We need more data as proof, not just anecdotal evidence. IgnurableAura (not sure if I spelled that right) made a video about Scouts and Hit Detection. I'll try and hunt down the link. No he didn't. He made a video about SG and hit detection.
It proves literally nothing. His hit detection was consistently worse against heavies than CalScouts.

The calscout hitbox is fine. Everyone is just jelly of it's slender body. Serious note: Hit detection is not perfect and if you're fighting a shield based character you'll notice a lot more shield flares and no damage making people think it's a problem with cal scouts. The armor's hit effect is a lot less noticeable so a gal scout doesn't get as many complaints after it's easily stripped of shields. THIS
As a ScR user it's the Gal that make me cry.

It lived. Clearly it didn't get struck directly.
Without supplying a map, sockets and location your assertion is utterly meaningless and smacks to me of rumourmongering.

I keep wondering why people say that the shotgun has poor hit detection... I wreck with it, and have no issues. I think the issue is that the reticule is deceiving, as the shotgun doesn't actually spread at all, but instead hits dead center. Instead of pellets it's more like a single slug round. I believe it's the same issue with the HMG, where it was simply too accurate, and reduced the spread considerably. Well, not quite. What I think is happening with the SG (I've been experiencing it with the Burst HMG too, although the longer burst saves me) is that the hitbox is lagging somewhat behind the character model. The SG, being such a CQC weapon, is the most blatantly affected by this (it's easier to see it happening on a single shot from 5m than a stream of plasma from 50m). In the comments feed, IgniteableAura mentions that he's often hitting when his aim is not on the target.
Essentially, his video is less about shotgun not hitting when it should, but more about shotguns hitting in general, when they should be or shouldn't.
