If you're planning to buy a computer anyway and want to make it a little better, that's fine, but if you weren't planning to other wise, it might be wise to hold off a bit longer so we know if it gets green lit, and what type of minimum and recommended specifications we'll have.

But as someone else mentioned, you will need DirectX 11.

I just saw the graphics presentation and noticed the nvidia guy there showing off particle physics and I was wondering if we would need an nvidia card for it to look it's best.

Tips For Building A Gaming PC:

#1. Get a decent full-tower case. It will make your life easier going forward, I assure you.

#2. Get Windows 8. Windows 7 might be appealing, but it will also obsolete sooner as it is less recent.

#3. Don't skimp on the power supply and motherboard. Buying a new part only to discover your power supply don't have the juice to run it is not fun, and an outdated motherboard will make upgrading... challenging, to the say the least.

#4. Don't worry too much about the RAM. Adding more RAM is probably the easiest method of upgrading your computer, and as long as your motherboard has the room to add more RAM you waste nothing by upgrading.

You should take these hints with a grain of salt, though. I'm by no means an expert, and I'm drawing these conclusions through past experience and common sense alone, not empirical data. Also, if you don't plan on upgrading your PC after you build it most of these tips are irrelevant.

PC's here cost a buttload, a GTX 770 system with some cheapo motherboard would cost me 1100$ at the minimum, 1200$ is most likely.

A PS4 costs around 600$ here.

The only reason I didn't get a replacement for the current one was money, but that should change soon enough.

Also, the computer parts available here are fewer than what you will find in the US or UK, I have a much more limited selection.

You've left off the towers. While not expensive (depending on what you get), it does add up. And if you don't have an OS, then that adds significantly to the price as well (but at least you mentioned you didn't include this in the price). I think it best you include these things in your pricing models, or the point you are making that gaming PC's can be cheap is missed as it looks like you are hiding things.

Hmm.. how about buying parts over time? I am working on a new build and I started with a 780 Ti. Waiting for June until Intel rolls out their 'Devil's Canyon' line and by that time, I hope the motherboard I am interested in is out as well along with the case.

Two things to keep in mind: first, the price is fine, it's the parts I'm looking at (I've been adding to my PC fund for a little while now :P Using this thread because it seemed legit) and second, that I'm Australian. Here is the link to the Australian site. The important thing to note in that particular page is the price difference; a raw difference of juuuust under $400, even though we're trading at 0.94USD to the dollar.
Basically what I'm asking is this: is there anything preventing me from buying every part (except my power supply, say) and importing them from overseas? Will the different mains electricity be an issue for the individual parts? Or even the supply?

(I betray my very-little knowledge about the intricacies of PC building, I'm afraid )
