Because they are trying their best with the resources that they have. The player base isn't that big. None of the player base is required to spend money limiting resources further.
Basically the Dust team is running on the real world equivalent of Domination matches with 110k isk payouts. And since they aren't running free fits the whole time (no updates, tweaks, or anything) it's taking them a while to build up enough resources to drop some proto gear (content.)
But they are trying so cut em some slack. As long as I see positive movement forward, no matter how slow, then I'm cool with it. Optimism -- it's why I got to keep my hair and rugged good looks despite age. Try it out. |

Optimism -- it's why I got to keep my hair and rugged good looks despite age. Try it out. They put themselfs into this position. They started legion and we all know thats going to end up like world of darkness. All of the dev team and Dev's like Scrubbybro are just laughing at dust, personally I want to see about fifty devs fired of my choice.
Yes they did put themselves (and us) into this position. And yes, it was a bit short sighted. Having to rework the basic engine (switching from the inhouse 'cryodon' or whatever it was called engine to UE3) was a HUGE blow to the dev team. So, a lot of those promises were viable based on the engine they wanted to use -- then to their surprise they couldn't do it and all of a sudden they can't make good on some of them. And they can't on some of them due to the limitations of the ps3. That's a huge part of why they are doing Legion...they want to make good on promises and it's physically impossible to on the PS3.
Now, while I am all well and good with Legion as long as it comes to the PS4 too (which could run the platform well enough so that they COULD make good on all of their promises) it is presumptive to say Legion and Dust will become a 'world of darkness.'
It may very well turn out to be utter shite. It may very well leave us console players (the core of their player base myself included) completely abandoned. It may very well end up being awesome. If we like the game, or the potential of the game, and if we can still have fun playing then we SHOULD have fun playing. Then provided well reasoned objective feedback. That provides all of us the best chance at getting a GOOD Legion (Dust 2.0) *coughcoughalsoavailableonps4cough* and getting what we all want. I don't deal in what might be. I am a pragmatist. I deal in what we can reasonably do -- and what groundwork we can lay down to reasonably do down the road.
EDIT: I just realized I sound like a Dev or a CPM. Hell hath frozen over... :/ |
