Heavily shielded and armoured viper with proto missile launchers shooting at ridiculous speeds for it's damage potential. and dropping the clone score on my team from 70 -70 range to 40 - 70.... Why not just ban vehicles from ambush matches as the tiny quota allows proto vehicle people to cheat, really. Everyone's focused on the super tank that is shooting people with rail gun cannons that act like a sniper in a very large suit of armour with a very large gun. or the team slaying vehicle or the murder taxi team and the only sensible thing they can do is stand there to be shot, as they're gunned downed by other players because they can't defend their self and shoot down vehicles at once.
If I can't kill an enemy, I'll just use my heaps of dead clones!

Only things in a dropship I have trouble shooting with is a railgun or if the pilot turned the ship too much, but just that.

Props? Missile launchers aren't hard to use, running away when you get your shield tickled by a little militia swarmer isn't hard either.
I don't think proto missile launchers would be hard to use either.

1) It wasn't an ordinary viper 2) Most of us probably didn't have proto swarmers or forge guns 3) Of course no one can kill a vehicle fitted with high defense, offensive and running away.

1. It takes a lot to become a good pilot. Isk, experience, sp, etc. 2. If vehicles were banned and all they had was points into vehicles then it wouldn't be very fair to them. 3. We all know this game is unbalanced. In all honesty, you just drew the short straw. I empathize because every time I run ambush I generally run into milkman1 on the opposite team. I constantly get taken down by ADS, and OP tanks. Is it worth complaining over? Not really, because as far as everyone knows it's not going to change anytime soon.

Your humour is OP.
But yeah seriously Av grenades forge guns and some explosives are pretty effective against ground vehicles, some just a bit over-effective, but not aerial AV stuff.

Bro, its a viper. You can take one of those down even with milita swarms. I could have probably brought it down with my milita forge gun and I'm a pretty bad forger.

Not single handedly when everyone is busy taking down other players, and other vehicles that are spawn destroying them.

But have you seen what the knock-back alone from ANY swarm launcher will do to dropships? They like to hit walls and get stuck on the infamous ninja street lamp. o.O

Banned from ambush and just ambush, it's not fair that whole teams are to be destroyed by well fitted vehicle team set out, and if that won't change there weren't be updates sent out. Anything can change with an update.

Yeah, you should be able to even with milita av. I've downed a few vipers with my forge. Pro tip, you can shoot out the gunner. Hell you can even shoot one down with an lab and basic or milita rail gun. |

I got hit by swarmers before and I don't get a problem from the knockback unless my vehicle accidentally goes into kamikaze mode when I move forward, good thing that's rare.

I know that, but it's not too hard to fit a vehicle if you have things to balance it out.

Not really Assault Dropships are quickly becoming a new FOTM over tanks. They can kill tanks quickly, target infantry whenever they want, and hide in the sky when they feel it's getting risky. Not to mention, they are far faster than tanks, and can simply hover in the blind spot over a tank until it is dead.
Most infantry and ground vehicles have no way of fighting back to a well built ADS. It's becoming the coward's suit of choice right next to the max tanked Heavy suits with Proto HMG.

Aiming does take a bit of skill but it's not like it's something you must master after years of practice, while you are buffing up your KDR in ambush everyone else is having a bad time, even your team because you take all the kills, its fair.

Dovallis Martan JenusKoll wrote:Pvt Numnutz wrote: your telling me your team couldn't down a viper? That sucka but really, they deserved to die. Yes ambush should be vehicle free. Uhm a viper is a milita dropship....
Lol ads being fotm. It takes about a month to skill into a halfway decent assault dropship. They can kill tanks quickly if you have ads and racial ads skills to 5, so 2 mil sp. Even then you have to actually know how to aim wit the gun or have gunners which is also hard for some pilots. Plus it takes a few weeks to get any good at flying. Then there is the isk bar, 400k just for the hull before you put anything on it.if you put milita stuff on you can make it close to 500k but your not gonna kill much of anything, especially not tanks. Then you get to loose it to things like rdv's and rail tanks, and milita swarm knock swarm knock and suicide dropships and null cannons and ai turrets etc etc. If there is a decent forge gunner I can't engage infantry whenever I want. You can hide in your red line. If a tank operator is good he can shake an ads, or teamwork. Also with nos a tank can almost match a dropships speed.
Infantry have plenty of options to fight back. As do tanks, though they seem unwilling to fit a top turret and get a gunner to fight back against a dropship. Remember a dropship is using small turrets too, and I top turret covers the blind spot. If you think its cowardly come fly with me, I warn you my dropship only has one barf bag per fight and you have to drop behind enemy lines. Also red line runs with only one second to spare getting out.
Vehicles shouldn't belong in ambush, especially not dropships as they are designed for rapid deployment and such. Ambush maps are too small. but the dropship certainly isn't a fotm. Have you skilled into it?

I agree with this statement here:
Judge Rhadamanthus wrote:Firstly, don't use Ambush to asses vehicle balance. It's the map design and spawn system that heavily imbalances vehicles in that gamemode. Constantly moving battlefronts do not allow AV to setup strategic positions to attack vehicles while being defended from the [hostile] infantry by their squad.
At any time a player can spawn behind you, the battlefront can move, and there is no tactic to stop that. This removes the ability to play strategically. The maps and sockets are also to open and too small, allowing vehicles to cover the entire map in a short period of time.
This leaves AV players exposed while 150m ranged Blaster Tanks with seemingly endless ammo and no cooldown, or [inaudible] douchebags in ADSs shoot at them with impunity. Ambush should have no vehicles; it currently doesn't have the correct design for it. So while frustrating, and you'll never see me in an ADS in Ambush, we need to look to more strategic modes to asses vehicles. I don't want to be guilty of taking this out of context, so I'll just place this here.

I don't have too much sympathy for players who spam vehicles in ambush ad i don't buy the exucse that vehicle users will leave. There is only two people on each side that get to call in anything. This hasn't stopped vehicle based players from joiing matches and slogging it out as infantry, and has done the opposite of driving infantry based players away from ambush.
It is slightly funny that a viper wrecked a whole team, i wonder if i could pull it off in skirm. Off to try a new build, it'll proabably last all of 5 seconds.

Alright I tried a viper fit and I didn't go down easily in it.
I did a viper with a mobile Militia MCRU heavy shield extender light shield booster 2 basic PG upgrades and 2 missile launchers, only reason I did was from enemy dropship spammers or proto dropship.

Other matches I barely got hit because my team had tank spammers and they were focused on them, so they could have saved SP just to get proto turrets and pg cpu upgrades to add some more stuff on it. I've seen people do that before on dropsuits.

Try this fit
Viper: High slots: 3 basic light shield booster
Vehicle small turret: They were advanced turrets. 2 At-1 missile launchers
Low slots: Complex PG upgrade Complex CPU upgrade

Hmm that's a very odd fit, shield boosters are pretty unreliable. I'll go to proto fits and check this out. Would be pretty squishy tho, a milita forge and milita swarm pair could down it. |

We got unlucky because our forgers were being pinned down by their tank team.

The 2 vehicle limit makes it impossible to counter vehicles. The only effective counters to an ADS are rail tanks, roof forges (needs DS to get there) and suicide militia DSs (lol) but you cant call the vehicles in because some blueberry is murder taxiing. A ground forge will never destroy an ADS unless the pilot is greedy or an idiot. PCs and swarms are not even an annoyance as they can be outrepped. |

I think all vehicles, of any type, should be removed from ambush. The maps are just not suitable for it. Consider too the spawn system. AV works best when the AV players, who are weak against infantry, are defended by their team. A good AV player, sets up and a high vehicle traffic area and keeps zones of importance clear for his team to work free of vehicle attack.
But with a spawn system that constantly keeps changing the AV cannot choose a position to engage because the battle front keeps moving. With the spawn changing they can suddenly find that the enemy is behind them. The maps are too open and small so tanks and drosphips can cover the entire map in short order, and kill AV before they have a chance to reposition.
Take them out. So many great infantry fights are ruined by a tank popping up and lol killing the entire team. It is just not that fun for the infantry.

And lets not forget the new players. Ambush is the game mode most familiar to them. All FPS have some form of team death match. Its a natural place to start. No odd flashing red and blue letters just dude on dude action..(read that as you will).
But what do they find there. Blaster tanks ripping all to shreds. I duna about you but that's not fun for the new guys.

Ambush was enjoyable in closed beta back when it was called skirmish (and skirmish was called ambush kekekeke), and communications and biomass were both maps that you could properly muck around in without vehicles molesting you to death (and biomass allowed you to even hide from the then-uber dropship crushing tactics)...
There is nothing fun about it with these larger maps, because the maps we have now are still more skirmish friendly then ambush friendly, and vehicles just mess it up with these current mechanics and maps...
But what do I know... I'm 12.

Personally I don't bother playing ambush because when I want an LAV or my dropship I can't get it, if your team couldn't deal with a viper, they should seriously uninstall the game and question whether they deserve to continue wasting oxygen.
As for ADS, 2 good forge gunners can pwn them or render them completely impotent, one excellent forge gunner can leave an ADS pilot sitting in the dirt wondering wtf just happened, the fact that you or your friends aren't good or excellent does not mean the dropship is broken, just you.

Nice sad face lol, anyway missile launcher guns aren't hard to use at all. You could throw two noobs into the guns and rule the field in ambush. Obviously if the ADS pilot is good and the way his dropship is tricked out, it would take more than a few forgers/swarmers to take it out. Add to the fact that there are ground assaulters going after the AVers, the team trying to destroy your dropship would more than likely get stomped.
So personally, I think vehicles should be removed from ambush, and be reserved for skirmish and domination. |

A Viper! Bwahahaha! good one! anyway if it was running 3 shield booster the tiniest amount of co-ordination would have allowed you to easily alpha it to death, if vehicles annoy you so much because your mlt swarms do nothing an upgrade may be in order and top tip for non-ADS DS's kill the gunner, its not too hard to do unless they are sat on the turret in a brick tanked proto sentinel.
Me and a fellow corpmate are both prolific MD users and we have both managed to empty a dropship of passengers with an MD before its not too hard, its even easier with a forgegun and if it flies low one guy with a plasma cannon (or a good shot with a flux) and an MD can decimate the crew almost instantly. Yes it sucks that its hard to counter vehicles in ambush due to the crappy spawning mechanics but its doable.

As for ADS, 2 good forge gunners can pwn them or render them completely impotent, one excellent forge gunner can leave an ADS pilot sitting in the dirt wondering wtf just happened, the fact that you or your friends aren't good or excellent does not mean the dropship is broken, just you.
Mind you we were dealing with a tank team just like that ship, only a bit of forgers being spawn killed by the tanks, and nothing else.

Vehicles get spammed in ambush either way and its usually the same out come or vice versa.

Hmm that's a very odd fit, shield boosters are pretty unreliable. I'll go to proto fits and check this out. Would be pretty squishy tho, a milita forge and milita swarm pair could down it. We got unlucky because our forgers were being pinned down by their tank team. Tank team??? Lol you make it sound like there isn't a 2 vehicle limit to vehicles in ambush. Anyway a little tip, problems with a dropship, then just start spamming cheap lav's drop ships love having to play dodge with rdvs
Tank team as in a tank with god damn heavy armour and 2 missile launchers just like the ship.

But what do they find there. Blaster tanks ripping all to shreds. I duna about you, but that's not fun for the new guys.

Why don't vehicles have a mechanic when there getting shot by av when there health gets low they start to slow down (I usually don't include logic but this is for balancing reasons) they start to get back to full speed when there health is back to above critical cause it makes no sense for something to be at critical health and then just zoom off into the sun set (tanks/ads)

Isn't it your fault, or your team's, that a single pilot was able to wipe out the majority of your team? Did you even attempt to use forge guns or swarm launchers? Prototype ship requires prototype AV. A proto suit could do just the same in terms of kills and devestation. Please do not yell 'OP' when you do not bother to obtain a proper counter.
I have proto skills in dropships and forgeguns (also includes tanks, but I prefer the air), and don't find this to be an issue. The ADV DCMA forge gun works wonders, especially when forcing a dropship into a building or obstacle.
The fact that the majority of you team may have not possessed any proper form of AV or coordination for that match is the ****** end of the stick... it's the oddball of matches, not a normal occurrance, in terms of dropships. |

If it's not one thing, it's another. Ambush stuggles with what kind of mode it wants to be and the tipping of power during each match puts vehicles in favor of the mode because of the very layout of the maps and the scarcity of focused troop resistance whether it's the available with conveniently placed suppy depos, spawn layouts or the very wide open nature of the very maps you play on.
A Strange Game.
