You know I keep hearing this, but I've always wondered....how would this work? How would you select what grenade you want to throw?

I mean the idea of grenade bonuses, like damage, capacity, blast radius? Sounds good.
But I keep hearing people call for a second grenade slot and I'm just not seeing how to pull that off given the way grenades work in this game, so I'm just trying to be reasonable in regards to what can actually happen and will work.
Like my ideas?

Answer my question then, how would the game mechanic work for double grenades? How would you select which grenade to throw?

That's not a hotfixable change. The positions on the wheel are tied to the equipment and weapons. The grenade assets have zero connection to the wheel, and thus can't be swapped in like that. That means a client-side change would need to happen, and that cant happen.
Since Double grenade is physically not an options, lets have a discussion about other ways we can make Assaults good at using grenades. Id be all for a +% Damage and/or +% Blast Radius per level, as well as a +2 Carry Capacity flat bonus (not per level).
Like my ideas?

see, to me this is like saying, to cure the patient we have to use a medicine we have arbitrarily chosen not to use, because reasons....
I have heard the thin argument of lots of stuff to do server side, we can do client but aren't because we don't want to make you have to re DL dust
there are sooooooooo many things that could be fixed and added... like a sell option in assets...that a client side update would be well worth it to everyone...
so why not an effing client side update now? for real? |

Lets be honest, the reason a client update wont happen is because its time consuming and expensive, and they don't have the resources to pull it off. Sorry to say but the ones making the calls when it comes to finances is CCP upper management, and they don't care if you get double grenades, they care that Dust doesn't spend too much money at this stage of the game.

Because (if rumors are true) Sony dropped their deal with CCP because of the Fanfest 2014 fiasco. It would cost CCP money to provide a client update, now, along with the normal Sony Q&A stuff.
Its not gonna happen. Just drop it.

I know there are a lot of things people want to do that would require a client update, but keep in mind there are plenty of things that can be done server side as well that will still make the game better. For example you may want double grenades to make Assaults good with grenades, I totally get that. While its not the same solution, we can still make Assaults good at grenades by giving them grenade bonuses, and that CAN be done through the server.
Similar outcome, much more convenient means to reach it. I love those kinds of solutions.

I'd actually give them +2 personally, not per level mind you, just +2 flat bonus.
Give them Damage bonuses and suddenly your Assault suit has its own little niche of AV with AV Grenades, it would be sweet.

It's fair that I point out, I hate DUST's way of doing things, but it doesn't seem like that will change in DUST's (Legion's?) future. Having said that...
What about a new role bonused medium suit specializing in explosive (grenades, remote explosive, possibly some other application). It could be limited to a light weapon and have some combination of more than one grenade slot, 1 or more equipment slots for remotes, bonuses to capacity, damage, radius, fitting reqs, etc

I figured give Assaults a Grenade bonus and give Logistics a Remote/Proximity mine bonus. Gives some unique capabilities to each to match the Direct/Indirect (respectfully) means of combating infantry and vehicles.
Like my ideas?
