OK, now that's a problem. Un-modifiable "proto" BPO's that are really just prefitted STD BPO's with more HP is fine, but actual proto BPO suits are obviously not.

Oh I totally agree, while it does make some sense to stick with racial weaponry even then the role should also decide. I.E a sniper has to use the only type of sniper we have.
But yea when it comes to modules and equipment, they should have what is best and most useful. Like I am sure most logis want a repair tool regardless of the race. I would hope that the role would override racial availability.

ISK and LP are fine, but holy **** dat aurum-cost. I would have paid maybe half of that at most. (And even that is technically a huge waste of money, but I wouldn't have cared.) |

was excited about these until I saw how they were built.
The low slot config n the min logi makes it quite a squishy suit. i would always sacrifice a little speed for extra hp and hp regen when fitting options are limited. Fitting an armor plate and an armor repair instead of two ferroscale would give me better regen (i have the repair tool so can't depend on others to have it) and higher hp. The kin cat would offset the speed reduction when sprinting and straffing.
The min commando is even more disappointing. Running swarms and md at the same time makes you very vulnerable and reduces the flexibility of the suit. I always run my Commandos with one rifle and one situational weapon so if the situation doesn't fit, you still have your rifle to add to the team's anti-infantry capability (which is always useful regardless of the situation) and you can always defend yourself and your team regardless of the situation. I might try the dual situational to see if it works well in game. |

I've been thinking about this for a couple of hours now and I've got to say I'm not a fan. I don't like the idea of power creep on lossless items. Loss is an important factor in this game. It dictates tactics and adds complexity and interest to the battlefield that doesn't exist in other games where you just mindlessly charge at the enemy over and over again. Previous BPOs were ok because they were very limited in the power it afforded it's players. This is a significant jump in power for something that generates no loss. I really can't get behind that.
Best PvE idea ever!

So basically what this is is, "We're trying out what a Tiercided system would be, where all suits are Proto slots, and quality of the fit is determined by the modules you put on it." Standard modules are forced to simulate a "Low Level" tiericided suit as not to make the BPO nature OP in the tiered system we have now. Currently Vets have the advantage of better modules and better suits, it's a double advantage. This system is designed to remove that Suits advantage and put all of the advantage on the SP used to train the modules.
It's an interesting test at the least to see how a tiericide suit performs, though I question how useful it REALLY is for Vets. For example I run a STD Commando which has 2 low slots, I fill 1 with a Complex repper, and the other with a Biotic for mobility. A proto Commando, even with 3 Standard Armor reps is basically a wash in terms of repping power, and I lose my Biotic (assuming of course that Commando is prefit with 3 reps which is unlikely). So in my case, all I'd be gaining is a high slot which is nice, but not that great of a tradeoff. I'll have to take a really close look at the fits and see if any of them will be that beneficial for a high SP character.

So, I haven't gotten around to checking these out, but from seeing the prices of the BPOs I can safely assume that New Players will seriously never be able to get these. Most new players will probably quit before they have a chance to really try FW and plenty of them will not want to spend the money for Items in a game where they are just being demolished constantly.
Also from looking at module layouts, I personally would rather use a standard level suit that I could customize and restock for 5k-15k then pay $30 or waste a ton of time in FW to get a suit that looks nice, but I can't adjust to my play style, even though I have dropped probably close to $200-$300 into this game.

And to this, I actually run one of my Min commandos with Swarms and MD with dual damage mods and it works great and then the rest of my commandos run purely their Racial weapons (e.g. Min Commando: Combat Rifle and Mass Driver, Gal Commando: AR and Shotgun/PC, etc.). So in the end each of my commandos might have major flaws, but they all do have a rifle for encounters, and a situational weapon to provide support.

As a Gallente commando user, the idea of the BPO intrigues me... except why a reactive plate? A 5% HP increase an 1 rep is not worth putting on an armor tanked suit. The armor plate is kind unnecessary, as a rep tanked commando is better at handling repeated engagements. Honestly, I'd prefer 3 basic reps, or perhaps 2 reps and a stamina mod to help with mobility. A suit that can regenerate 500 armor HP in 35 (44 with 2 reps/stamina) seconds with max skills is better than one with 621 armor hp that takes 68 seconds to regen. Rep tanking is both Gallente and commando doctrine after all. Those slots are the only reason I am not grinding out Gal FW as we speak.

I think these BPO are too poorly and badly fitted (look at the amarr assault suit, devs just can't say that they are playing the game..). ANYWAY! I think they need to be reworked, to be better and worth grinding.
I know they dont want them to be overpowerd for unconsomable suits, but I have an idea to fix that:
Make these suits obtainly by LP+ISK ONLY!
This way, there's no more pay to win, only play to win. People who grinded to have these suits would be rewarded with a decent BPO, not a worthless shining suit fitted by a 2 days old blueberry.
Take out all forms of scans and you'll see how great Dust can be.
Scrubs will cry, good players will love it.

I'll have to try the swarms/MD combo then. I can think of some matches where I had a great MD/Swarm position and the match needed both.
I've been tempted to spec into the galmando. I already have the AR at prof 3 and the plasma cannon looks like a lot of fun.
