They bullets are magnetic. It's like you don't even have to have sight on the person. I would like CCP to fix this B.S., I'm tired of losing super strafe minmatar scouts from 80m away to a militia rail rifle.

Sure, but I've used the RR myself and I don't even have to have the little dot on the person for it to render damage.

RRs are funny with AA. The amount of times I've gotten headshot kills whilst aiming a good distance ahead of running enemies is lulz worthy.
No gun game? Don't worry. Slap on an RR and make sure that you never turn aim assist off. Add in an excessive number of left and right movements on your joystick during engagements and you're an instant pro! |

It's stupid because there is no Light Weapon counter to its range and accuracy. The only way to get to a decent user that is smart enough to stay back and use his range, is a Forge Gun - and you'd better be quick with it because it only takes about 4 quickly landed shots to render a dead Heavy.

It's like that with every weapon, it's called dispersion, we complained because just pointing little dot at person is so easy it makes TTK too low. How about instead just ignoring what people are telling you. Learn that your super-scrub-chop-strafe doesn't work at range and consider using some intelligence and initiative to counter instead of just whining because your game breaking tactics don't work.
If you don't like it go back to COD, you'll find the ranges of every engagement to be perfect for a chop strafer like yourself.

Lasers work pretty good. It helps to heat up the beam so they can't react fast enough and run into cover.

I see Combat Rifles as a counter , it's just as effective if not more because you don't have that annoying kick that you deal with while using Rails ... I see someone strafing by with a CR and it's just two to three pulls of the trigger and whatever your shooting gets evaporated .
If your knocking rails you need to knock the CR as well because it's just as effective , if not better .
I miss while using rails and then get countered by CR's on a daily , so I just don't see why your talking like rails don't have a match on the field because that's just flat out not true .
I use rails while using Commando's , the suit that boosts and I get smashed by casual CR users ... the CR has range and accuracy along with DPS to boot .
I can shoot someone with a rail and miss half the shots from that awful kick but the CR runs smooth like butter .
You would think that CCP would have given the infantry refund that should have been in 1.8.

Yeah, the RR is a bit ridiculous. Stupid hipfire, too high ROF, ridiculous range due to ridiculous optimal/falloff. I fee like in theory, I should be able to use my ScR to fairly compete with a red using a RR, but it's never the case in practice--I have to have my reticle spot-on or nothing lands, while my opponent (usually a Cal scout) dances back and forth at 80m and everyone one of their rounds hits me. |

Amarr Assault is required if you want to use the charge shot frequently or want to engage multiple targets in quick succession (but even then, it doesn't help that much!). Otherwise, use regular fire in short volleys and you'll be ok if your aim is solid.
The Laser is the better ranged counter to RR, though.
Reality is the original Rorschach.
Verily! So much for all that.

The rail rifle is excellent at CQC with tight dispersion... I guess it's you who isn't too good with it at short range? That's why I hate this damn thing so much. Little to no recoil. 'Visual or Illusionary Recoil', not actual recoil. Sight is bouncy as hell, but the center reticule hardly moves at all. Extreme damage and range for open maps (all maps essentially). Easy to track targets with. Low RoF and high damage allows high bullet efficiency and excellent targeting precision. Easy to as hell to use...
It's too damn good for a weapon and has extreme balancing issues for a multiplayer game...

How does that contribute to the case that it's overpowered with aim assist? I doubt most players would play without aim assist.

Assuming the Rail Rifle is situated at point X, a player strafing between the points at distance A will be as easy to track as player strafing between the points at distance B, meanwhile the player strafing between the points at distance C is even easier to track since the effects of parralax make it require less aiming.
You have now been educated what ever, RR still hits without actually having to have little dot on person. It's like giving everything in the game the hitbox of a heavy even though it's a scout. If you don't like it go back to COD, you'll find the ranges of every engagement to be perfect for a chop strafer like yourself. huh...
Which bit are you struggling with? The science or the string of insults I gave him because he believes as he puts it, his super strafe minmatar was wrongly killed by a Rail Rifle at range?

Laser, sniper, scrambler are all good counters. There is also a forge, a tank, orbital strike, and my personal fav for the rooftop rail the ads. I stopped using the rr awhile back for the cr I just feel its better. But if the focus is on the rail then at least its not on the CR. I've been liking those BK-42 ACRs with Proficiency and Sharpshooter at 4. I never could get into the Lasers, as many times as I've tried and wanted to. Tanks, Snipers - you know I can't roll like that. ADS, I recently skilled into but haven't had the patience or bankroll to fund a lot of practice vessels while I get used to that weird ass targeting system and PoV.

Someone needs to learn their Transversal and Angular Velocity. See EVE online.
Bullets are NOT magnetic... Really it is the way CCP has done Aim assist mixed with their Hit detection system and net code.
When your crosshairs turn "Red" CCP servers and your playstation says "Ok, bullets will now hit" and it isn't a 60% accuracy or some human level of hit detection... You hit Near perfect everytime when your crosshiars are red... Like 90% accuracy..
CCP's Aim assist they implemented in Uprising 1.4 will extend the area that crosshairs turn "red" allowing a more forgiving gameplay for a Gamepad user. Except that there is Aim magnetism.. So after you "Lock, Red" your crosshairs on target your hitting at 90% accuracy with reduced recoil(Because aim assist reduces gun behavior)
So you move your crosshairs in the general area of the enemy.. it "Locks" you hold down the button(Because recoil and aim assist laugh?) and you kill them. Doesnt matter what they have on or what you have on... The only way they will survive is if you put TOO much input into your aiming stick and negate the aim assist.. It does it for you.. It doesn't "Help" you. Veterans know this system like the back of their hands.
CCP's netcode is a lesser of the evil... Mainly because where you are in the game on your screen. Isn't always necessarily where you are on CCP's servers. So sometimes you will be behind walls and the server thinks your just getting to it. It becomes a huge problem when you take in account the bullet source and the fact that the person shooting you could be living on the other side of the planet.
Netcode has always been a problem for CCP pushing the envelope to building a more complete experience. But given that Planetside 2 has everyone split into like 8-10 servers depending on where you live? PC in DUST is still competitive with Americans playing Australians, not perfect... But given what is out there? not bad... |

XD Are you aaaasdff ertgfdd's alt? Or just his boyfriend? Either way, not sure why you assume I need to "get good" (and for the record, it's spelled "gud")--I never said the RR's was a problem for me, just that I think it needs a bit of balancing and that my theory (ie, I should be able to somewhat fairly compete at range with a RR due to similar ranges) doesn't match up with my in-game experience. But yeah, feel free to misrepresent my comment.
And on this note, I say f@ck every panty-wasting little b!tch on these forums, like aaaasdff ertgfdd and his alt/boyfriend, CUSE TOWN333--ret@rds like you do nothing but spout ungrounded hostility and make the community lame. Do everyone a favor and take your useless, tryhard muck mouths and jump off a cliff/self-immolate/etc.
I understand that this post violates the Forum Rules of Conduct numbers 2 (be respectful), 4 (prohibition of personal attacks), and 7 (prohibition of profanity), but the neckbeard brothers broke a rule more important than those three combined, and upon which they are predicated: that is, rule number 22 (BE CONSTRUCTIVE). In light of this, I'd argue that my post is, in fact, constructive, because general douchebagery on the forums needs to be called out. And, as I intend to stop visiting within in the next week or so, the threat of a ban is hardly a deterrent. |

Everything of which you just said about the Rail rifle proves how incompetent you are with it... it's ridiculous in hands better than yours.
Rail rifle: High DPS, Charge up time is hardly a factor with the damage output, ?how in the f*ck does it have a poor damage profile? Seriously, how? Slightly reduced damage against shields and 20% buff in damage towards armour? How in the f*ck is that bad? You're essentially doing 100% damage and then 120% damage... that's far more beneficial than 'bad'.
Caldari assault does nothing to benefit the rail rifle other than reload... sounds like an excuse?
This thread: either those who are debating that the rail rifle is bad are bad themselves at this game, or they're trying as much as they can to assure it's dominance.
My apologies if I come off as an elitist, but I try to view things objectively, logically, and factually.
