We all know CCP is planning to move to PC with the new EVE: LEGION but why?
They want to abandon Dust slowly but surely trying to make it look like the community is what couldnt make it possible, but in reality they couldnt make it possible. They failed their challenge they accepted not to long ago "Cross Platform Gameplay" they failed to make this possible only been trying 2 years in the making and already giving up hope on us.
Just so they can make their beloved EVE players aka PC Padders happy.
They promised alot of content FOR "DUST 514" not for EVE: LEGION.
So why? Why abandon us console players? Why take the easier way out? Why not challenge yourself time and time again until you get it right? Where is your loyalty to the community? wait we know the answer to that your EVE community. But why scam us out of our money to make something we didnt want or ask for nor did we have any notice on what yall were planning to do with our money from all these events and keep it a secret until fanfest and let us believe DUST was going to move forward and be here for the long run? Why present EVE: Legion during the dust 514 keynote and not at the CCP Presents? Why take our ideas and put them in a game most of us cant play?
Is there any hope for us loyalists? I'd like to hope so but I wont be surprised when all this sh*t hits the fan. |

Because console gamers are fickle.
Within 6 months of DUST's release, half of the community was already off playing Battlefield of Duty 8. The other half was dealing with a game that suffered from the technical limitations of 7 year-old hardware.
PC gamers have a tendency to actually stick with a game. There are 8,000 people playing CounterStrike right now. It came out in 1999.
Also, PC games can actually be updated and upgraded. Look at EVE. If EVE were released on a console, it would've been a PS2 game and never could have looked anywhere near as good as it does now. Do you think anybody would still be playing it?

Yah lets blame the console gamers for not sticking with a game that wasn't seeing any sort of remote progress. It totally wasn't CCP's fault for releasing a half assed game and a Development cycle slower than a snail.

It is pretty funny too, because even after development had stopped, due to the content of the last two patches player count was slowly increasing, ever since december. People were starting to believe in CCP iteration and their claims for Dust 514, hell anything seemed possible and the best of all it seemed like CCP had something HUGE to show us at fanfest....
Oh, yeah then that happened.
What is also quite funny is that eve had a similar PCU count in the first year, it was well under 10k at all times.

CCP's move to the PC is NOT the player's fault, not at all. It IS CCP Shanghai's fault. They've admitted they can't make the game they want on a console. They want to make the game right, make it a good experience, and THEN bring it back to the consoles (on the PS4 likely).
Honestly, what this means is that PC players will be the beta testers for the PS4 version of Legion. (given that you are okay with playing with/against PC players in the first place.)

Lol, CCP developed a game based on the forums. That would be reason number one for their failure.

Are you running a PC from 2003 or with 2003 specs? If not, then shut the **** up because that is the same thing as having gone from PS2 to PS3 and probably from PS3 to PS4 cost wise.

I'm glad that someone else remembers that the only reason most console gamers heard of this game, the only reason CCP got any press is they were going to be groundbreaking connecting a PC game to a different console game in the same universe. The connection never got much past what CCP showed the gaming press in years leading up to Dust. I wish CCP would quit the bullshit of making a solid FPS on console and admit they failed at the very least.

Wrong, it had a high just over 6000 a year ago and dropped to ~4000 and held steady. New players may have tried it out but they quit. Only a few stuck around to take the place of vets who said screw it. http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust

Counter Strike?
I'll bite, 1. PC players are resistant to change 2. They cannot adapt 3. The PC is a dead platform
4. all of the above
I played Ghost Recon, it was installed on every dorm room at WP. Then played CS followed by BF2.
In 2006 picked up a PS3 at MacDil for my kids. In 2009 I purchased 3 more because SONY provided a simple elegant device, that they still support. I now own two PS4's,
PS3 FPS titles cannot be hacked, and if lag is property mitigated, everyone is equal.

it will not come to the console platform. its easier to develop CCPs three games for one platform and more relevant: to integrate gameplay. (I believe Valkyrie for PS4 - if launched for the platform - will be a standalone concept; unlike the PC version, which will be integrated into the Eve universe.
For example, SOE/ Smedley has said platform crossplay for PS2 will not happen due to it not being a feasible option (this will be true for Legion) |

its not whether PS4 can handle legion - its about cross platform play. SOE has said it wont do it with PS2. And pretty sure CCP said valkyire will be a standalone client compared to the Eve integrated gameplay of the PC version. |

Lol, tell me at least one reason why i must play in worst game i had seen?
While its was good (in chromosome) - i and a lot of my friends played dust514. When devs transformed this game in total crap - we left. We are not like coprophilia and wont play bad games.
So say thx to CCP, they forced all console players to left the game.
I watched over progress of dust514 during uprising 1.0-1.8 and each update made game much worse than before. If CCP repaired this game - we could come back, after we could sure it for a long time. But they didnt.
So, same CCP's team will make Legion, so be happy among PC community, when CCP force all of you to "stick" their "new" crap. EVE players will pay twice, but no one but EVE players will play this crap. Other people have good games. |

Because the medium you play on defines who you are as a person right? Way to make completely bullshit statements based on equally false stereotypes. Gamers are gamers, pretty sure you are not gonna sum up an entire playerbase based on what medium they play on. If that were true I would claim all PC players as elitist assholes, but reality dictates that is only a small percentage of PC gamers....you included. |

Here is two categories of players:
1. Who came to dust514 from EVE 2. Who came to dust514 from other games
Categorie 1 - will play any crap CCP will release, if this crap will bounded with EVE
Categorie 2 - if CCP made dust514 (or legion, it does not matter) like crap, they just come back to games they played before dust514\legion.

To be quite honest, the biggest blunder CCP made with DUST is their decision to develop it for PS3 in the first place. I'm writing this not because I'm on the "PC master race" bandwagon. I don't think console games are inferior to PC. But, the first thought that crossed my mind when I first heard that DUST will be PS3 exclusive is "DUST is supposed to have exceptionally long longevity, what are they going to do when they'll eventually have to switch platform?". But, I thought, they are game developers, and I'm not, they surely have a plan what to do. Well, it turns out they didn't. Sad but true.
On one hand, I'm glad they finally switched to PC. However, they did it in a worst way possible - by betraying and alienating their current playerbase. This is a PR fiasco, responsibility for which lies solely on CCP's management making poor strategic decisions from the get-go.
There is yet another thing CCP management now has to consider. They are a company that has so far failed to produce any other successful product other than EVE. And not due to lack of trying. They completely botched WoD, and cancelled it. DUST has failed badly to produce the result they were initially expecting it to produce. Valkyre may be successful, but it is exclusive to a piece of hardware that not many people own, and the game would have to be really exceptional to be the game that will make people go and buy hardware for. If Legion doesn't "hit the nail on the head", CCP will, quite possibly, lose the last ounce of credibility as a serious gaming company, and forever remain on the margin of the gaming market with it's "one hit wonder".
Pulvereus ergo queritor.
