1. Tanks
2. Warbarge Strike
Here's why.
If you don't have a tank, you're pretty much done for. Shields and armor is high, and there is pretty much no chance you'll be able to down it unless you have a really good swarm launcher, blaster installation, or warbarge strike.
Here is where it gets tricky for new players:
All of the public matches will have at least 2-3 tanks in them. No lie. Especially at night when all of the super nerd players come out. (Play in the morning). Back to the point. So, if you don't have a good tank, which goes for pretty much every new player, well hello rage quit. To that I add, how are you supposed to level up when you are just surrounded by destructive lawn-mowers? Run away? Good idea, but sorry, that doesn't work in ambush, or any other game mode, because a tank can be parked anywhere.
But what about blaster installations? They counter tanks, right? No. If you have the normal lot of protosuit/experienced players in a match, they'll be sure to warbarge the installations ASAP. I think you have the option to buy installations, yeah? But if you're getting a crap number of ISK, then your chances of really standing a chance are minimal.
And last but not least, there are the Warbarge Strikes. First of all, let me say, what an idea to implement. It is used so much by said "PRO" players. So say that you're moving around in a group or squad (which is encouraged, yeah?) and all of a sudden you hear that "boom boom boom" sound. You're done. Its instakill, especially in urban/exposed city maps. As soon as a warbarge strike happens, people tend to leave the game and the winning ticket is handed to the enemy.
To all prospective new players, this game will give you hell. Its just a killing fest for all of the dedicated players to harass you. That is why, active this second, I'm just going to stop playing DUST. Not permanently, but until I hear some major updates. All in all, my passive SP will have to provide for my future chances of survival.
Thanks for listening,
Vect-r

The game is not unplayable by new players, it is unplayable by players who fold once the wind blows.
It can be done because I did it. Many others have done it. The thing is, a stomping in Dust is not like any other game. Any FPS multiplayer can be considered "unplayable" by new players who enter into those matches.
If you don't have a tank and you're new, you shouldn't be in the open, chasing tanks, shooting armored tanks with your lil joke AR, avoiding tougher opponents, choosing your movements, staying closer to cover so you can move back behind it if need be.
New players often don't learn from their deaths. They spawn and do the same thing, over and over and over again.
Tanks weren't a problem for me when I started, it was those lasers. Yea, lasers. Designed to chew through a Caldari suit like termites at a log farm. With each death I learned that maybe I should be more in the background until I level up some skills.
And it doesn't take long to have a decent dropsuit and weapon to do some damage.
And about Warbarge Strikes: Plenty of folks played COD where if you got a killstreak, you had some kind of support. In fact, it could be more than one. The most infamous was the nuke which is the same as the warbarge. In that game, all it took was one player who was a beast, killing everybody since he's twitching on Mountain Dew and adrenaline. Folks didn't complain about that, did they? In dust the Warbarge strikes are a squad effort (especially now). So how come random blueberries in a team are playing like its COD, wanting to be the sole hero with the highest record on the kill report instead of playing with other players to coordinate a win, which is more important?
If you notice your team getting a stomping, and you guys are all bunched up together, what do you think is going to happen? You're practically giving the enemy team clones.
You have to approach this game differently and that's why so many players get frustrated. Those BF4 and COD tactics don't work here. It's different.

1. Tanks have been stronger in the past, though not as cheap/spammable. Maybe stay away if they are an issue?
2. Warbarge strike/orbital bombardment has always been here.
All new players have a tough time. The game is designed that way to get players focused on SP/levelling and create an addiction of sorts.
I am all for a better NPE but these complaints seem pretty weak. |

Tank is parked on the hill leading to the objective on a game of domination. You can't get by the tank because he keeps destroying infantry and AV's faces. What do you do? Don't stand in the path herp derp hurrrrrrrrrrr.

And you know what that comes from? The community complaining about the range and power of the swarms. Dropship pilots got mad and people rallied to get the swarms nerfed in range and power. Now, you have a redline rails, which weren't a problem at all before the swarm nerf.
All it takes is one look at the FG and realize that the road to versatility in skillsets is imperative for survival in New Eden.

Oh yeah , call in a tank so you come running and kill the tank or better yet the RDV before it deploys. And it's domination on the hill map, the enemy has the objective which means they're on top of the pipes and all over the hill, including you and your Ion Canon. You're saying that a scout will be able to run over to you and plant three RE's before you or the 10 other people there shoot him in the face? You're the scrub.

Then call the tank in where its not visible to other tank wich should not be a problem since they nerf the range of the cannons. Then look at the mini map while in the red zone and look for the best place to ambush him. AND YES I HAVE DONE THIS READ MY TAG IM A TANKER

the npe is horrible for sure but the things the OP listed are not the main reason the npe sucks donkey *******, it sucks because there is no way to ecsape the repeated stomping they recive from veteran players, if they need sp or isk they have to get stomped for it untill they can do the stomping and lets face it more that half of them dont stay untill they can stomp and thats because we dont have any pve missions for new people to learn the baisics, hell even the acaamy is a joke, how the fck is earning 4000wp qualify them to enter into the stompfest that we currently all occupy, tha number is stupid on ccp's part it needs to be way higher somewhere around 150,000-250,000wp to graduate the acadamy not 4000 |

You seriously have not been paying attention. The reasons are nearly legion and you pick the two that you personally don't like right now at this moment. No doubt because you have had your dead clone's butt handed to you repeatedly over the last few weeks/days/matches by either tanks or OBs. I suspect the posting has little to do with actual New Berries and everything to do with you.
The one main reason, in truth, is ---> There Is No Matchmaking In Dust (tm). Too bad, it ain't gonna happen. The last time they tried they managed to produce the incredibly stupid version of Scottie? Remember that? I do (shudders, laughs). It was an embarrassment to programmers the world over.
Although the anti-tank QQs were really quite touching.
See you later, Kitten.
PS: I like the name of your clone, very inventive.
And so it goes.

So the sound of the "woor...woor" of an approaching tank fails to register with them? I hear a tank before I see it and begin moving to cover to avoid before it pops up on me. Anytime it did, I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings.

Okay, that's actually a dishonest argument.
The primary issue with swarms in 1.6 was that they were invisible, thanks to the idiotically small rendering distance. And that same idiotic rendering distance is the same reason you didn't get redline rails - the only thing they could shoot was vehicles, and no-one used those.
Aside from those two, though, you're spot on.

you can't hack sitting in a tank, you don't need to go after them, they can't access stairwells or walkways in complexes etc.
Plenty of times I've seen one or more blue tanks faffing about around an enemy objective doing bugger all to win the game.
warbarge strikes - i shrug and carry on when they get me. They only get me if I'm with a blob, and even then not every time. As a scout, I'm not often with a blob.
I dunno, I think you have the power to avoid your listed gripes to be honest. There are far bigger problems need fixing.
