Alright, I played quite a bit this weekend. One of the major parts of my game is a very aggressive placement of me forging. I like to be somewhere in which I am vulnerable but so are all of the infantry and vehicles.
For about the 10th time (probably significantly more) some Cal scout flies a drop ship to me, gets out, and takes absolutely zero damage for about 2 full clips of my damage modded adv Magsec.
The cal scout "hitbox" needs to be fixed. All scouts should have the minmatar hit box. I'll tell you that I have never stood and took 2 clips from a 1500 HP Amarr Sentinal's side arm and killed it with a proto combat rifle approaching in a fair 1v1. Now, most of the time it has been 2v1 and I always kill the other guy if it isn't a cal scout but as soon as it's time for me to finish the cal scout...well I don't win a great majority of the time. What is ironic is in another match the guy got sniped, it clearly said 17 armor left and I just kept hitting with my magsec while watching the shields regen.
This really needs to be fixed.
I'm truly at the breaking point of quiting this game.
75% of my deaths are suicide (I pop hives and uplink where I want to forge snipe and then suicide and spawn in as Forge), Orbital, or some kind of Bug (i.e. Cal Hit box, lag, etc.). The other 25% are rail snipers in the redline, normal snipers in the redline, normal deaths, forge sniped, and just normal stuff people have to deal with when they become a target when you harass like I do.
I know this is not the first time this has been posted on the forums. Hotfix Charlie needs to make the scout hitbox the same for all scouts and I suggest the minmatar hitbox as a reference.

When this came up we went straight to the database and couldn't find any anomalies in the CA scout, it is setup exactly like the other scouts.

The calscout hitbox is fine. Everyone is just jelly of it's slender body.
Serious note:
Hit detection is not perfect and if you're fighting a shield based character you'll notice a lot more shield flares and no damage making people think it's a problem with cal scouts. The armor's hit effect is a lot less noticeable so a gal scout doesn't get as many complaints after it's easily stripped of shields. |

That reminds me the other day I was in my Sentinel suit with an MH-82...
Saw a shadow glimmer in front of me and I rammed the guy with at least 400 or so rounds of HMG, figuratively I'd say around 100 of 'em hit.
It was a Cal Scout. I took his shields. That was it, then it was all over. I died.

I keep wondering why people say that the shotgun has poor hit detection... I wreck with it, and have no issues. I think the issue is that the reticule is deceiving, as the shotgun doesn't actually spread at all, but instead hits dead center. Instead of pellets it's more like a single slug round.
I believe it's the same issue with the HMG, where it was simply too accurate, and reduced the spread considerably. |

LOL, I was thinking that it is funny that they don't just watch a match or play themselves and ask US the 7 people that play seriously to record footage in order for them to believe the evidence. We, the players, have to shell out money and time on a dying game in order for them to get info that matters.
It's actually so funny that I am not even mad. Don't worry, put a "ad" out and see who is willing to help me prove it.

Gals, Minmatar and Amarr all fall to my Duvolle, but the Cal Scout just laughs through a full clip of it I once encountered a Cal scout that killed dozens of people. Somehow. In an open area. I used my shotgun + AR Commando at close range and he somehow killed me and others more than once without ever going down. I wondered if it was hit detection, because he constantly moved and evaded blows (which is okay), but didn't seem significantly harmed even when a hit connected.
However, that was an isolated incident, so it's not saying much. But I've never seen hit detection issues save someone for such a long stretch of time. |

Keep an eye out for rapid-wiggle strafe (i.e. figure 8) as well as the decloak animation sequence. These actions seem to somehow occlude the CalScout's hit box.

I believe it's the same issue with the HMG, where it was simply too accurate, and reduced the spread considerably. Well, not quite. What I think is happening with the SG (I've been experiencing it with the Burst HMG too, although the longer burst saves me) is that the hitbox is lagging somewhat behind the character model. The SG, being such a CQC weapon, is the most blatantly affected by this (it's easier to see it happening on a single shot from 5m than a stream of plasma from 50m). In the comments feed, IgniteableAura mentions that he's often hitting when his aim is not on the target.
Essentially, his video is less about shotgun not hitting when it should, but more about shotguns hitting in general, when they should be or shouldn't.

We need more data as proof, not just anecdotal evidence. I did a little test of a previous claim of 'glitched calscout' here. I found no anomaly, and I think any other test will show the same because there isn't any bug with the calscout.
There are lots of things that can mean hits aren't applied (e.g. network connection drops, environmental glitches, Rail Rifle 'fire without emptying clip' bug, etc). As Grimmiers said, all these non-damaging hits are much more obvious versus shields because you get a big splash; against armour the impact is hardly detectable. So people notice them much more against shield tanked suits, and think it's the suit that's glitched, not the network/environment/gun. |
