With this post, I want to dispel the myth that you need a boatload of cash to build a proper gaming PC. These will run anything you throw at them in 1080p and you can hook them up to your TV over HDMI if that is what you would prefer. Now, I didn't throw a OS or a monitor into these packages and nor did I include a mouse or a keyboard because the latter range from the price of peanuts to the range of pricy champagne.
The idea behind this post is simply to provide you with the knowledge that you don't need the bleeding edge to get into PC gaming, even building a PC from used parts from a reputable seller on Ebay would go far.
Anyway, here are the builds:
Build one: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3FUaR
Build two: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3FU1H
Build one is more expensive but then again, it also delivers a lot more and is more to show you that by going with some cheaper like a R9 270, you can wait until the 770 drops in price or something else is out.

You've left off the towers. While not expensive (depending on what you get), it does add up. And if you don't have an OS, then that adds significantly to the price as well (but at least you mentioned you didn't include this in the price). I think it best you include these things in your pricing models, or the point you are making that gaming PC's can be cheap is missed as it looks like you are hiding things.

Good build's, worth noting that for not much more you could swap out the HDD for an SSD and greatly reduce loading times. Of course storage would become an issue, but you won't have a problem with just an operating system and Legion.
But again, they are good builds, and not to expensive considering the power you'll get.

Perhaps, but your goal is to show how cheap they are - they should be included with the low end, and with notes saying that they can be upgraded. That gives people a comparative price point in total. Same for the KB/M. Leaving them out entirely skews the post, and makes it seem less authentic. |

Once we get hard requirements for legion I think having a few builds like this would be handy to have stickied. Personally I haven't been gaming on PC since... ugh like fallout 2 so most of the time new hardware is just random letters and numbers to me.
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.

Fair point. For a case I would go with the Fractal Design Core 1000 and for a KBM combo, I would go with Cooler Master Storm Devastator Keyboard & Mouse (Sorry EU, only in the US :().

When you chose your graphics card make sure it's DX11 compatible. CCP mentioned they're not making a DX9 version of the game.

I would just like to add here as well, we have not released any technical specifications and we're not close to doing so either. Keep in mind Legion is also still a prototype, and hasn't been green lit yet. If you're planning to buy a computer anyway and want to make it a little better, that's fine, but if you weren't planning to other wise, it might be wise to hold off a bit longer so we know if it gets green lit, and what type of minimum and recommended specifications we'll have.
But as someone else mentioned, you will need DirectX 11.

No, more cores mean that more workload (threads) can be divided. It is not all roses though, as it requires the developer to optimize the software for multicore processors to see the benefits of it. |

I know that I am able to play ps2 with decent settings although I'm waiting for that on ps4 (majorly regret buying).
It seems ps2 (being a mindless cluster of ****) should have been made on console and dust (striving to be more than a generic run and gun special case fps) should have gone PC, both made by companies involved with each other.
Its like they are swapping to go home.

More so that the Forgelight Engine that SOE uses for Planetside 2 is an incredibly unoptimized mess. Planetside 2 has the scale and scope of what Dust\Legion should be like, but it has its own share of issues like three factions that has different approach to weapons and vehicles that causes a disparity.
I have had fun in Planetside 2 but having a faction that aren't affected by bullet drop and recoil and that everyone plays because it is "easy mode" turns some battles into colossal zerg fests so I doubt that PS2 will find a audience on PS4, if I am brutally honest. |

No point in my having two computers, so I will probably ditch the Mac I play EVE on now.
I will probably want to have two monitors so that I can run my EVE account on the second monitor. I will probably want large monitors, and to be able to run the game on full graphics.
So, I expect I will be looking more in the $2000 range, but for players who are simply replacing their PS3 with a PC, it is a lot less expensive.

Late response, but you are better off getting an i5-4570K instead of an i7. The latter is practical only if you do a lot of work with your computer, since most games now don't take full advantage of it. Use the extra money to buy a Hyper 212 Evo or better to cool your CPU for overclocking. Upgrade your GPU to a 760 or better, drop your HDD down to 1 TB, and get a small, high quality SSD (a 128 GB Samsung 840 Evo is a good choice) to put your OS (Windows 8.1 recommended) and a few critical applications on. |

The biggest takeaway is that if you're a console gamer who somehow just wants Legion and not any other amazing PC only titles you should wait for recommended specs and very very very likely save quite a bit of dosh.

If you had read my other posts on the first page, you'd have found that I added keyboard and mouse. The reason I didn't include a OS was to point out that building a gaming PC is not about the bleeding edge which seems to be the most common misconception amongst console gamers. |
