Hansei Kaizen The Jackson Five 222	Posted - 2014.10.07 17:32:00 - [1] - Quote I didnt post anything for a while here, but I just bought Destiny and already have the feeling of having wasted my precious money (yes, I am poor as 1st world standards go). I just wanted to give a big wet smooch and heads up to CCPs Dust team, because I just realized what an effin great job they did, in comparison with this over-produced piece of BS. Please guys, dont try "me too" Destiny with Legion and stick with your style! (disclaimer: I play Destiny on a PS3 ...) 1) Optics: Dust looks crisp and tight and makes great use of PS3 graphics. Destiny looks like a bowl of stew (a nicely colored bowl of stew though). 2) Gameplay: Dust has elaborate depth and emergent complexity in its multiplayer focused gameplay. You can play it for years without fully grasping it (as a casual gamer at least). Destiny = Shoot weapon 1, get closer, shoot weapon 2, get closer, melee. Repeat 1 billion times. 3) Story (yes Dust wins on the STORY): Dust takes place in a rich universe you have to figure out by yourself, that is tied in with a great spacegame with a REAL player-made history. Destiny has a rich universe you have to figure out by yourself. There is a Single-Player Campaign with a story, you say? No there isnt. The anti-story is so not there that it swallows the campaign, so that doesnt count. 4) Budget (developer): I dont know what Dust development did cost, but since Bungie claims to have had the highest budget EVAH, I assume it wasnt 500 Mio. I want to travel into a parallel universe, where all that money was spent on Dust/Legion and Eve. I have a dream. 5) Budget (player): Yes, you can sink unlimited money into Dust. But you really dont have to. I paid 40 Gé¼ on Dust, and the second half of this was out of sheer gratitude for the good (and bad) times. I just paid 70 Gé¼ on Destiny and already am sure I wont get my moneys worth. The 10 promised years of expansions will have to be paid additionally. Rip off you say? I absolutely agree! Who dares to give me more reasons to be pissed at Destiny? Warning, my head might explode. The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always. NPE status: (Gò»°Gûí°n+ëGò»n+¦ Gö+GöüGö+ Casual solo

This is like asking which is a better game, SSX Tricky or Gran Turismo aspec, well both can have some "Zoom Zoom" and multiplayer and wheels, but the similarities end there. Better graphics are to be expected of a newer game, but the visuals of Destiny far surpass Dust. Destiny has many colors and interesting environments, Dust has gray and brown with boring Caldari and slightly-less-boring-but-still-very-boring Gallente architecture. 2.)About a tie, I'd say. Destiny's weapons are far more satisfying to play with, and the gunplay is more than solid. But the extreme depth of Dust is definitely superior IMO. I actually prefer the interesting depth of Dust over the smooth as silk gunplay of Destiny. 3.)They are both terrible as far as storytelling is concerned. Destiny actually has a great lore, but the story that is told with actual gameplay is **. Dust is the same, interesting lore is not a good story. A player shouldn't have to go to other sources to get their lore, because it should be in the game. I'd have to go with Destiny though. Trying and failing is better than not trying at all. 4.) Agreed. Destiny does not feel like a $500M game. It feels unfinished, which I attribute to the pay-to-unlock DLC. **** business practices that work, right? I hate the industry sometimes... Dust wins here by a landslide. 5.) Yeah Dust wins. It has a good f2p model. Although, buyable cosmetics would be nice, and would make the game much more profitable. Can't go wrong with cosmetics. However, it doesn't really matter, because they aren't fully competing for the same players. Casting is the epitome of casual. Dust is a hardcore shooter with a niche audience. Destiny will never fill the void that Dust does(did), and vice versa.

The only thing that annoys me about Destiny (Besides the idiotic "Random" leveling mechanic due to loot) is the failure of a story, which is sinful for a self-alleged MMO-RPG. 500 million dollas out to have a much better story... Oh btw 6) Pew Pew: Dust weapons feel solid and make PAM PAM or PIAU PIAU or PRRRT. Destiny weapons feel like super soakers making zap zap zap or puff or pui pui pui. Canis Eliminatus Operatives 1917	Posted - 2014.10.07 21:09:00 - [12] - Quote 1st) PS4 makes it a completely different experience. 2nd) Two very completely different games, can't compare, but the Destiny PVP is far better, no lag, glitches, latency and the matchmaking actually works. 3rd) Planetside two is coming soon, on PS4 though, so again can't compare as PS2 will be far above and beyond Dust in graphics and server standards. Enjoy your niche audience shooter, That is all... I am Dust Free, found fun in gaming again, Destiny, hell yes, Planetside2? Makes dust look like what it is, crap.

Dust 514 has no story whatsoever, and this comes from someone who read Templar One and spent a whole weekend reading almost every Eve wiki page there. Templar One was good, but CCP seems to want to contradict what is going on Dust side, with almost everything that is said Eve side. It's so bad that I don't know who to trust, the official "novels" or the Eve wiki articles and events. And that's if you even want to try to get into the "story". The game, just the game, has nothing. I could play for 1 day and have no impact on Eve or I could play for 2 years (or however long ago Beta was) and still have no impact on Eve. This doesn't mean that I hate Dust 514, I love it. But if we want any stories in Dust 514 we will have to settle with fan fiction and fan comics. Other than being of the FPS genre, they aren't the same type of game, and aren't competing against each other for players.
