First of all: the aim of this thread is not to blame CCP!
Now: 19 months after fanfest we can take a look at what CCP promise for the near (<12 months) and the far (>18 months) future and see what is still missing.
You can see what I'm talking about in this video
NEAR FUTURE Mechanics -Aim-assist improvements (yes) -Scanning system improvements (yes) -Hacking improvements (equipments hacking) (no) -WP system improvements (yes) -Target Intel improvements (no)
Dropsuits -CA AM light (yes) -CA GA MN heavy (yes) -Roles: Commando (yes) -Roles: Pilot (no) -HUD improvements (no)
Weapons -CA MN assault rifles (yes) -CA GA pistols (yes) -Ability to carry multiple grenades (no)
Equipments -Personal and squad restricted drop uplinks (no) -Repair tool lockdown improvements (yes) -Per-type colored Nanohives (no) -Bubble shield (no) -Cloak field (yes) -Stasis Webifier (no) -Energy drainer (no)
Modules -Ferroscale, Reactive plates (yes) -Shield energizer (yes) -Power diagnostic unit (no) -Fixing active Vehicle module usage (yes)
Vehicles -Focus on improving vehicle balance (yes) -Improve minut-to-minut vehicle gameplay (yes) -AM MN vehicle and turret variants (no)
As we can see they give us a lot of what they promised but there are a lot of things that are still missing. Some of the things that we still dont have are very very important (yes I'm speaking about that AM MN vehicle and turret variants).
There are also a couple of things they promised that, I think, would add good things to the game without requiring a lot of work from CCP: -Hacking improvements (let the players hack equipments). This can be a Major change but I dont think it requires a lot of work. -Personal and squad restricted drop uplinks -Per-type colored Nanohives -Bubble shield -Power diagnostic unit
If you still want to add these thing to the game I think it wouldnt need all that work to do so.
I could also post what was promised for the far future but this thread is really long already.
So: after more than a year we dont have everything that was promised, anyway we have a lot of what was promised and also something new. After all I think I can say: not bad CCP, but I believe you can do even better! Keep up the Good work! |

We DID have squad restricted uplinks for a while... it really limited frontline deployment as squads would drop 2-3 uplinks that were ultimately wasted because noone used them. In order for the whole team to benefit, you had to not be in a squad. Thankfully, they changed it. |

Not expecting a patch when CCP clearly said that it was possible to do one and expecting dust not to survive 1 month after fanfest when most of the playerbase probably doesn't know it exists , and now expecting make new improvements and actual new content are very different things. You just expected wrong.
Some of the stuff won't be feasible anymore most likely. |

Dust is always in a state of flux CCP Rattati you more than anyone know how often you have to tweak and adjust....
But for the life of me why I cannot understand why hotfixes were taking precedence over content. You can't even balance content correctly until its all in there.....

If there is any new content you add, please, some consideration the racial vehicles. Its not so much that gameplay is lacking because the variants are missing. Its that vehicles have a racial presence ingame. When youre fighting a factional and its Gallente vs Caldari, and everyone is using their own racial vehicles...it makes it seem more like a pan galactic conflict between empires rather than a ragtag group of people fighting using mismatched gear.
----> Not to mention the fact that Gallente/Caldari have vehicles in their LP store is itself very game impacting; Alot of people wont fight for AM or MN casually because there are no vehicles/turrets available in their store.
Im not saying go overboard and release 30 models. But a dropship, LAV, and HAV model, for each, along with laser and MD turrets. Just that right there completes the game more than releasing another 10 maps will. |

There is literally no reason why 18 months after commercial release this should be the case beyond having put it in the "too hard" basket.

I'm not saying the should add these thing, I'm saying that they said they wanted to release these things and that I dont think it would be that hard to do so. Don't think you read my post there. They DID add them, they didn't have the same results you think they'd have and they wre done away with. Guess I need to extrapolate. Corps sometimes queue sync where they form squads and all time their queues to coincide. Set comms to a chat room and you have expert level coordination. Then you hit the ground and start setting up front lines and, well darn, Squad 1 dropped uplinks but Squad 2 can't use them because it's locked to Squad 1 and vice versa. Makes keeping a frontline kind of tricky. "But can't Squad 2 just drop uplinks in the same location? I don't see the problem." The problem is that good teamwork means goal oriented movements. Squad 1 moves on [A], 2 on [B]. 1 runs into resistance while 2 cleaned house. If 2 wants to back-up 1 they'd have to huff it, by the time they arrive 1 could have well been routed. With unlocked uplinks 2 could spawn on 1's position and save the day (assuming 2 had people die in taking [B]). It's this teamwork that squad-locked uplinks prevents. I'm glad they aren't locked like that now.

How it would not be the reason? Just look at all the time the game has been out and see what actual content they introduced; a few maps, 5 guns, etc you can find out the rest which wasn't much to begin with. After the development was split between dust and legion productivity was split too most likely with already seemingly small development team . The too hard excuse is probably just saying they didn't or don't have time/resources/whatever . |

As far as I am concerned CCP has no credibility, they are quite happy to make bold promises, deliver less, change their minds, and do whatever the hell they like.
Oh and I especially like how when someone asks about those promises they basically get a "quit living in the past" type response.
The real question is why should we believe anything CCP says? |

You are right. Pilot is the most expensive (in sp and ISK) and the more difficult role but infantry use milita swarms and milita forge to kill us. I think that is not balance. And rail tanks in red line, kamikaze gorgons, unstoppeable and ultra fast swarms, summon a ship is just for lost ISK and frustred while the little ants in ground make laugths with our corpse

Yes they did put themselves (and us) into this position. And yes, it was a bit short sighted. Having to rework the basic engine (switching from the inhouse 'cryodon' or whatever it was called engine to UE3) was a HUGE blow to the dev team. So, a lot of those promises were viable based on the engine they wanted to use -- then to their surprise they couldn't do it and all of a sudden they can't make good on some of them. And they can't on some of them due to the limitations of the ps3. That's a huge part of why they are doing Legion...they want to make good on promises and it's physically impossible to on the PS3.
Now, while I am all well and good with Legion as long as it comes to the PS4 too (which could run the platform well enough so that they COULD make good on all of their promises) it is presumptive to say Legion and Dust will become a 'world of darkness.'
It may very well turn out to be utter shite. It may very well leave us console players (the core of their player base myself included) completely abandoned. It may very well end up being awesome. If we like the game, or the potential of the game, and if we can still have fun playing then we SHOULD have fun playing. Then provided well reasoned objective feedback. That provides all of us the best chance at getting a GOOD Legion (Dust 2.0) *coughcoughalsoavailableonps4cough* and getting what we all want. I don't deal in what might be. I am a pragmatist. I deal in what we can reasonably do -- and what groundwork we can lay down to reasonably do down the road.
EDIT: I just realized I sound like a Dev or a CPM. Hell hath frozen over... :/ |
