First of all, congratulations to the elected representatives. May your voices coincide with the community and be ever filled with weight on CCP's ears.
Look, I'm bitter. Not because I didn't get elected, I fully expected and prepared for that very possible fact. What I am frustrated about, is that now there's a feeling that... I'm running out of options. A feeling that all the efforts were in vain, that my voice hasn't, and isn't going to be heard. So much so that I'm willing to make a fool of myself on the day of the election results.
See, my reason for running for the CPM was to bark in CCP's ear about implementation of an ISD, actual API support, and better localization support for our players (in particular, the Portuguese players). That being said... With the exception of the localization support... This is [redacted] that I've been pushing for -for months-. This is something I've been bickering CCP about for as long as I can remember. Ask Saberwing, if you can find him, I'd been badgering him about it since he started employment with CCP.
Forgive me if I come off as abrasive, but I've kinda got the impression that these things just aren't going to happen. I personally feel like CCP just doesn't care enough to make it happen, and I'm not entirely convinced that members of the newly elected CPM are going to push hard enough for it with the exception of Cross/Zatara/Kevall because I know those guys (and I have their Skype info...)
What frustrates me even more is the fact that, to date, every time it's been brought up it's been deflected. "We're not ready for it" and "We're ironing stuff out to make it happen" were the usual responses and that's public twitter messages, not confidential dev/player talk.
But speaking of confidential dev talk, I'm under no NDA and even though I can still see reprecussions for it - I'll go ahead and say the reasoning that I was given at Fan Fest: We don't have a test server! (Funny, I know, because we don't need a test server for this stuff to actually happen). Being on the CPM, to me, was an opportunity to hear what the real reasons were - if any - and help actually iron them out, or be in a more personal setting where I could have challenged the excuses presented.
Guys, this is [redacted] we've needed since day one... I figured the sheer success of ISD and API support from Eve Online would have been evidence enough as to why we've needed this since the start of the game but apparently it's just not enough. So, I'll say the same thing I said when I was at CCP Fanfest in one of the Dev Panels: No more excuses. Make it happen, if not for Dust 514, for Project Legion. My request is that the current CPM 1 presses my platform for me, cause that's the only hope I've got left for any of this...

*pat pat* There there buddy, it'll be fine. Still lots of work for us to do, even if we're not on CPM. I don't expect our heated talks (albeit riddled with scope creep at times) to stop any time soon. Got some really solid names in there, hopefully they can do what needs to be done as a CPM. As for us, lets do what needs to be done as members of the community.

ISD, API, and localization are definitely among the top ways CCP can better reach out to and bring together the community. I'm strongly behind those goals, and will be happy to pass on anything and everything in those categories.

ISD is a program that anyone who's eve listened to Aeon explain or plays Eve Online is aware of.
It's essentially a volunteer force of players who help CCP with things like lore, events, bug tracking, forum moderation and the like.
API would be like crest and is the requisite for 3rd party apps like Dotlan, Dustcharts, Dustboard, and many other websites.
Localization would be like having CCP reps that speak Portuguese to help in customer service, or have dust rendered in their language for when they play.
For instance if you ever see videos from our chinese players they play dust in english because there is no chinese localization.

If you'd actually read my campaign thread, or at least looked on google, you might know that ISD stands for Interstellar Services Department. It's a volunteer based department with multiple sections for players who can attribute their skills and abilities for the betterment of the game. Bug Hunting teams, Lore, Media/Reporting, New Player Help... It's an all encompassing system that, while rusty, greatly involves the community...
You're right about API - but I'm willing to bet you don't understand the full capabilities of what it has to offer. Such as unparalleled third-party software development support. Eve Online uses it's API so that you can punch in your API key into a third-party software, and instantly have all your skill levels correctly attributed. It'd be like going to www.protofits.com and not having to manually put in each individual skill level to build a fit. I have an app for my phone that allows me to check my wallet, skills, manufacturing/research jobs, build fits, notify me when my skill is done training...
And Localization? Localization is -LANGUAGE- support. Our Portuguese community currently has to use in-corp translators that have to translate, over and over and over again, each individual line of text in-game just so their new players are able to play the game.
I explained all of this in my campaign thread. My "true intent" was largely to put more power in the hands of the community, something I don't feel I should have had to run for CPM to do.

ISDs are really a fantastic tool that needs to be pushed for in the community. We have so many strong groups of people who understand the game VERY well and need to be able to easily work with other talented individuals to put forth highly developed ideas so we can get away from so many 'quick and dirty' fixes.
It's something I'm very interested in being involved in as a member of the community and I really do hope that CPM1 heavily pushes for CCP to not only support, but facilitate in the very near future. |

If anything ISD is a Community program, not a game program. If CCP is even mildly intelligent, they'll understand that the Dust community is *hopefully* very much the same as the Legion community. ISD will be beneficial for both games and is in no way limited by Dust's development limitations. |

Because forums have very little to do with who actually gets elected, despite their inflated sense of self-importance. The reality is that the dedicated forum goers only make up a tiny fraction of the voting populace, and smart candidates spend the majority of their time NOT on the forums campaigning because not an efficient source of votes. |

Right, but the general apathy of the player-base was... disheartening. It was sort of a pain in the [redacted] to go to well known individuals within the community to talk only to ignored or be met with blatant trolling. There were a lot of players who simply didn't care to listen. I'm honestly surprised we had 1000 votes, I expected around 600.

Yes , that's what EVE is for .
Most of the voters come from EVE .
Dust is fazing out so why have representation from a dead weight ?
I just can't understand why this Dust community can't understand that .
You don't have a voice , only EVE players do ... part of the reason that CCP is taking legion live .
I don't even understand why people from this community even voted because you have no say , had no say and were never going to be a part of any viable decision making .
You have the forum and that's it .
This is for EVE players only .
Look at the comments and who get tagged ... who's suggestions are excepted and who gets ignored .
It's so easy to see .
" Your corporation is not well known . " , basically means that your not EVE famous enough .
You would think that CCP would have given the infantry refund that should have been in 1.8.

More then likely because most of us did not even know when or where to vote, like me. I've been cruising the forums only a few times in the last few months, always looking for the vote link, only to find out it has allready passed. In Eve they make election day well known, including where to vote with big massive neon signs. This is something that needs to be improved in Dust/Legion, the advertisement of it, only then you might see an increase in vote's.
Aeon i would not worry to much about it, your voice still matters to us plebs and you might still get a chance at it in Legion next time. |

So less than 1000 votes, I for one was about 2 or 3 of those votes using my alts... I imagine others voted with alts too.
So realistically were looking at about 500-750 people voting. That's a terrible turn out.
However lets be honest, CCP barely put any effort into telling people in game what was going on. A few lines of text does not capture peoples attention.
It should have been in game with an easy way in game to vote! But then again its CCP and they always doing things in strange and wonderful ways.....

Putting new UI in the game is a REALLY tall order. To be honest, I don't see how they could've done it. Also, voting in-game would've meant a list of names and nothing more, which meant few or none of the voters would've been informed. The in-game updates page, however, did specify that CPM voting was open.

History lesson:
When in Closed beta Chromosome, I'm sure the vets will remember this, but we were promised hot fixes almost casually as problems progressed in game. This was around the time Lasers were OP beyond reason. Took them 3 months to fix it.
Then flylock spam - another 3 months.
Nades insta exploding? 1 month.
Forge guns not shooting? Another month
passive stats upgrades not implying? Did they even fix this?
Railguns not firing? Still working on it.
The list goes on.
Now, let's go back and see if CCP directly handles problems that directly inflict problems on the player base - such as cheating in a tournament that went on for over a month. OH - wait! They allowed cheating!
See, I don't get why you can put up with it anymore Aeon - CCP is beyond help. When they sell out to Activision or EA and have there management team completely replaced - then we'll have hope around here again.

Was really drunk last night so I couldn't respond to this coherently, but I think CCP would sooner just kill the franchise (Dust, not Eve) sooner than selling the rights to someone like Activision or EA. Especially EA.
I put up with it because... Well, I still have hope. It's dwindling, sure, but I still have hope. One of the things I plan on doing here in the near future is offering up ISK rewards to Portuguese players who are fluent in English so we can get a fully localized and translated Wiki for Dust 514 going that players can be directed to. With any luck, might be able to get that as a community spotlight or something. Was talking with Saberwing about it before the layoffs and I think it could still happen if I brain the new CPM enough about it.

And I don't see how you have any hope at all - Each big patch we put all our hopes in, Uprising, Fanfest patch notes, ext, has turned into the worst things we've come across. I can count on one hand how many friends I have left who still play this game. The concept that made it special - Plantary Conquest - is now in other games. CCP had a unique concept and they dropped the ball because of terrible management - and what's worse, they don't agree that's the problem! The management refuses to handle itself, there is no hope here.
I can't even imagine what CCP could do to rebuild trust with those who gave them years just to be **** on. This isn't like Incarna with EvE - you still have EvE and what it's about - we got the middle finger and told they're packing up and going else where - complete abandonment.

Next time for CPM 2 i wouldn't waste a moments time on the forums, i think a lot of candidates had a great message to relay but doing so over a sub forum of a pretty dead forum itself was a real waste of time.
We did a moderate bit of campaigning for Judge on my channel and put Darkstar Army at his back, seems to have worked well and when compared to much more 'active' alliances who seem to not even come out for their leaders / candidates to the same level, I was quite surprised at that.
I think perhaps we underestimated how active youtube is for dust players.

I can count on one hand how many friends I have left who still play this game. 2 hands. I have 5 alts and this main.
