I've killed hundreds of tanks. I like where AV/V is at now, but it is just silly for a tanker to call AV OP. I played against Duna the other night, he went 36-0 and 23-0, when a swarmer kills 36 tanks without dying once then we can start talking about swarms being OP. Forges have had no buff in a long time. ISK should buy you a small advantage, not a win. The ISK difference between STD gear and Proto is 40X and you get a 10% advantage for that. Tankers thinking that a ISK difference of 4X should get them a 100% advantage are unreasonable.

Can they just put tanks (vehicles) back as they were in U1.6, y'know like before U1.7.
It was more better than it currently is, because all CCP is gonna do now is Nerf the Vehicles & Buff them in every patch just so they can find a balance.

I don't see what the problem is and if there is a armor penalty , it applies to drop ships as well so it would be common knowledge that it would do the same for ADS's as well because they have a penalty as well for armor adage , so I don't see what your getting at .
I stack armor on my derps and I do feel the weight and there is a movement penalty .
Delta should come with a SP or infantry SP refund so that a campaign for one is not needed .

The only thing i feel is wrong about Tanks is their price. I do truely believe that tanks are TOO cheap and the cost should be raised. If that happened tank spamming wouldnt be such a beloved commodity and the ground game would indeed improve. |

Really some AVers need common sense. The only ones that have a prominent excuse are the forge gunners and because they are slow as hell. But a medium or light suit shouldn't be that problematic.

Seriously, if your guys idea of AV is to suit in one spot and bombard any enemy vehicle that comes near your weapon's range, then you are doing it wrong if your intent is to destroy the vehicle.
You want it gone? You better work for it.
Personally AV vs Vehicle is somewhat balanced right now and I would prefer for it to stay this way.
I don't want 1.7 to repeat itself again. And I also don't want AV downing a good fitted Maddy or Gunny + good pilot in one clip while the AV stays stationary.

Why? Because they offer less armour yet have the same speed penalty from de 120mm ones.

Infantry has the ability to gain FULL immunity vs ground vehicles by using cover. I've never seen a tank capable of appearing from inside a building, or changing floors to the roof to make counterattacking a thing of guesswork for a few seconds. AV can do this.
Infantry can hide from vehicles. Vehicles cannot hide from infantry, in fact, whenever they are fielded, they are focused on by as few as 8 people at one time. Imagine if your dropsuits pinged up like that-- permanently visible on the radar at all distances-- you'd probably claw your own eyes out from fear of being hunted. Infantry can use all regions of the map. Vehicles are capable of only running in predetermined areas. (meaning they're predictable) Infantry can peek around a corner, line up a shot in the time it takes to charge their weapon, then disappear back around that same corner. Tanks, have to stop and turn toward a target, then take a few seconds to guess where they should be aiming, all the while being mostly immobile so that the reticule doesn't bounce like a rabbit.
Infantry can sneak up on tanks. Tanks cannot sneak up on infantry (unless you are horrifyingly bad at observing your environment, in which case you could also be surprised by "suddenly" encountering an immobile installation on the map)
How would I know all this? I play BOTH sides of the engagement. Frankly I have stopped using tanks because infantry can do things faster, and better. The role of a tank is no longer AV (rail), and no longer Anti-Infantry(blaster) because using the map and thinking about how to craft your own engagements with the environment is too intense for many players. Heck... vehicles are not even viable as TRANSPORTATION. You drive out a little way at the start of a game, set up an uplink, then never look at the vehicle again, unless you are doing some niche thing such as Joyriding, or Heavy abuse.
I pull out a forge, get into a little nook, then fire away at the tank or dropship. I can pass unseen around infantry, even though I have such a freakishly high DB in that heavy suit, line up a few shots, then reveal myself when it's convenient. You cannot bring out a tank, to casually engage a singular target. You will be hunted as soon as that tank hits the ground by someone who swaps to AV, and like I said before, you can't hide it.

Couple it with AV doing insane amounts of damage because infantry wants MLT swarms to be a threat to veteran pilots.

IMO, only an idiot would think that any dedicated AV user (whose made a significant SP investment into AV) would WANT to be OP, and if any AV user DOES want to be OP, then they, too, are an idiot, and here's why:
There is a common denominator between anti-VEHICLE and VEHICLE.
Here's a hint: it's VEHICLES.
If Vehicles are OP, then there's little problem for their users. They will still have each other to shoot at, while decimating infantry, but AV will be screwed because they will be ineffective, and their SP investment in AV will have been wasted.
On the other hand, if AV is OP, all but the most stubborn vehicle user will simply stop using vehicles, and everyone loses. SP investments on both sides will have been wasted.
AV would be pointless without Vehicles to shoot at, but Vehicles would still be viable without AV.
AV is DEPENDENT on vehicles to function, but vehicles are NOT dependent on AV.

Yes, there are a few disadvantages a tank has along with its many advantages, but a TANKER has no disadvantages. You can wear the exact same dropsuit I can and drive a tank So where is my advantage in that scenario?

If you are talking about skill allocation, then there are no differences between your alleged groups. Why can your infantry example suddenly not skill into tanks? This seems to be a point about SP accumulation and nothing do to with gameplay.
Which reduces this statement into one about a low SP user encountering a high SP user.

If the guy has the same suit as you and also a protato tank, then he should have an advantage... Should a guy with only standard gear have an advantage over someone with protato gear?
Is your team limited to less vehicles than the other?
Can you not use a militia tank?
Can you not see/hear the tank coming a mile off? because the tank can't hear you sneaking up behind it, 2 forge shots from behind = dead tank... If your aim sucks throw a few grenades into the mix. |
