Also I would like to see a few more controller configurations in the option menu. Specifically one that puts the sprint button away from R3 and L3 and the motion funtions. This way controller players can sprint, move, strife and shoot simultaneously better. |

Razer, and all these expensive / gamey looking mouse is just stuff for kids spend their money on. They are good, yes, but they wont make you game better in any sensible way.
Being confortable with your controls is way more important. Still remember playing CS 1.6 against a rich friend decked out with an awesome computer and some razer gear all over, vs my moderate PC and some cheapo keyboard/mouse.
I beat the crap out of him, and then he accused me of cheating because there's no way that my cheapo mouse could aim better than him.

Some pretty heavy AA will need to happen.
With all the people talking tough about how good they are with a controller, an above average M/K user will probably headshot them without trying.

No need for aim assist. You should be able to use a controller and customize the buttons however you like but even with AA you're still probably going to get stomped. Nerfing the KBM to make the few players who actually want to use a controller in a PC game happy doesn't make sense.
This is a PC game not console. Use the KBM. If you've already got a PC that will be able to run this game, you should already be familiar with the KBM.

SORRY !!! not gonna happen pal !!! NOT GONA USE KBM. How many times to people need to ***** !! WE WANT TO SIT ON THE FREAKING SOFA AND DRINK A FREAKING BEER USING A CONTROLLER !!! IF CCP where smart and they wanted to attract new players then they should accommodate people that want to use controllers and make sure they are equally matched like battlefield 4 has. |

Adding in controller support should be mandatory for release.
Adding in aim assist for controllers? I can get behind that.
'nerfing' KB/M so that its more comparable to controllers? HAIL NO. They should not make the game play poorly for any section of your player base, period. That is how you lose players real quick. Just look at Uprising 1.0-1.3... people leaving in droves cause the controls were so bad and frustrating. |

Discrimination
I have a disability that makes using a mouse and keyboard extremely difficult and painful, so other methods of control should have as much time/effort devoted to them as KB/M
Universal Decimator wrote: In other words, do what you want to make the controller viable except: nerfing KB/Mouse, adding AA.
In order for Legion to be 'fair and competitive' AA will need to be added for controller users. I'm sure the PC master race will be able to cope?

Aim Assist, as it was, was a mistake in Dust. It would be doubly so in Legion.
Controller support: yes, a PC game should allow any type of controller you wish to use.
Aim Assist? No way in hell. A PC game should not artificially prop up any particular control method, no matter how inferior. All computers have M/KB. Use that if you don't like the controller. Use the controller if you like that, but no aim assist. |

You can tell when someone is analog knob straffing vs keyboard straffing because the keyboard buttons produce a sharper change of direction. Keyboard users can more effectively exploit latency and hit detection problems and I don't think it is "fun" or "cool looking." I hope CCP can tone down some of the 'elite' straff tactics.
The AA would matter a lot less if the straff-dancing was nerfed and the analog knob acceleration curve was less steep. This is an obvious flaw with the current Dust 514 DS controller...if I turn it up to 90 it is decent for the shotgun, but horrible for the sniper rifle. It doesn't matter how slight my knob touch is, it always jumps over my target and I end up having to lower my "sensitivity" setting. My mouse has a rocker switch to do this on demand.

From what I here the game battlefield 4 accomplishes this very nicely. There are KBM and aim assist controller players that can compete against each other very effectively. Gamers have tested this and found there to be equal competitive controls with KBM and aim assist controller. Question ? why are keyboard and mouse players so afraid of this ? Do you really need an advantage over other players in order to feel you are good at the game? Do you really want to prevent disabled people from being able to play competitively. Do you really want to prevent people every where from enjoying the game comfortably. Than you really must want to play the game amongst your selves. Then the can be the frikin MAN, in game with far less than 9000 players and a hole crap load of ALTS. |

QFT. In the PC world you don't balance to the lowest common denominator. It's one of the big differences between the PC game market, and the console game market.

The only problem I have with the KB/M control set up deal with the consistent disregard for physics on the developers end.
Try doing a 360 in a split second, while having on dozens of kilos of armour on. And stop 100% of your motion in a single instant. Not easy. And never mind the weight of weapons. Try swinging a backpack, and transition from a clockwise rotation to a counter-clockwise rotation without going through a period of transition.
And nevermind the issues surrounding KB/M strafing and the transitions from sprinting to a standstill.
Would it be too much to ask that PHYSICS are taken into account as far as movement is concerned? (rhetorical question) At least with controller methods, the disregard for physics is less blatant, due to less inherent precision. |

In a sense. I used a friends death adder and preferred still my MX500, its reliable and has good ergonomy (the DA felt too big and with sparse buttons).
This new logitech mouse, the G502 caught my attention, but I am not so sure about it since it uses a laser sensor and I hear laser sensors can miss behave, compared with the reliability of optical sensors. Do you use a laser mouse? Any first hand experiences to share? My judgement over the sensors is just based on what i hear here and there thru the web.
A good mouse is a good mouse. It tracks movement and clicks, and thats it.
Any added functionality may provide more convenience or maybe comfort thru a better hand adjustment, but whats important is knowing the game you are playing and where your commands are. |

having no hand held controls, has always been the reason why I avoided playing most games on pc. could never get the feel for shooting or driving using a keyboard and mouse. as for buying controls for a pc who the heck wants to try and work out how to get it working and assign buttons, I bought so many when I was younger and nobody had a clue how they worked. and then when they did work they didn't do what u wanted them to do. releasing a control to go with the game, that is fully programmed to do its job, and works in conjunction with the keyboard and mouse would be great.

How do you expect PS3 players to transfer to LEGION ? I guess you don't care if they do than do you ? Ask your self this question, what happens if LEGION launches and it has no players that are interested in it ? How long do you think it will take CCP to realize they need something new again and again and again. You PC players wonder why you cant have a great vastly popular community like Halo and COD. Its because most of you are so stubborn you will not even allow for the future development of the game. All sorts of new input devices are being developed all the time. Universal Decimator wrote:Everyone needs to know about the razor deathadder mouse. Apparently they are super sensitive and it appears that dust 514 was designed for this kind of similar equipment. So this is why I can't snipe very well on a controller but can watch a u tube video of someone getting 30 + sniping kills on a PC. Also mouse and keyboard players can sprint, move and shoot all at the same time and controller players can not press R3 and move as easily or shoot as easily. This is the same on all the controller settings. When LEGION is released I hope that the mouse and keyboard settings will be balanced and more equal to the controller settings or vice versa. Don't forget that there must be a reason that you came to consoles in the first place, more players! Now give us a fare chance. No one likes to play with cheaters! The majority of console players that switch to PC will still want to use controllers and they should be equal to keyboard and mouse. Console players don't want to play the game hunched over, staring at a computer screen on a swivel chair. We want to play it laying on the sofa with a beer in hand, staring at the big home theater screen.
This is a PC game, use kbm, adapt or die.
Isnt that what you console peasants used to say? Anyways, you can plug up a PC to your tv and play from the couch, do you even HDMI?

There are plenty of PC players who will be interested in the game even if no one comes from Dust. It's not like there's a lot of Dust players at the moment, and even under the best circumstances, only a small minority will come over.
Sure, it would be a benefit to Legion to have players from Dust come over, but it would be stupid for CCP to restrict M/KB usage to do so. It would do far more damage than benefit.
Note - Whatever that something is telling you that Legion players will be coming back to Dust - you need to upgrade that too. It's clearly terribly inaccurate. |
