So.. what if CPM1 consists of all Blue Donut people?
Don't you think that would be harmful to the game? well.. I have a feeling that since said azure pastry controls a large majority of the most active and ... vocal DUST players, that it won't be hard to set up a system in which, if it comes to a vote, they will have the majority.
Seems fishy to me. |

Bear in mind, the blue donut may be the most vocal, but they are a very very small number. It's important that you reach out to as many people as possible and convince them to vote (regardless of who they vote for), so that a larger portion of the community is represented.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

Well considering how the CPM has no actual power in terms of development, no it wouldn't be harmful for the game. Two votes on the CPM won't mean anything, as it would still require votes from other CPM members as well.
The only way for the a CPM member to do something significantly harmful to the game is if CCP allowed them to, in which case the blame would rest on CCP's shoulders.
Most of the active & vocal players? Would you like to elaborate with something factual?
Or can I dismiss this as propaganda?

I just feel in my belly that CPM1 is going to do far more harm than good. This game is still way too young to throw it to the wolves via "public" voting, when there are CLEARLY systems in place via the playerbase to influence the votes as they see fit.
It just has bad juju written all over it.

GTFO with your propaganda.
Thats actually very debatable, while correct that they had no direct development power or authority their job was to communicate the approximate community wide thoughts and suggestions..... and yet for the most part the greater powers as they could be called are very dismissive of many community wide suggestions.
While I can appreciate that these representatives stand out from their compatriots...... a community will have certain reservations against any group put into power, or raised up in some way, as they might perceive it. More so if a large proportion of those all happen to be connected by alliance.......
DO we remember the out rage surrounding the CRONOS brigade?
Issue being the field is not very wide and contestants are not as varied as we might hope.

I would say that Syeven Reed has about a snowball's chance in hell of winning. Zatara has a chance but it probably depends on just how blinded by DNS hate people are.
Also, I'd like to ask, OP - why do you think that having a candidate from DNS on the CPM would be a terrible thing?

Its actually a very positive thing. Every ground that has come to and perhaps you could say "won the endgame" would need a place to represent that particular community, and aid in the development and expansion of that end game.
But equally so a candidate needs to be elected based on their qualifications and community contributions rather than where they come from.
I find Zatara an interesting applicant, still haven't made up my mind yet.

Did I say it would be a terrible thing? I just asked people if they thought it would be harmful.
I'm more concerned about a large group like that's ability to sway such an important part of the direction DUST goes.
Not saying any of the candidates are crooked, but it is certainly not outside the realm of possibility for a CPM to take NDA intel and share it with close corp mates, or at the very least, using said intel to sway decisions made in PC, Market manipulation (when it becomes viable) etc. so I'd like honest people in there. but just like in a presidential election, that is probably asking too much.
At any rate, I don't mind if Zatara gets in, since I've known him for a while from the PFBHz days, and he seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders.
Personally, I feel all aspects of the game should be covered. We need someone with up-to-date PC experience, as well as someone who doesn't hold any districts, but has fought in PC, to look objectively at the formers ideas.
We need someone who despirately wants PvE, and a crafting system. We need someone who wants more vehicles, and someone who wants fewer vehicles. we need an all out slayer, and a logi guy who can't pull above a 1.0 KDR.
We need balance in the CPM, and the way the public image of DNS is going is that they are mostly greedy PC carebears who are constantly looking out for numero uno.
I know not every single member of DNS is like that, but truthfully, in order to hold a PC district right now, it's almost assured you're just interested in personal gain. Get most of the best players in the game (or at least, best slayers), and scare off anyone from even attempting to take a district, since it's pretty much a waste of ISK to attempt to do so. Then blue up with anyone who is a possible threat.
sounds just like what happened in EVE with the CFC. and that turned out just great, didn't it?
I'm not new to this game. I've been playing since the first round of beta, and quite frankly, I am rather distraught with the way this game has gone south. Such insignificant changes to the broader gameplay (no changes of scenery, no more cover, balances/nerfs that lead to massive imbalances, etc.) All I can say is, I hope CPM1 helps CCP to see that this game is in serious trouble (if they can't see that themselves) and that the only way to dig it out is key changes, and to balance using a scale, not a hammer. |

dust players voting is just a bad idea. Most people running for cpm1 are terrible and shouldn't even be allowed to the play the game. I dont care what corp/alliances players come from as long as they do a good job for the game and community.

I can agree only a little bit with you dude because I understand that AE CA and NS are more prevelant
but yes the largest alliance with the most people would by rationality equal the larger voice
and yes I understand your point of dust not having 5000 altogether but the numbers show that dust has on average only 5k users
currently as i edit this post there are 4,052 online

Great.
Now subtract that 1,982 players by the amount of players who are actual DUST 514 Players, and then by those who are actually active.
With that logic, just about every corp in the game is vocal.
