we need for starters better graphics rendering and zoom. it's so frustrating not being able to tell if your target is behind an object or not.
the ability to zoom in and out NOT being in dust has always felt wrong to me. if you're not going to give us control over our zoom magnification, at least give us a better zoom
This is not a groundbreaking change to sniper rifles. Any major changes to snipers will come in Delta. This is just a >5 minute change I can make on the side.

Draw Distance needs to be increased for everything in the game that can be shot ... except the Bolas Ships ... for some reason you can see them out to 1000 meters even when the tank they're carrying has long since disappeared - at about 400 meters.
This will not only help the Snipers find other Sniper targets hiding in the hills at extreme weapons range, it will help EVERYONE by eliminating targets being invisible even though it they're within weapon's range. (not talking about cloaking, I mean draw distance cut-out)
All the static items in the game can keep reduced Draw Distance to help keep frame rate - but as stated in a previous post, this will sometimes lead to a sniper not seeing the object that a target is hiding behind ... even though it is there and can be seen when you approach within Render Distance.

IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL OBSCURE FINE TUNED AIMING.
(SHOTS THAT TAKE A FEW SECONDS OF FIDGETING WITH THE JOYSTICK TO LINE UP ON SOMEONE TAKING ANYWHERE FROM 1/5th TO 4/5ths COVER BEHIND AN OBJECT)

I think its crap honestly. I dont think the reticle actually needs to be changed. I snipe almost every day on dust and i can honestly say that if you want to improve sniping you need to work on an increased zoom as well as maybe a small reticle when not scoped (it would get my out of the redline for sure). Btw stop messing with things that dont need fixing all you do when you mess with crap is ruin it to a point of uselessness and im sick of specing into stuff and then having some update making it so it doesnt work properly anymore. Try doing something useful for a change and actually fix bugs in the game these "improvements" can wait.
I let my sniper rifle bullet to your face do all the talking :P

@Rattati Logibro Perhaps you can make the circle slightly transparent so there is less risk of it getting in the way? Maybe you can make the horizontal line really bright instead and extend it in to the circle?

Adjustable zoom. Longer draw distance when ADS; or, if they're behind something, you can't get a red dot. Finally, an ability to change the reticle would be nice. It's something I'd pay for.

I'm not a fan of the circle. The proposed change will increase the margin of error.
Sniping is all about the headshot, the only way to get a ohk, which requires precision. You can't get more precise than a dot on the target's face.
Another important aspect is sniping destroying equipment. You MUST line up the dot PERFECTLY on the uplink or ammo hive or you wont hit it. When you are at 200m, trying to find the TINY target hidden somewhere inside the big red icon can be difficult as it is and may take time. Change the point to a circle and now it will be nearly impossible.
I agree with others, give it a trial period before you make it a permanent change.
Just curious, but why the need for this proposed change?

We need the same magnification on all sniper rifles. That means a regular sniper should get the same magnification as the thale-tar07. This helps aswell to counter snipers in the redline and espacially thale-tar07 users. |

This wont be a delta thing either bro. sniper rifle is super overpowered for range and that only works by breaking it at close range. line up your hip fire using the same targeting system all your guns have and when you can identify type of suit and remaining hp... FIRE!
being unable to see your shot before you fire keeps snipers from being gods. if you get good at sniper rifle hip-firing, youll see why the hip fire must remain practically unusable on this gun.
EDIT: also, i am sorry to inform you, balls are what is required to bring redline snipers into the actual battlefield. cahones. the game isnt broken in that regard... the players are. when dust snipers grow balls redline snipers will vanish. |

i like this idea. if i was a sniper... well reputed, high ranking, and rich as all hell and i was gonna make a custom sniper rifle to give me an edge on my foes... i would totally get AT BEST the same scope everyone else has. totally makes like zomg so much sense trololol. you kidding?! |

No, the Sniper Rifle doesn't need to be like the Barrett in Co4 where people just kept spamming it until they got that no scope at point blank.
What really needs to happen for snipers to get out of the redline is an adjustable scope. As it stands, a thales is impossible to use anywhere near your target as the zoom is too strong. The Tactical is also pretty meh because you can't lower the zoom to something akin to the TAC ar. If I had adjustable scopes in maybe 4 zooms, lowest being like the TAC ar and the highest being like the thales, if this changes then real snipers would have no issues quick scoping. The Sway Logically would be less severe as well at lower magnifications, at least assuming that it was programmed for realism, though that may have to be changed as well. |

Question: will it have a new crossair when not aiming down sight? There will continue to be no crosshair when not aiming down the sight. This is intentional. Discussion about Zoom and other changes for snipers are best left to Delta, this is just something quick we messed around with.
it would be nice if there was really a scope crosshair.
