Some of you guys really need to go outside or something.
I know CCP have made mistakes, I understand frustrations that some may have but seriously you either want the whole IP to carry on or you dont. If you dont then do us a favour and get off these forums.
I see many people around the game in DUST actually having more fun than ever before. PC 'seems' to be more active now that it was before, as for Legion - Devs are actually engaging with the community.
You know the nice thing? In the Legion sub forums people are positive - while still providing key feedback and voicing their concerns. We are NOT giving CCP an easy ride at all, instead CCP are stepping up to the plate as it were.
You come to this section of the forums and its people **** talking CCP, linking other games that have nothing to do with DUST or EVE. If I were a CCP dev I would not even bother visiting this section of the forums at all.
TLDR - if you hate DUST so much now then why continue to whine on? GTFO of here |

Dust 514 is about to get some attention too starting this week; talks with that developer will be fruitful at least as he's a fan of the CCP Rise and CCP Fozzie style.

There is some truth to the ANON Cerberus' post. It is difficult coming here and braving the negativity (although I absolutely do understand the frustration players feel).
As Iron Wolf Saber mentioned, we will be running a proper Dev introduction later this week and discussing some of the plans we have for working on DUST 514 moving forward. I hope that'll give you something more meaningful to chew on. He recently had a brief introduction with a couple of the CPM and they were quite optimistic about his involvement with DUST.

Could we drop the cloak and dagger bs please? Not trying to be hostile, but, there is no real point anymore in it...
PS, if you don't already, a Dev should be named CCP Cloak and Dagger, unless that's too long... Then 2 Devs that always post right after one another.
I 'support' EVE:Legion. Since the PS4 is just a dream, make it easy to sell our characters and our Beta access...

I'll be around for Legion, yes, but my corp is made up of console players. They will be gone. Our land will be gone. Everything we could possibly have fought for will be gone.
Knowing this, Saberwing, do you think it is easy for me to want to log in, knowing that everything I do for the next year is entirely in vain?

You misunderstand, they are introducing a Dev who will be leading the Dust514 team. The exact size of the actual team itself is up in the air, but I hardly think its a single person.

I understand where you're coming from and your frustration. But, grumbling about the status quo isn't productive. Constructive feedback on the changes players would be interested in seeing, is. No, but it's pretty plausible, and not at all unreasonable, that there's only one lead developer working on Dust.

You are mistaken, we loved the game, the promissed future, and then we get smacked in the face on fanfest. Dont worry after 9 september we will never look back on this.
In the meantime we will just protostomp all the time and have fun doing it. |

Are you not doing exactly the same thing? Wasting everyone's time.
But the "negative feedback" is a useful tool nonetheless. I myself haven't said too much on the subject, but am rather upset as a player since May. One that has provided numerous well constructed feedback threads pertaining to tanks and balance.
And you know what really pisses me off. The fact that I have waited since May, and even threw in my 2 isks, for positive changes to come to tanks. Now I'm told it's not happening anytime soon (what's new I know), add to that tanks were stripped down to basically nothing.
So we have a completely unfinished product, that I had hoped would be fixed in the first part of the year (considering previous patches). Then fanfest comes along and informs me Dust is no longer being developed. Way to shaft the paying customer.
Yeah, people are upset, and I can totally understand why. Can you not?
Side note:
GD has always been more of a random assortment of ideas, casually thrown out there. If you want to actually read something constructive, GO TO THE FEEDBACK PORTION OF THE FORUMS. Not GD, as GD is GD. Duh.

With the announcements that there WILL BE NO CLIENT SIDE UPDATES, what kind of feedback could I possible provide to Dust 514??
I struggle to find meaning in anything you guys say, when you tell me you can't actually make big, meaningful changes to the game?
Additional note:
Quit making stupid changes to tanks, please. The hardener nerf did pretty much nothing for Vehicle and AV balance, and made TTK worse than it already was. Plus railguns STILL own the battlefield. Address the real issues with tanks please.
(I know you guys try, but sometimes would ya listen to a tanker and not the AV?)

well OP what can you expect? most of us vets spent 2 years pouring in our time, effort and money into this game.
and then the legion fanfest pretty much shattered our hopes for the game on the console. and most of us find it hard to trust CCP's words these days.
and like the other guy posted about his corp being console players etc etc our corp turned 1 years old on that fateful day, now we know our corp shall not reach its 2nd birthday.
as for me, well the reason i got into the dust game was because my friends showed me. dust was the first game i played thats made by CCP. and now that i know that as a community CCP really doesnt listen to most of what we say. and knowing that and how CCP's attitude towards us players are, i just find it hard to really trust them let alone even feel like playing their next game, because maybe 1 year or 2 later they're going to scrap the legion project and bring in another BS game, and i would have wasted even more time on another game.

Its pretty easy to be positive on a game that CCP hasen't made a debacle of yet. Also the legion sub forum has TONS of blue tag activity. I dont know if this forum has ever seen so much activity from CCP devs. You should check it out there are blue tags everywhere!
Legion is like the new baby brother and dust is the middle child Eve of course the big brother that has moved out to college. Legion is getting most of the attention and Dust is upset. Course there is also really good reason this time that Dust is upset. We were expecting a good deal of the things that are already planned for legion. A lot of console players are unable to migrate to the PC. |

I don't like what the Progression or Sandbox presentations laid out as the future of DUST (or Legion, which ever.) It's not like EVE, which, long story short, is what made me pick up DUST in the first place. Connection with EVE is what makes DUST/Legion special and sets it apart from other games. Simply being an MMOFPS does not make this game special or stand out.

No offense, but if there won't be anything newly developed, like say the heavy weapons that were promised a year ago, I could care less about the "direction" Dust is heading in.
I've been told by devs time and again that the heavy weapons were right around the corner, right up till the legion announcement.
If nothing more is being added to the game to even out the large disparities between playstyles, the only criticism you deserve is the grumbling of the players. |

I've been told by devs time and again that the heavy weapons were right around the corner, right up till the legion announcement. If nothing more is being added to the game to even out the large disparities between playstyles, the only criticism you deserve is the grumbling of the players. I've heard somewhere that new heavy weapons in Dust514 are actually on the table. I can't remember what fanfest video, forum post or recorded meeting I heard this from.
Things that aren't coming to Dust514 are player market and PVE.

The selection bias was there precisely because it was voluntary.
If you were a Dust player who stopped playing or visiting the forums after FanFest then you wouldn't take part.
If you are a Dust player who automatically ignores Legion threads because it is not interesting to you then you wouldn't take part.
What that survey shows is that the majority of Dust players who wanted to express their opinion in that survey support Legion.
In order to generalise that result to "Dust514 players" as a whole you need to somehow demonstrate that "players who wanted to express their opinion on that survey" is a representative sample of all "Dust514 players".
Its a bit like doing a survey in a school and concluding that 85% of the human race is under 5 feet in height.
Anyway, regardless of the validity of the survey I suspect that the majority of active Dust players do support Legion, and I'm one of them.

Its one thing to ask if folks are going to continue on a free to play and another item entirely how many (if any) of those folks will continue to spend hundreds of dollars to fund a product from a company that let them down at Fanfest.

You on the other hand make no argument that the survey is biased.
Because you confused your message with an argument over the survey being biased, the message you were really trying to convey is lost.  The survey's intention is to get an idea of the Dust514 community's opinion of EVE: Legion in terms of support, do not support, conditional support, etc. Asking players "will you continue to spend hundreds of dollars on a CCP proposed project like Legion?" is another thing entirely. Why should the survey have asked another question to which it was not purposed for? The answer is because you're trying to convey a thought that isn't actually related to the mentioned survey at all.

Yes, this is true. I'm not sure who previously mentioned Heavy Weapons were "right around the corner", as they're not (even yet). But they're something we're working on for both DUST 514 and Project Legion and would love to implement in to DUST 514 as a content patch if possible.
This isn't a guarantee that it will happen, but we're also definitely not ruling it out at this stage.

Having player to player trading would effectively require a market, which has not been implemented yet. But this would also require a client patch.

I think he's talking about introducing them in the short term. If it's not possible to introduce them this year, then you have to wait until next year. Essentially it would be on the back burner. If you think that's too long, try being in my shoes having to wait for a door that was introduced in 2011 but never opened since then. Some of you know what I'm talking about.

Nobody has to listen to you. We can complain all we want because the people that are positive about legion are ones that play other games on their PC. Us who play dust are usually the ones who come home from work play a bit of dust on the console and than go to bed and repeat.
PC players (like yourself if you are positive about legion) are the ones who sit at the computer for hours a day playing trying to be the best.

Why did you act like we could get the new weapons and then immediately contradict that statement? CCP isn't going to spend anymore money than they "have" to on this game. A patch costs you money, something you don't want to spend. The only reason you are getting paid is because you are needed for Legion. If you end up on this part of the forums, CCP takes the loss in stride (which I appreciate).
I 'support' EVE:Legion. Since the PS4 is just a dream, make it easy to sell our characters and our Beta access...

Knowing this, Saberwing, do you think it is easy for me to want to log in, knowing that everything I do for the next year is entirely in vain?
It isn't. About the most productive thing I can do is log on the forums and grumble about the status quo. That's pretty sad. I understand where you're coming from and your frustration. But, grumbling about the status quo isn't productive. Constructive feedback on the changes players would be interested in seeing, is. I'm hoping with the DUST news coming later this week you'll have a better context of what kinds of things we're looking at improving.
But CCP's way of improving apparently is "Legion" which cuts out all console players. You can't truly expect constructive feedback on a game that is on it's deathbed. You can't "improve" what your going to end.

Us who play dust are usually the ones who come home from work play a bit of dust on the console and than go to bed and repeat. We are pessimistic. Absolutely. Why wouldn't we be? We have remained hopeful all this time and faithfully kept with the game due to what we thought were promises of improvement, only to find that our beloved Dust would never be what it should have, and that a new game on a new platform would instead be that game. It's simply the last straw.
As for the hate, I think it isn't even originating from CCP for the most part. I think that this game just breeds hate. I've never wished death on so many people before, let alone due to something as ridiculous as a video game. The entire EVE community and the games that CCP produces in and of themselves reward being a **** and discourage just having simple fun and enjoying one's self. I play games in order to get away from cruel reality, not to be drawn into a different version of it. Assholes win and everyone else loses is an awful philosophy.
And yet, the game still has its enjoyable matches and a flexibility that make it worth the hassle some times.
All that said, I still hate most of you and CCP (and yet sort of love Dust), and I refuse to upgrade my PC for Legion.

I love DUST and have been over the last several months a positive voice on the forums, but with dust being replaced by the PC-only legion, I am beyond angry. I am shocked people are still bothering to post on this forum when the game is without a doubt dead code walking.

It's pretty interesting - DUST is the one game in a long while that has really fostered that need for revenge when someone gets the better of you. It's what makes it hateful but at the same time - brilliant. It's a maddening game and a certain kind of gamer loves that - me included.
For all the recent shenanigans, the balancing issues, the poor reviews etc - CCP definitely created something special with DUST. It's a great game even with it's flaws.
