They are just smart enought o wait a few more months/years until they unveil that tid-bit of information. There is evidence to back up the behaviour I speak of (you know, keep quite on a dead game for 7 months and promote people to spend money on it.)

And you obviously didn't watch the Progression presentation where they talked about their primary design goal being making a flatter playing field for Dust with more horizontal progression and less vertical. With such a system, our large quantities of SP would just mean we could do more things, not be able to do them better. Another thing to consider is that all of the money we've made could make for some good seed money to kick start the player market.

So lets say they allow Dust to continue for 1-2 years in the state that it is in... this means that Kane Saprro (SP?) could potentially have 1-2 trillion isk. Not a drop in the bucket on an individual, or alliance wide basis.

That's the part I dislike about the progression system. Imagine if after 2 years of playing Eve your best ship was only marginally more powerful than a new player's.
I see a vast majority of this current playerbase spending most of their time avoiding PvP at all costs. How else could one see it go? You've got people with 30 mil+ SP that run BPOs and militia gear while sitting on 100+ mil ISK currently. And this may not be that bad IF it means that upon entering a PvP battle they'd step up their gear a notch in order to contribute more than 5-15 and 450 WP.
And to the OP. CCP is a business, they may have screwed up the announcement of Legion in an epic fashion, but it's not in their best interest to screw over their players.
CCP opened up New Eden to a large number of players that would have never known it existed if not for Dust. Valkyrie on PS4 is the next avenue to bring in more people.
It would be a very bad idea to not allow for Dust players to carry their progression over.

First you speak of me having no evidence to back up that CCP wants to start fresh... this by itself is completely mind-blowing.
Then you go to state since people in Eve start 10 years behind right now, that there should be no difference for people in Legion to start 2-3 years behind. To that I say LOL. Go visit the eve forums, CCP is obviously pandering to their EvE crowd, not the console crowd, what does the Eve crowd say about full character transfers?
Beyond even that, if Full character transfer were even on the table, wouldn't CCP say as much?
Why would they use such uncertain and obfuscated language? This is EXACTLY the type of language you use as to NOT make a promise while leading people on. Something that CCP has a history of doing.
No, you have ABSOLUTELY no evidence that anything other than your character name/picture will transfer over. CCP has not said that ANYTHING else will transfer over.
They have said that MAYBE SOME stuff will transfer over IF applicable. That is about as far away from confirmation as you can get short of saying nothing at all.
If you can not see that you have a lot to learn about this world.
TLDR: There is zero reason to think they will let you have a 1-2-3 year head start on everyone else in their brand new game. See above for evidence.

Why is this a problem FFS?
With one breath people claim they want a "player skill" based game then the next they are clamouring for massive built-in character based advantages.
Every day all over the world people play games like FPSes, MOBAs and so on where all they bring to each fight is their personal skill, not their time-based grinding advantage.
Face it, what you REALLY want to play is a Korean MMO grind fest, not a balanced FPS. |

If the former, they can easily just change how much sp skills cost. So, they can screw you out of a lot of skill progression.

EvE does not equal Dust...Dust does not equal EvE....You can spend 2 years killing pirate NPC's in EvE and avoid PvP/E for the most part. You get no luxury in Dust of that guarantee even mildly. It isn't a question of "will CCP transfer our stuff?" it is more of a question of "how the hell are they going to do it?" If Legion was the same skill tree, boom, perfect. Easy. The damage done to the game with people just sending off messages of "don't buy anything from CCP" would be more than just having people 20, 30, 50 million SP ahead of everyone else. If the game has a good NPE or training experience that it can separate the protobears from the militia guys than being ahead won't matter. With how matchmaking is supposedly going to work, giving you a meta level that determines where you will be placed, it means that it is unlikely you will see many people running the equivilant of prototype gear early in the game because the only people that are going to have that are us veterans. If we want to play with new people, we would have to use lower level meta stuff. The advantage is then our better fitting variety and, assuming they still exist, passive skills like a better radar and the like.
The "how the hell part?" is the best question to ask and the most worrisome. The system is transferring over to an entirely different system where we will level up Roles rather than individual skills. This likely means having Caldari Logistics 5, Nanohive 5, and Repair Tool 5 will be equal to going so deep into the Logistics role. That really isn't a "you now have points in these skills" thing. If getting so deep into the Logistics role costs 2 million SP whereas the equivilant now would be ~4, they can't just give us our SP because we start to run into the free lunch thing.
But maybe we should get the free lunch thing. I have about 33 million SP. I have been playing for about 14 months now but I did take a lengthy break in the game. I have that much SP because I ran boosters 24/7. If you short someone with 33 million SP, you are shorting them the time investment they had in DUST. If you short my 35 million SP or someone's 50, 60 million SP, you are shorting them in the money they put into DUST 514. It is a fustercluck beyond what the devs want to admit. It isn't an easy answer but, well, see my signature.
