So, since Dust is dead, can you tell us what the 514 in Dust 514 means?
I always thought that the 5 was a reference to the five major races (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar and Jovian)
The 1 was an evil entity that had been created in the collective conscience of the sleeping Jovians and had found out how to take control of people that had the implants that allowed the transfer of consciences.
and the 4 was a reference to how the Jovians were essentially slaves to this entity, but the four (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar) are still left to decide the future of the human race.
Also, Empress Jamyl's cloning process didn't go perfectly and she seems to have some sort of alternate personality lurking behind her mind. Is this the evil entity trying to take control of the Eve Universe using the Empress?

I always figured that the first Templars went crazy when the entity tried to take control. In the process they killed the scientists around them and then scrawled 514 in an attempt to warn everyone about the cloning procedure. Then they killed themselves.

That's what happened but I'm not sure why 5-1-4....like is it coordinates? Is it a code? Idk....the speculation is killing me!!!!

Yeah!! Exactly! And there are a few references to the bible when you look up chapter 5:14 in several books that could be about Eve. But I have a feeling that CCP meant for the 514 to also have some sort of Eve universe lore behind it instead of just being some kind of cool Easter egg.

Rumour is the answer is in Templar One (hidden of course), and that an eve player found out awhile ago and was sworn to secrecy....I cannot confirm this though

Yeah, I read about that. how we have 4 lobes in our brains but the 5th one is the implant that allows clones to exist by transferring their minds. But I'm 98% positive that there's also another story behind it. I mean, why would the early Templars write 514 before killing themselves if it just meant "I have 5 lobes now."
I think the Templars were trying to warn us.

Ya the book....another theory is that it's in reference to the 14th moon of Intaki 5 (place where the first clone soldiers were made)....but that would make it 5-14....so I don't know :/

I have heard him say that in at least one podcast. He says he can't tell anyone for whatever BS reason but he says he knows.

Okay. I sent a message to DNSBlack. just waiting for a reply. Is it possible to send in-game messages to any of the devs? I'm not expecting them to give me an answer right away because I'm sure they want to preserve the mystery, but if I can at least get the next clue that would be really helpful.

It was outright stated in Templar One, or at least extremely heavily implied. I wasn't around when the book was released, but I would think it was talked to death back then.
