Are being nerfed? Really, CCP? Are you really going to make me skill into prototype gear to kill militia tanks? Pound another nail into the coffin, why don't you. Oh, let me give you a suggestion, save ya some time. Nerf Nova Knives so they can't one shot heavies. It's totally OP. Cut the damage in half or something like that, or increase the charge up time to five seconds... or better yet, just remove them. It's much easier that way.
Nova Knives are best sidearm.

Yes.
Apparently its ok if std HAV and LAV are cheap and not so significantly worse than the proto versions that everyone can use them, but when it comes to REs...
Lets just say that its obvious CCP cares more about helping those who don't have the field awareness rather than actually taking a step back and seeing what the real problem is.

Mildly annoyed, to be honest. I've got the SP to skill into these things and have been thinking of doing so for awhile, I'd just prefer not to have to use proto gear to kill cheap militia tanks. I was actually hoping to spec into shield regulators (Assuming I could even find the urge to log into Dust again) but it seems even that's out of this nerf happens.

Still totally OP. Needs nerf. No sidearm should be able to one shot a suit. It's not fair to the fatties who stack all those plates and extenders to have a single suit kill them.

I was indeed being sarcastic. XD I love Nova Knives, and since CCP has been sucking the fun out of this game, the suggestion to remove one of the last things I can enjoy about Dust was made as a joke.
If they actually did nerf them though, I'd probably never touch this game again. It is the last bit of entertainment to be had.
RE's aren't technically a sidearm, and yea, sneaking up on a tank usually surrounded by infantry, or worse, rolling alongside another tank isn't the easiest thing in the world. I suppose though, the tankers now would just prefer getting popped by a militia railgun sica? Or Jihad LAV'd? Yes, much better~

Then they can implement the appropriate solution in Legion.

The RE nerfs are totally unnecessary. As per usual, this is another indirect nerf to AV.... as if AV didn't already have a tough time.
If these changes are to counter RE explosions on infantry.... the problem is the range that they can be 'thrown' nothing else. If a heavy is too unaware or too dumb to check his 6 then that is his own fault.
I agree people should not be able to throw RE`s but other than that there is NOTHING wrong with them.
CCP I thought these 'hotfixes' were meant to bring more balance to the game? Not make things even more imbalanced. |

EDIT -
I honestly do not understand why there is even a need to increase the time from placing an explosive to being able to set it off. Even with the NEW proposed numbers, the proto variants will still take longer than the standard variants ever did. What is the reasoning for this change as I totally do not get that bit at all.
1250 damage on standards is pretty significant enough to get a heavy killed though and with 4 second activation time the oversized grenade deal gets removed and they return more to a trap deal.
In version 2 of the numbers you no longer need to get to prototype to get to old damage numbers just adv now. Prototype actually got a damage buff from current.

Well, I'm glad you're buffing the prototype variant at least. Four second arming time on the standards now, eh? Are the Boundless variants going to get their delays increased as well?

Another heavy, or multiple mediums/scouts. And that's fair, because medium frames and scouts contribute something other than combat. Heavies only contribute combat, therefore they need to be superior at it. Being locked into a rock paper scissors system does not make them superior at it.
Not everything needs a counter of equal strength to make a game balanced. That's simply an easier answer for people to comprehend when they lack perception of how everything interacts on multiple levels. |

yep this is a nerf to av, but a buff to infantry not getting spam killed by scouts and RE, anyone who has pc'd over the last two months should know this is not an unnecessary nerf.
it's also coinciding with a currently undecided tank nerf.
finally anyone who thinks re's do **** experienced pilots are fooling themselves, this is by far a nerf to improve the life of infantry, and if you like them enough bring some proto RE's. |

Those heavies your are speaking of won't fall to RE's easily you know there is still a delay of 1.5 secs thast enough to any scout with a HMG.
Good, aware heavies have no real problem with RE's maybe except a few situations. Its always the avarage player that believes the only way to survive is stacking plates and extenders to maximize ehp. Those believe it should take a whole team or at least a squad to take them out. This is exactly the same mentality some of the new tanker "heroes" show. |

Lets just say that its obvious CCP cares more about helping those who don't have the field awareness rather than actually taking a step back and seeing what the real problem is.
I have to agree, the real problem with RE's is not how much damage they do, but instead two other things: 1 - They need a longer delay before being active. As in they should not blow up for 3 seconds after being placed no matter what. 2 - They should not be tossed or thrown, only PLACED in a location. I don't care if that location is on the ground, the wall, the ceiling, a vehicle, etc. But stop throwing the damned things and having them bounce up to 20 meters away and around corners.
After those two changes, then it would be ok to double or even triple the amount of hit points of damage that they do. Hell I would be ok with one RE having enough explosive power to blow up an HAV. But not if they are able to be thrown/armed in an instant.

You know how hard it is to sneak up behind someone who actually makes an effort to be aware of their surroundings? Damn hard. Especially when they carry weapon that can melt your face in a fraction of a second. No, you're not supposed to be the counter to heavies. You're supposed to be a scout. A gatherer of information and the first one to an area. Not an elite assassin capable of dispatching any foe. That is delusion brought on by ego. And let's not pretend you know anything about good heavies. Thanks. Its been pretty well established that there is a rock paper scissors (ideally) aspect to Dust. Heavies are the rock, assaults/mediums the scissors, and scouts the paper. If not the scouts, who else would be the heavy counter? Another heavy, or multiple mediums/scouts. And that's fair, because medium frames and scouts contribute something other than combat. Heavies only contribute combat, therefore they need to be superior at it. Being locked into a rock paper scissors system does not make them superior at it. Not everything needs a counter of equal strength to make a game balanced. That's simply an easier answer for people to comprehend when they lack perception of how everything interacts on multiple levels. Rock Paper Scissors is game design at its absolute laziest, and is never something you should strive for. You sound like a tanker. They say the only thing that should take on a tank is another tank or damn near full squad of AV.
If you need multiple people to take down a heavy, then its Heavy 514, and everyone will run it. There will be no room for diversity. This game is meant to exist with a plethora of viable options. Just because you haven't the skill to turn around on occasion to check your surroundings doesn't mean the rest of the community needs to be molded to fit your handicap.

Considering how you have to walk up to your target, plant the charges, and then run away to dentonate the charges (or risk killing yourself); they take skill to use. Unless of course the people your playing against are bads who can barely fight their way out of a paper bag. I was talking about Nova Knives.

Milita LAV + proto RE = dead HAV
I see no problem here, move along.

Lets just say that its obvious CCP cares more about helping those who don't have the field awareness rather than actually taking a step back and seeing what the real problem is. Indeed. I've driven HAVs plenty of times, and have never gotten killed by a jihad jeep. I've had them go after me, but they tend to explode very quickly if any shot hits an RE

I dont understand what the big deal is. Base remotes costs 1,500. A militia tank with a few mods costs about 75,000ISK on the low end. So base REs are 50 times cheaper than a militia tank.
i have Lv5 for mines. I have a suit loaded with proxies that I can use as a massive area denial. The fitting restock cost is about 50,000ISK. Thats still 25,000ISK less than the tank cost. I can turn a tank into vapor in 1 second if they stumble into my minefield. But I also sank alot of SP and ISK to be able to do that.
I just dont get the community sometimes. When someone asks for a repsec, you all come out of the woodwork and start shrieking that this game is all about specialization, and to take your FOTM consequences with some HTFU.
Now suddenly they want to change something you like and its oh no thats not fair I have entitlements I have the right to proto efficiency at militia costs and STD access.
If mines are your thing and a essential part of your gameplay, you will spec up. But if you were just FOTMing it anyway, then save up for the next game changing advantage to exploit. |

the minja is supposed to be a hacker and assassin. The scout you describe sounds like what a cal scout is *supposed* to be.

I can't carry a forge gun on my scout suit, sadly, otherwise I'd gladly blast those wascaly tanks sneaking around. I don't care about the fact that they won't be as effective at killing infantry anymore, I'm just interested in the vehicle killing potential, but eh... guess it's gonna be proto or bust. Someone has to put those militia tanks in their place.

I'm not turning this into a tank argument because most of you scrubs simply can't handle the idea of their being an enemy on the field you can't deal with easily -- which again, is the problem here.
It would not be heavy 514. You are showing you have no understanding of how things interact with each other on more than one level. A heavy contributes combat (ONLY COMBAT) to a situation. A scout being a hard counter to at least 1/3 of the options present in the game, plus being able to give radar intel, plus being able to blitz objectives and transition faster than anyone else... these are massive things and YOU want them to be able to stand as the SUPERIOR combat force against a heavy? You think you deserve to? What a joke.
I want you to understand how absolutely ridiculous that is. No, you can't be equal to a heavy in combat. You have multiple paths to victory yes but that doesn't mean it's good design for every suit to be able to solo the game. Even a heavy can't do that, we need other suits to provide us with ammo and places to spawn because again -- we can't offer those services. Combat is our only role, and we're slow as hell about it. We require absolute superiority in it or we are a redundant suit.
This is the last time I'm replying to this thread. Conversations with those of limited perception of the game they play are a drain on my sanity. |
