Assaults are mainly being ignored because scouts (and some logistics) can do their jobs better.
What if assaults and Lolmandos were the kings of small arms?
My idea? -Reduce DPS from all light weapons and sidearms (except KN) by 50% (amount can change)
-Give assaults and commandos a 10% damage increase bonus per level to their racial weapons(total 50%,and an additional 10% for commandos aka their current bonus)
So a Lv5 Gal assault would do current damage with an AR,but anyone else would do 50% damage. (except commandos who would get an additional 10%)
But if a Gal assault equipped a RR he could only do 50%, even if he has Cal assault Lv5.
Thoughts?

so basically you're saying
why don't we take all the loyal Dust players, and try to stuff them into this tiny little box and the ones that don't fit will be left behind
i don't want any more radical changes that will demand full respecs again

They would need a +20% per level to bring them up to current stats. Also, people **** and moan about heavies now, can you imagine if scout and logi light weapon damage was halved? |

(See logistics bonuses)
Scouts and logistics should never be the favored go-to suit for getting kills,assaults/commandos should.

If Damage were reduced by 50%, they would only get a 50% bonus NOT 100%.
I'm trying to give them an advantageous edge,not the whole sword.
Also,screw scouts and slayer logis.

Edit: Also, your idea is bad. I don't think your realize how big 50% is.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

My point being you don't need to nerf the offensive abilities of every other light weapon class just to make Assaults more relevant. On that note there are a number of active discussions floating around both in this forum and GD, I suggest you check them out as there are some pretty well developed ideas out there that you can help expand on.
Like my ideas?

Thoughts? 50% is a huge margin. Basically you're saying **** scouts and logis you guys shouldn't kill anything at all even though you are forced to use a weapon.
If this is so I'd say nerf RE count by 2, nerf damage by 75% but give scouts a +15% to damage per level and +1 carried/active per level.

RE's aren't support EQ therefore the master support class does not get a bonus to them.

Well I wholeheartedly disagree with the racial sidearm damage reduction. I was under the impression that most of the point of sidearms was having a smaller, weaker version of the other racial weapons to counterbalance the weaknesses of your primary weapon. Hence why I have a ScP with my HMG.

ScP does insane damage anyway.
But i would consider at least lowering light weapon damage.
I'm getting tired of Cal scouts with basic RRs killing me in 4 shots from 100~m. And Gal scouts with ScR.
And having my Mk.0 logistics suit killed in a single shot by an invisible enemy using a MLT shotgun 12m away. (often 600+ damage)

Terrible suggestion. Reason being: Who would kill better then? Commando or Assault? The HMG remaining untouched is a buff. TTK doesn't need to be lower, it can already take above a whole clip to whittle down a Proto Sentinel, it's fine.

Nobody would use any other classes. This is an FPS. In FPSs, the primary objective, above all others, is to kill. Even for Logis and Scouts. If only 2 classes can effectively kill, the others will never be used.

"I get EQ bonus so I use RE's better" Scouts use RE's ten times better than Logis because we can run faster thus throw them farther and we have the best passive scanning thus we can use them from behind walls (look ma no eyes!) and the best you can come up with is a finger pointed at CPU/PG reduction.

the problem is how to boost assaults damage without stepping on the commandos and without disturbing the balance,
I would suggest the same boosts for them as the commando but slightly less to offset the extra speed but I doubt that people would think it's enough.
and it would still be restrictive. so I would suggest this to then separate commando and assault
. assaults should have bonus grenade damage . commandos should get bonuses to equipment (I'm thinking mostly hives and uplinks but I'm not certain, particularly with it interfering with other suits)
failing that I would suggest extra defensive bonuses to the commando suits but with extra damage for assaults.
(possibly efficiency on damage mods?)

This is actually a good idea, but as a small role bonus. Though for the commandos it would end up having to be all equipment (I use scanners and reptools mostly on my commandos ) |
