I have been talking to a lot of people about a possible name respec, that is something i know that people would spend RL money on. There are tons of people who names get messed up by other players, or the person was drunk when they choose the name. Anyone else feel the same way about paying money for in-game name change.

Oh wait....
I had to change it, apparently people get butt hurt when they are killed by a mercenary named dildomcnutz, that or someone's father was killed by a diIdo. Pretty sure they can change it via ticket but they may not because your name isn't offensive or whatever.

I sent a ticket in almost a year ago and of course they said no so i've been asking people to send in tickets to complain about my name being offensive. But it shouldn't have to take all that to just change your name. DCUO lets you change your name for $10 why can't CCP do something like that.

I hear ya, Not really sure why I chose something different than my PSN name. Prob because they gave me a choice and I made the wrong decision like usual. |

They can't change my name, it will create problems to the whole game, just like the assault rifle can't be a plasma rifle, i'm coded in. |

Real annoyed that one of my character's intended name was taken by a dustbunny who left ages ago (sent him hate mail a year ago, got no reply).
I wonder if CCP can just delete mercs with over 2 years of inactivity.

In EVE, you can steal (literally) thousands of dollars worth of spaceships. EVE Investment Bank (dunno the exact name, it is EIB though) is/was a bank in EVE. You can get loans to build stuff. One day, the CEO just took all the money, nearly 800 billion ISK, over 15 grand worth of PLEX's I believe. EBANK was another where the CEO took money from the corp to sell it in real life. With real money trading happening, CCP banned the account but otherwise would have done nothing to stop game money embezzlement.
CCP wants you to keep your name as it is a "you have to live in this universe" kind of thing. However, DUST simply doesn't have that kind of capability, you could easily have a page that states "Formerly known as d1bc-kb4g", and CCP would love the opportunity to charge you 10 dollars for the service. Hell, I would expect race changes for money as well. Gender? Maybe.

They should add a nickname. so if your name right now is not right for lore, make it your nickname. if it is make it your full name (last and first) and then make up the new one. That way you keep your reputation and get a new name.

I sent a ticket because I wanted to drop the mk2 from the end of my name - I put it there when I biomassed after the first couple of weeks. For some reason I put mk2 in as I thought i was being transparent about my rebirth... I think I fell for all the 'consequences in the world of new eden' stuff a bit too much.
Anyway they told me to go **** myself. In a much more respectful way of course..

I use to want a name change but now even if they offered one up I doubt I would take it. |

But instead I embraced the Dench, put up with Lad, and enjoyed 7. When people **** up and call me Denchclad 7 I find it worthwhile.

Your name is your reputation in New Eden. Names have histories, they tell others of your successes and failures.
Being able to change your name in-game is basically like a "Reputation Respec". I'm against this.
If you wanted to have a proper name then you shouldn't have picked XxXDethSlayer420BlazeItXxX
