I believe it is the ability to retain new players that is the worst.
As for strafing, every shooter has that, but it is a "focus", I guess, in Dust because of the variety in frames and the TTK. |

TTK is too long IMO. If guys went down quicker there wouldn't be so much circle strafing. I don't want it to be COD but I don't really like having to shoot people 20-30 times to make them die. |

Agree. 1250hp dmg. @ lvl 1 frisbe grenade and lvl 5 grenade 600hp just isn't right. Re' s should be placed not thrown. As far as the dance dance revolution silliness in this game , scout speed needs to be dialed down just a little.

Or we just add inertia so people can't rocket-propel themselves at a theoretical 1,000,000,000 Km/h/h acceleration, which ALLOWS circle strafe to be king.
Adding inertia is- like in Ye Olde' Super Mario, you push "forward" and your character doesn't immediately start going, instead over the course of 2-5 Frames, you'll start out moving at 0.2X speed, then onwards and upwards to the 1.0X speed that we know and love(hate) today.
Calscouts won't be instantly dodging HMG rounds Amarr Assaults won't be circlestrafing shotgun scouts and dodging all their SG rounds. People won't be insta-dodging the NK slash of doom from behind.

Go play a TF2 scout and tell me that strafing isn't a skill.
It's done to screw with people who can't adjust aim on the fly. If you can aim, strafing is almost never an issue. In a zero-ping environment, your argument holds no weight, as it comes down to simply "Can I adjust my aim as fast as he changes directions?"
This is the reason why K/BM gets so much hate with the super strafe, as they can change directions faster than a DS3 can possibly keep up. It's not the HD, its literally almost impossible to keep up with them. Granted, they have wonky support on the aim side, so it balances itself out a bit.
Also: LOL at trying to include real life into this. It's a video game. Strafing and Aiming have been and always WILL be the most important skills in an FPS, and they are quickly followed by Positioning and Fire Control.

I'm saying his argument is absolutely wrong on a fundamental level. Unless he wants to say that walking around is exploiting poor hit detection, latency, and frame rate as well, because that's all strafing is. It's walking and shooting.
Yeah, latency is really sh*tty in Dust, but what do you want people to do when being shot at? Stand still and smile? No, they will strafe as much as they can to throw off your aim, and mastering that as a skill is the first step to being a halfway decent player.
