Turret installations were basically made of paper mache and dryer lint prior to today. They were easily taken out and awarded as many war points as killing two players. That does not fit the risk vs. reward design that CCP uses. Turret installations were made more durable and their AI was updated. Now they are worth those 100 WP's.

In a game with unlimited ISK and a history of scrubby OP suits, risk and reward is not a part of the Dust philosophy.

" Live with your choices " ... is totally thrown out the window from the FOTM chasing community where items are mishandled and unbalanced by those who choose to ruin the game threw complaining as well as indecisiveness of the direction of the state of the game by management as well .
You would think that CCP would have given the infantry refund that should have been in 1.8.

It wasn't just the suits and guns, to be clear.
The tank rebalance pass was a total **** up. There was no need for them to become as OP as they did, and anyone with a lick of sense would have seen that, in fact plenty of us did.
When people first saw the flaylock, we all knew it was going to be a big problem. When I first heard "waves of opportunity' I knew tanks were due for a serious nerf afterwards to compensate.
The only upside is that a year of playing ping pong with the meta has every long term player with a nice spread of suits, able to adapt to whatever crazy CCP comes up with.

Please explain "unlimited ISK" to me. Are you inferring that public contracts provide unlimited ISK? Well technically so does PvE missions/bounties in Eve Online. There has to be some way for ISK to enter the economy. The incentive to risk is in Dust; you make much more ISK/SP actually trying to win vs. AFK'ing in the warbarge.

This is New Eden, pumpkin. Players can counter other players with the right fittings. I've run squads using MIL/STD (some with ADV weapons admittedly) gear against FotM squads and held my own just fine and I suck at this game. Teamwork > OP FotM all day, e'rry day.

You don't have to play to get unlimited ISK. Do your basic reading. The information is out there, and it is a part of why this game could never be connected to EvE in a meaningful way.
Your argument regarding counters falls apart against competent players. There is a reason why groups from Nyain were able to enforce a meta, because teamwork and the meta is too potent to be ignored. Maybe you forget the sheer hilarity(and absolute scrub factor) of dual flaylocks. Or the brief time where MD's were the best option for an anti infantry weapon because the hit detection went to crap. Or how about old Manus Peak and the Laser light shows? Remember trying those matches in anything other than a laser or a tank? Heck, what about old Manus Peak with the peak and the only accesible from one side peak?

It means that turrets have to be killed before you can do anything now espc if you want to DS in safety without a random AI turret locking on to you
They could have kept it how it was and everytime a turret got destroyed 30sec later a new one is dropped so it keeps ppl on there toes
But now all you have to do is queue sync with someone, like in FW and 1 on each side, find a nice turret out of the way and play hacking games, get a load of SP for free without having to do anything |

The ability to biomass character's for their starting ISK? Yeah, you can do that in Eve Online too... that isn't new. You can make much more ISK by actually playing the game.

So basically you are arguing that because things were unbalanced in the past, CCP's risk vs. reward design philosophy is void? CCP Rattati and Logibro have rolled out three hotfixes to balance things. Can you think of anything in the game right now that is as ridiculous as the dual flaylock or MD? You could make an argument for sentinels and scouts being over used, but Charlie should help alleviate that.

Salutations! General, while I don't agree with all you've posted here, what you say in this quote, from Flaylock, to "Waves of Opportunity" (uuck,... my nemesis of Dust gameplay philosophy), to the upside benefit that long-term players... has a righteous truth.
I joined Dust LATE in Beta stage (about 50 days before the May release), and took what the Beta-Vets had learned as my guide for getting through this game: "Keep frugal with your ISK, and resourceful/ adaptable with your equipment". You are right,... a wise, long term player spent his time just adapting to every flip-flop change (rather than joining the camps that were unintentionally instigating those flop-changes), and now he tends to be a wealthy member with a handful of truly adaptable successful suit fittings.
Dust originally was about reinforcing that Risk-vs-Reward component that seems to work so well in EVE-Online. All the back-to-forth demands of players (...and CCP's tendence to relent to some of the bad requests--yes, likethe HAV improvements), eroded that "R-v-R" concept over time... and now only those wisest vets among us can sit back and enjoy this game without being torn apart by each new Uprising or Hotfix to come.
...I am ALMOST one of those players. Only Almost.
Thanks for your post, General.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Actually the math works out to like 48 mil a day for about an hour of work.
If you can make more ISK by playing Pubs I call bullshit.
Best I had was a 68 mil day when Ancient Exiles where hired Mercenaries and I was making 10-15 mil a PC in wage plus match winnings.
I have said, Chribba has proven with math..
The amount of ISK generated from new character creation has eclipsed PC revenues for months and months.
All you have to do is look at the new players created everyday on EVE offline... That number has been static high for nearly a year. |

Interested in seeing the math to back this up.
Off the top of my head...
An account has three character slots. Let's assume all three are being used to farm starting ISK. It takes 10 hours to biomass one character; that means each slot can be biomassed twice each day. Each character has 500,000 ISK to start.
(Number of slots * starting ISK) * 2 (3 * 500,000) * 2 = 3,000,000 ISK
That is a healthy chunk of change, but "eclipsing PC" it is not.

They will still shoot back at you when you shoot at them, regardless of range.
Also, the Rail installation will as previously not automatically start attacking air vehicles, just the missile and blaster installations.
