. In DUST, they cost a little less than 20 dollars. In EVE, there is friendly fire everywhere. In DUST, this is not the case for public matches and most definitely should stay that way for the game to function decently. In EVE, Plates and Shield Extenders give the same amount of HP for the right sizes. The difference is that there exists an Extra Large Plate while there is not one Shield Extenders. Shield users get the Extra Large Booster instead. (My memory is foggy as I have not played EVE in years but that was the case when I played.) In EVE, skill are queued to train. In DUST, we are given unallocated Skill Points. In EVE, 625k ISK will buy you a weak, non-fitted spaceship that breaks the Theory of Relativity by going ~2,400 times faster than light (5 AU a second warp) and has a mass of 1.113 million kilograms. Hell, a ship that has similar mass and speed is given to free to every Capsuleer that docks without a ship. In DUST, that same price would buy two of my Dropships that are capable of flying I think 250 kilometers an hour, are not equipped for space flight, and can be taken by Infantry anti-vehicle weapons. Moderation may become a concern but the GMs and DEV could pull up private lists for prior aliases attached to the network. It may be interesting to have player pay a blackmail protection fee routinely to keep their aliases from being displayed on their show info page. Try the new Planetary Conquest Mode!

In eve name changes would be simple as character history can be viewed in depth. In Dust it is hard to say as the only available is PSN name and not everyone can memorize a persons Dust name AND PSN name. No matter what huge thumbs up for name changes in both games. I know it can be made to work without increased espionage risk. The only issue I see is how long a persons old name should be locked from re registering.

You see at the time I chose my name I had never played mmos before. I never chatted in other games plus I was really just trying this game out. So, I did what i usually do. i created a female character simply because they are easier on the eyes. Anyways, since I had the female character I figure I might as well give it a female name. I had the kids help me with that. i wanted something spacy so Luna it was. The kids chose the Mcduffing name which later turn out that they where trolling me. To me it sounded Irish. I envision my character as some perky yet easy to set off (short tempered and feisty) Irish female with fire red hair. My girl told me it was a joke to make my character sound like McDonalds as in the fast food restaurant. HAHAH damn kids. Anyways, I liked the name for a bit until I figure that since I was playing this game a lot I might as well buy a mic. At the beginning it wasn't a problem because I did not belong to any corps but, once I did and everybody started calling me Lune ugh I wasn't happy. Luna go over there! Luna repair me. Lune hack whatever. I cringed every time I heard it.After a year or so of hearing it now I'm use to it and like other said, since my reputation is building up (hopefully a good reputation) then I don't see the need to change it any more. I still do fantasize about other names I would had named my character. Here are some. Most of them are joke names. Grandma - because when you got killed or beat then people will say oh men you got beat by grandma. Blade Rogers - base on a fictional character from the show the kids in the hall. He was a fictional **** star The Butcher's bastard son - great for a heavy character. El Bastardo - the bastard in spanish Galactico - The character from the animation starketeers EMPTY SLOT - I think this one was already taken. There where others but, they are inappropriate names so I wont mention them here.

Part of the charm through this time is you build your reputation in the game on your character name. Your actions and misactions stay with you. This is a vital part to CCP games and the New Eden Galaxy. Creating proper warnings in the character creation process for new players trying out the product makes sense? Warning them that this name is permanent and you cannot change it ever will go a long way to avoiding these problems. People have to make a new PSN account to change their PSN name... There should be no difference ever in DUST. Specially when there are still major mechanic issues that don't even have plans to be addressed for this IP. And you have that whole issue with Killing Nanite injectors from the game, That I warned you and CCP about for a year and a half now? What are revives down by 600% now? Truly sad.

My Brain will hurt for the rest of the day after trying to wrap my mind around the whole PC Players know better and Console players are "Special" argument you have going on. Your Characters name is your reputation in the game. Changing your name changes your history of what you have done in the game. You can't change your PSN name without making a new account, There should be no difference in a CCP game, And people should come to expect this out of a CCP Product.
