Hey guys
So while doing some testing, I quickly tried some mad science with the sniper crosshair. The result of which was this:
Essentially, it's the laser rifle crosshair on the sniper when zoomed in.
Thoughts? Is this something you would like to see changed?

Give all sniper rifles the same magnification like the thale tar-07. That should help out most of the snipers using non officer rifles. |

I can't tell how this is that different from the current sniper rifle scope zoom. Is it the zoom level? Or just the circular crosshair that's changed? A side-by-side comparison would be great.

Love it.
Any chance we could get the sight on the PLC changed to something more useful, like that of the Mass Driver?

The Plc is actually brilliant.
That little dot on the bottom? Line your target up with it at 40m~, then estimate 'doubling' that distance from the center every 40m past that.

Tricky CCP you will not have my eyes till i have some Thales, we need more zoom.
BTW i like it, it's darker than before, finally i will not look for the reticule when i pass on white zone.
Question: will it have a new crossair when not aiming down sight?

There will continue to be no crosshair when not aiming down the sight. This is intentional.
Discussion about Zoom and other changes for snipers are best left to Delta, this is just something quick we messed around with.

This is one of the main points to help snipers to come out of the redline, but ok, let's keep it for delta.

When I was Sniping the method for long range shots was to completely obscure the target, or the targetGÇÖs head (depending on distance) with the dot. If you could no longer see it, then you would get a hit.
Actually being able to see what you are aiming at would be a quite a change.
I was fine with the dot, but I am old school. This might work better. Instead of trying to obscure the target with the dot, you would be trying to center the target in the little circle. If the circle is small enough it will probably work well.
Really canGÇÖt be sure until I try it. Is there anyone in the Shanghai office that Snipes regularly who could test this and give you an expert's opinion?

Lynn Beck wrote: Edit: could you put a person's head in the center of that dot at typical sniper ranges?
Example: Heavy head at 300,400,500 meters Scout head at 400,500 meters.
Also, is the 'hit zone' EG size of the bullet as wide as the hole in that reticule?
If he's 'inside' my reticule, but his head is not dead-center, will it hit?
This please. It would help us give a verdict if we could see it in a Sniper scenario.
How many pixels are inside the circle?

It looks like an improvement, so thanks for that. The problem with the sniper scope is that depending on what the background is, the center dot gets obscured and its hard to get tell if you are on target. So, to me, crosshairs would seem to be more help than an improved center dot. (I did notice that there is a horiz line in your example)
Honestly, I have never seen any real life "rifle" scope without at least a horizontal crosshair. |

At high ranges it's going to look like you have a shotgun spread over someones head when lining for a headshot.

it probably cant be chancged server side, but the color of the scope needs to be adressed it blends so much with the majority of levels it can make it harder for those who has color issues to see it properly.

Well, funny thing that you mention that. I can do this by just tweaking some numbers...

Not impressed.
Until you look into sniper rifles and their nearly useless scopes a simple tweak accomplishes near to nothing. Hardly worth the little experiment, in particular when delta will have a more extensive nerf/adjustment/change/whatever.
And so it goes.

It's better as it will allow us to see the change in color more easily although I think I would prefer no centre dot/circle and have a vertical line placed below where the dot would have been.
