Legion will be what Dust should've been. Dust will get no significant updates until we're closer to the release of Legion where Dust will be shut down. In the meantime CCP just wants to milk the Dust players as much as possible.
The above was confirmed at FF and especially on livestream minutes ago where CCP Praetorian regarding specific future updates on Dust he answered: " Uhhh we can always do perfomance fixes and uhhh I guess we can add in some more weapons and uhhh we'll probably do some bugfixes too". Translated that means "We don't care about Dust anymore, you won't see any significant progress anymore, now go buy some more boosters until Legion is out". If they could just confirm that progress transfers to Legion, then at least players who intend to stick around for it could still benefit from those purchases.
But what about new players who come into this game thinking that it will last? Reading the description on PSN or the DUST site, simply assuming that the game will continue to be updated? It's that kind of stuff that really irks me, and puts a very bad taste in my mouth.
Thanks for posting it must have been very difficult & I can't imagine that any of you were happy with the position you have been put in. I still can't get my head round why they thought it would be better to release this info at fanfest.
The bolded part for me is really important. I want to know if my 2 years time spent with this game has been well spent & I can continue that into Project Legion or not.
CCP really needs to be open & honest but can they be trusted to do that ?

Bump for awareness. Good read Nova, and great to hear a CPM perspective.
For my full thoughts on Legion itself, see this post. As for that blog, I'm glad to hear the CPM is both as excited about Legion and pissed about CCP's PR as we (well, a lot of us) are. You CPM bros are gonna get as much **** as you're (rightly) giving CCP, but I for one appreciate your effort even if it didn't fully succeed. Please do your best to get more information out there... after this clusterfuck, I'd say we deserve as close to full disclosure as possible.

forgive the skepticism but we've been here before. for me this is right back to 2009 when the first dust demo got promo'd
for all its rhetoric ccp have shown us nothing new aside from prettier graphics and sandbox tools that aren't even past the concept stage. any important questions about the direction of the game are met with 'I don't know because we haven't got to that stage'
while this is going on dust will fade, keeping it online means nothing if no meaningful new content is planned. very few will stay and the majority of this great community will scatter to the winds
sorry guys but you gone f****ed up |

Elop Effect
There was no way this reveal would ever go right. CCP was at the same time announcing that Dust was crap and they were working on a new version for a different platform while effectively ceasing development of the current one.
Why would anyone want to play Dust after hearing that?
What CCP should have done is announced Dust was being shutdown so that they could focus on creating the next iteration of the Mercs on the Ground experience, that it would be going to either PS4 or PC and PS4 (since not everyone owns a gaming PC or wants to play FPS on one), and that Dust progression would transfer (they should've had the answer for well before they decided to announce it *shakes head*).
Would there be backlash? Probably some but not to the level we have right now after CCP stabbed every Dust player in the back.
There was no way this reveal (Dust is dead, and we've been working on the next one for a different platform for a while now) would have been taken well, regardless of the time that they chose to do it.

So if I'm understanding this right the CPM advised CCP to rename the presentations well ahead of time. Say, before the live stream schedule was posted maybe?
They then deliberately ignored the advice? Is this correct?

aaand you just proved my point as to why we don't need a CPM. CCP does what they want, when they want and when it's said and done, your the ones left picking up the pieces or nailed to the cross. Done get me wrong, I appreciate what you've guys have done in the past, but CCP needs paid employees to tell them they're making a bad decision. Maybe they might listen then.
This community is the nail in Dust 514's coffin, waiting to be hammered in.

We bugged and pushed for the announcement to come much sooner, and it was supposed to. But well... **** **** happened that messed that plan up and the announcement was pushed back. Don't think we haven't given CCP endless **** for this pisspoor, awkward messaging, and especially the naming of the presentations. It was going to be awkward anyways, and we urged them to just call them legion presentations and just be upfront and honest, and throw in some smaller dust presentations too for the people who wanted to see them.
Maybe you did that Nova, and if so, well I commend you for it. However the other CPM posts I've seen as of late to me tell a different story.
The thing that makes me so angry in this whole thing is CCP's basic lack of honesty surrounding this whole issue. I'm sure that if CCP made it so that Legion was on PS4, a whole lot of this thing would die down. The main issue at hand here is CCP hyping people up to keep their characters going and keep investing real money in them when they now mean absolutely nothing.
Now a very angry and Bitter Vet. CCP, you have further solidified my views that corporations are corrupt POS's.

Trust and reputation are things that take a long time to build, but only a brief instant to destroy. Yesterday was that instant for my trust in anything CCP does or says.
I do not think it is a coincidence that CCP bring in a guy who used to work as EA to run Dust and that they would continue to run events and sell aurum all while knowing they were moving not only just to another system, but an entirely different ecosystem.

Cut and paste from my response to your fellow soul-selling coward's posts-
Quote:So essentially, you're a coward, and you valued your position of pretend internet power/prestige and your vacation to Iceland more than your own dignity and the feelings of the playerbase you supposedly represent.
I personally would have broken the NDA to warn people not to buy anything for a game that was getting thrown in the trash - the CPM told everyone things were fine and encouraged us to keep playing, keep spending. The very least you all could have done would be to resign in a show of solidarity in protest, without violating the NDA at all, and that would have been enough for many of us to know something very bad was happening behind the scenes.
Instead, you towed the company line. And for what? You got a trip to Iceland? You going to be CPM on EVE: Legion even though none of you wanted to be CPM anymore, right? I guess that meant you didn't want to be CPM for Dust, since you knew what was going to happen to it, and knew there was no point.
All of you should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves, even more than CCP itself. At least they're in it for the money. You're just lapdogs doing what your master tells you for whatever bone they decide to throw you every once in a while. |

For those that asked : A Ps4 version of Legion somewhere down the road is not off the table by any means. This was an absolute priority for us, because we are -console gamers- first. We recognize why this is necessary, but have always insisted that the console roots are not ignored.
Bottom line is that console development is unnecessarily complicated in terms of patch deployment and QA, which makes it really hard to rapidly iterate. CCP gave it their best shot with Dust and the PS4, it just simply didn't work out well.
The decision to move to PC with Legion was born entirely out of the intention of being able to update and iterate quickly, and keep momentum in development tangible for those playing it. This absolutely needs to happen to make dust the game everyone wanted it to be. Dust is not good, and moving to PC would allow them to make it what it never could have been on the PS3.
Of course it sucks for the die hard, ps3 only players who can't follow Legion even if they wanted to due to lack of a PC. This is a boat many of them would have been in with a PS4 port too, as not everyone has one yet. There is no way to get around this, any kind of platform shift is gonna leave some people behind, and nothing anyone can do can really make that news sound good to those people.
And finally, For those asking why we did not resign; In no way was the decision for us to not resign, somehow selfish. To suggest that is like... the most ignorant thing I could possibly think of. You cannot imagine how stressful, how agonizingly frustrating the -job- of being a councilbro is. Yes, we could have ended our initial table flipping with a "**** you guys, we're out"" but what good would that have served? It would have been an immature, knee jerking reaction. This would have been an easy excuse and saved us a stupidly crazy amount of frustration and free us from giving nearly all of our free time to CCP and the Community.
Choosing to resign would have been far more selfish. We carried on because of how passionate we are to the concept of Dust, the vision that made all of the playerbase cream their jeans years ago that was never realized. This was our chance to make sure that CCP had someone on their case to make sure they did not ruin their chance to realize this vision. This was our change to make sure that CCP had someone to say "NO" when they were sitting around pitching ideas. This is a necessary part of any design, and having those people NOT be on payroll means they have nothing to fear from saying NO to upper management. There is no fear of termination or lack of promotion, or any of the negative consequences that usually come from pissing your boss off.
This has nothing to do with sucking CCP off, or wanting to hold on to some strange, egotistical notion that we somehow have some kind of power or throne to hold on to. You need to realize that we spend the majority of our time telling CCP they're freaking morons, and that ass-kissing is about the furthest thing any of us actually do.
One way or another though... Now that Legion is unveiled, the wait for the elections has become significantly shorter. This was something we did demand though, because it would have been stupid to have candidates elected at fanfest and then have them find out that they are on CPM1 as a console player who has no PC. People running for CPM1 -DESERVED- to know exactly beforehand.
I'm not sure what else I can say about that, but you are more than welcome to ping me on Skype (nova_knife) to actually talk to me in person (Scales being the exception, none of these cpmhate alts have ever really taken the time to engage me, and I fully welcome hem to do so. Nova could you or another CPM get CCP (or more precisely Rouge) to clarify exactly what support they are going to offer DUST514. He stated here they were committed to improving the ps3 experience.
From Rouge's recent dev blog: DUST itself has a lot more shooting-in-the-face action to come. The team and I remain committed to continuing to improve the experience on PlayStation 3,
What does this mean... are they going to deliver a full range of racial everything? or just a few tweaks here and there....

First, resigning would have let the community know something bad was up. Instead of telling us everything's fine, keep playing, keep spending money, wait for fanfest, etc, we would have known something bad was going to happen. Instead, you towed the company line publicly, no matter what you claim you did privately (funny that there's no way to prove or disprove anything you claim happened in private though... NDA!!!!!!!1111oneone) you supported the game in the eyes of everyone in the community.
Also, CPM hate alt? lol, is that the best comeback you have? Aside from calling IWS on his retardation for the past several years, even before he was CPM, I've never had a problem with any of the CPM and you know it. Needless to say if you're in CCP right now or the CPM I feel your pain for all they crap you're going to get over this decision but I'm thankful CCP went in this direction and didn't keep trying to flog a dead horse. 5 Days of QA Testing by Sony on ps4. I've been waiting for 2 years for PVE, I would easily take a 5 days delay every patch. Anything CCP told you, they're lying. They want to rely on Eve player base directly on PC, that's it.
